my dell vostro1510,screen is lock and one button is blinking in blue light at the top.i tryed evrything ,pressing menu button, fuction key etc.plz tell me the exact way to unlock my screen
I'm thinking that my computer possibly overheated while I was on it, since it randomly shut down. I tried to see if my laptop would die I could start it up, but still I get no screen nothing everything is black, my pc disc tray won't open the caps lock button just keeps blinking. I tried taking the battery out connecting to ac still no luck:
Went to use my laptop this morning (windows, 15 inch screen) and all I could get on the screen was several large black circles with the screen being a very light blue, like maybe sky blue. I can see the screen flickering, but nothing appears in the screen whatsoever.
I have recently obtained a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. This is the first time I'm using Windows 7.My HDD light on the laptop keeps blinking, even when I'm not doing anything, just staring at the desktop. I don't notice anything on the performance, everything seems to run fineOne thing I was immediately aware of is how Windows 7 seems to run a lot of processes in the background; indexing, defragging, etc... I have turned these off, along with stuff like WDefender,Firewall, my hdd light still keeps blinking.I have also noticed that googling this issue reveals lots of results with mixed replies. Some say HDD light is supposed to be blinking and/or this is completely normal, others say it might be an issue.Just as I was writing this, I also downloaded a gadget for monitoring hdd: Drives Meter. Looking at the graph, the hdd doesn't seem to be doing much. It usually stays on %0, just some little activity here and there... Yet the light is blinking on a heartbeat rate. Bear in mind, I am running Comodo+Eset at the background; however, for comparison, on my PC (running XP Pro) which also runs Comodo+Eset, there is no blinking whatsoever.
Lately my PC has been weird, whenever i launch any game my computer just turns off but in a verry unusual way, The Screen goes black, the pc fans stop spinning, nothing is working, but my power button is still bright blue (showing that the pc is still on but its not), i press the button, nothing happens and if i un-plug the power cable, the power button stays on for about 10 seconds, then when i plug the power cable back in the pc turns on just normally like every time, but i still get crash if i launch a game, this is my pc Configuration: [code] This has been happening for a couple months now and its getting verry annoying, i'm thinking of buying a gaming PC but that costs 3,000 and i need a good working PC while i save up money.I have reinstalled Windows a few weeks after the problem accoured, it did not fix it. I also updated all my drivers, still not working...
I am using the Windows 7 Beta 7100. My kid play games and now my Key Board is no longer respond (to type) and the Number Lock light is Green. I could not do anything to turn it Off (number lock). The PC is working fine, by using the mounse. Is there a shortcut key i can hit to get the control back on my Key Board? Also if i click on the shortcut icon, normally it will open the application or folder, now it is open the Properties.
I have a problem that's been driving me crazy. I'm new here so forgive me and feel free to direct me to any thread if it's been posted already. So I have a HP DV6-2162NR laptop and the mute button (touch) is stuck in the mute position (see picture). The button works completely fine, as in it will mute and unmute on command but the button does not change color from orange to white. I couldn't do a system restore because there wasn't one saved. I tried disabling the sound card but that didn't work.I'll restart it and it turns white. But as soon as Windows 7 loads, it turns orange and stays orange.
the mute button light doesn't turn on when i turn the mute on and it's supposed to. do you think i need a windows 7 driver for that? There is only vista and xp drivers however. should I get the vista one? which driver would it be?
I'm still fairly new to windows 7 and i have found a bug or something with mine. I normally have my windows start bar (the bar with all my open windows) set to be transparent. When I close my laptop screen it sets it to hibernation and a good portion of the time when I start it up again my start bar will be a solid light blue color.
It changes the way the windows work and frankly it's annoying! When I restart the computer it goes back to normal but there are times that I can't restart it due to a buggy Art program that won't allow me to save for a while and I'll loose everything. When I go into personalization I try and fix it and even if I change it back to transparent it stays solid until I restart my computer.
I just upgraded to Windows 7 on my Toshiba Satellite Special Edition laptop that came with Vista 64bit and the other night i downloaded iTunes 10 and told me to restart my machine so I clicked ok and then my laptop shut off and when it came back on the Toshiba screen came up as usual but seemed to stay on longer than normal then it goes to a black screen with a underscore that blinks for a few moments then becomes solid. Ive tried to use the "F" keys to get different boot options because i have the windows 7 ISO disc and a ubuntu disc that I could use but whatever i try my laptop wont process it just does the same thing over and over again and bever proceeds to the actually boot up windows.
Well, I think we might have a new one, I looked back a few pages in the whole list of topics.
My wife's computer is using a fresh install of Windows 7 build 7000.
This problem seems to happen randomly and we cant find a rhyme or reason to it. At first I thought it might be a heat issue, perhaps with the video card. Well about 4 months back(the blinking problem was not present at this time), I found her video card's fan had stopped working and we replaced the card with a new nVidia 9600GT.
The blinking started maybe a week or two ago.
Rebooting the computer does not help in most cases.
Placing my monitor on her computer was inconclusive. It did not blink.
Placing her monitor on my computer was also inconclusive. It did not blink.
Right now she is using a driver that is dated 4/2/2009. We are currently downloading the driver for 4/30/2009 hoping this will help, and once it is downloaded and installed, I will write back on my findings. Maybe we should update to the latest build of 7?
If I'm in the wrong forum, or location or if I missed a post regarding this same issue, please let me know so we can get this figured out on our end.
Almost every time I click (Open windows, maximizing windows etc, etc...) The whole screen will blink and I will see a brief (Not Responding) which only lasts for a split second, then I can resume my work, in the worst of cases this can happen 9 or 10 times until the computer actually responds and selects what I want it to.I have recently upgraded my graphics from a ATI Radeon X1200 (Old and useless) To a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 SE/7200 GS. ALL of my drivers are up-to-date and a system restore is not an option.
I have been using my emachines netbook 350 for a year now and running windows7 in it since I bought. A month ago, I've started seeing those blinking horizontal lines on my screen. Almost half of my screen is affected. I wonder if it is a problem with my video card or just some viruses. Well when I print screen, the lines are not showing. The same as when I connect my netbook to a projector
I have a sony vaio vpceb11fm laptop. the moment i turn it on i get the vaio sign and then a black screen with a flashing cursor on the top left hand corner i tried f10 to recover the system but come across the same problem.
i have a acer aspire 5336-2460 laptop, everytime i try to boot into windows it gets stuck at a black screen with a blinking underscore in the top left. I tried making a bootable Windows 7 dvd and it still doesn't solve the issue. F8 won't work only F2 and F12.
While working on my laptop a command prompt screen comes for a second and vanishes away and this happens a lot of time ..however since this happens so fast I dont what is written in that command screen as it exits in less than 1-2 second. Is there any way i can track wht makes to come this screen again and again
i have a lenovo thinkpad edge 14" running 64-bit windows 7 home premium. the laptop didn't come with any CD's, everything was pre-loaded on. all i get when i boot it is a black screen with a blinking cursor , when it boots all it shows is the thinkpad splash screen then straight to the blinking cursor. i have access to a lenovo x220 running the same (i.e. 64-bit Windows 7 home premium) however no CD drive, the edge 14" does have a cd drive. looked at multiple articles on seven forums but none of them help because i dont have a cd burner

OS: Windows. 7 ultimate 32bit
graphic: nvidia geforce 8400 M GS
driver: v191.07 Windows 7/Vista 32bit | NVIDIA - NVISION
bios: A15
I tried all the driver in forums.laptopvideo each with driver sweeper to clean up the previous graphic driver but no luck. Anyone know how to connect the projector with simple driver or with 'standard vga graphic adapter' driver?
Ok I am at my wits end with this computer. I am trying to do a clean install of Windows 7 from a thumb drive, I have used this thumb drive for several successful installs, including one after my issue just to make sure it wasn't corrupt.
PC details Foxconn A74ML-k Motherboard with a Dual Core Amd proccessor, sorry cant find the model off hand. using on board graphics card, and a Western Digital WD6401AALS hard drive and 2 gigs of gskill ram.
This PC was running windows vista just fine before I attempted to Install Windows 7, I have tried to install Windows twice, once with the usb drive and once with a dvd disc both end results are the same. The install will go perfectly smooth, all the way til the final reboot. Once the actual install is complete when it try to first boot all I get is a black screen with a blinking cursor, I cant seem to enter safe mode.
I have searched and while it seems many have run into similar issues is usually due to things such as dual monitor set ups etc. All I have connected is a mouse, monitor, and keyboard. Microsoft lists the motherboard as compatible, I have reset the bios, tried a different hard drive, ubuntu live works just fine, the file system is there. I even pulled the hard drive out of my laptop and plugged it into the pc and I get the same result. Also I tried windows start up repair from the discs, it found no issues.
I recently dualbooted Linux Mint and Windows 7 on my laptop. Yesterday I removed the Linux partition without thinking, and forgetting about the GRUB bootloader. I'm at a stump now. When I try and turn on my computer, the Toshiba logo appears, then the screen goes blank with a blinking cursor. I searched the internet all of today and most of yesterday, all that did was tell me to do the bootsect /nt670 /fixmbr and all it's variations[CODE]
I have a problem, a small 1 i hope: i can' t seem to login normally into windows, i end up getting stuck at a blinking login screen with the message "please wait". When i try booting through safe mode it is successful. I have no restore point to fall back 2. All i did was uninstall a windows clear theme, prior to this event i could not install any .themepack file as it ends up displaying "could not find the msstyles folder". Is there a way around this predicament of mine or do i have 2 format my hard disk?
I restored my computer successfully but I still got the blinking cd icon next to my mouse pointer. After I restarted my computer I got Windows 7 with a clock and "2 min" under it and then it went to a black screen with blinking cd icon. I don't understand what is going on. I can get into task manager and type in explorer.exe but that doesn't do anything. I also tried the Regedit fix, but that didnt do anything too. I need help on how to fix this. My CD Rom won't even open for some reason.
I just made my first PC and after entering UEFI and choosing the CD drive as the boot disk I am led to a black screen with a blinking icon. Now I tried to boot from a USB, but this also led me to the black screen.

I have Windows 7 and no matter if I am using Chrome or Internet Explorer, the color of the text that appears is so faint that it almost blends in with the background. Instead of black text, the text is like a gray color. It is so profoundly irritating I cannot stand it! It isnt like this on all websites. For instance, as I am typing this post. The text color is black and does not blend in with the white background. Although, it could have better resolution.
My computer would not get past the start up screen it just froze at the Windows 7 logo. Prior to this, I had absolutely no problems. I shut it down one night and came to start it the next morning and it wouldn't load. I format the drive and tried to reinstall Windows 7. It seemed to load everything fine and got to the "Completing Install" part, then just flicked to a completely black screen with a blinking line in the top left-hand corner.I did read on one forum that perhaps it was a RAM issue, so I removed one stick and the process actually completed! I thought I had nailed it. After setting my computer back up and with everything working just fine, I put the RAM back in. On restart, it locked at the logo again, so I figured it was definitely bad RAM, HOWEVER!! Even with the RAM now removed, I cannot get Windows 7 to reinstall. I am still getting this awful black screen with a blinking cursor.
I'm trying to boot up this HP laptop that shows a black screen with a blinking cursor after the HP logo. I've tried using a windows 7 recovery disc to repair start up.I've restored the computer to an earlier date that it was working correctly. I've ran every test in the computer's built in diagnostics, and every single one has passed, and no errors in any part of the system were reported. Also, the computer will not start up in safe mode or anything like that.
