Oct 8, 2011I have recently obtained a laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium installed. This is the first time I'm using Windows 7.My HDD light on the laptop keeps blinking, even when I'm not doing anything, just staring at the desktop. I don't notice anything on the performance, everything seems to run fineOne thing I was immediately aware of is how Windows 7 seems to run a lot of processes in the background; indexing, defragging, etc... I have turned these off, along with stuff like WDefender,Firewall, my hdd light still keeps blinking.I have also noticed that googling this issue reveals lots of results with mixed replies. Some say HDD light is supposed to be blinking and/or this is completely normal, others say it might be an issue.Just as I was writing this, I also downloaded a gadget for monitoring hdd: Drives Meter. Looking at the graph, the hdd doesn't seem to be doing much. It usually stays on %0, just some little activity here and there... Yet the light is blinking on a heartbeat rate. Bear in mind, I am running Comodo+Eset at the background; however, for comparison, on my PC (running XP Pro) which also runs Comodo+Eset, there is no blinking whatsoever.

Jun 20, 2012So I just bought a used HP dv7 laptop. It came with a Dell charger and was able to charge fine. I use my laptop as my home computer so its always plugged in. Since I always keep it plugged in, I removed the battery so over time it wouldnt kill the battery life. So everything runs good, but I also like to play games on my laptop. when I do my laptop shuts off. I thought it might be my laptop crashing, but I noticed that the small light on the charger was off. I unplugged the charger from the wall socket and plugged it back in and the light came back on and my laptop powered up. The charger was very very hot. So I pointed a fan at it and played the game again, but it shut off again. I thought it had to do with the dell charger and the HP laptop, So I bought a brand new HP charger. But it still does the same thing, the charger shuts off.
Is there some settings I have to change? or something wrong with my laptop?

As they're a lot of programs, the folders and files are accumulative each upon another.My laptop charger is always connected to the laptop. But still, since a couple of days, has 0% power. No progress in charging, and any improper interruption causes a technical damage to the entire work. Even though I save my work minute-by-minute; I forget for awhile. Knowingly that I exhausted every possible solution, with no results.

Earlier I was playing stacraft 2 after waking it from hibernation and was listening to music with headphones on. I heard a horrific cranking noise and couldn't tell where it came from. A few minutes later I heard it again and realized it came from the fan area or so from the laptop. It turned off and I waited a minute and turned it back on. It started for a few seconds and turned back off. I left it for a few hours then turned it on again and it lasted to the desktop then turned off. I tried a different power source but that hasn't done anything.

Lenovo Laptop Will Not Boot
Jun 11, 2012Lenovo laptop with Windows 7 OS. The laptop shut down while plugged in overnight. I have removed the battery and let it sit for hours to cool/reset. Upon power up, the hard drive light comes on for 2-3 seconds, then goes off. Sometimes the screen flickers white for another 2-3 seconds, but the OS never boots up. I have removed the hard drive and plugged it into another computer via a SATA cable. I was able to read data. The drive appears to be working. I ran Malware Bytes and it cleared off some suspect files (PUP.FunWebProducts and PUP.MyWebSearch). I have a log file to post if helpful. When I put the hard drive back into the laptop, I get the same result as before. I made a recovery disc on another Win 7 computer and attempted to boot the Lenovo from the disc, but still I get the same result. I have tried pressing F8 at start up, but still no joy. Is this a BIOS issue, failed HD controller, or something else?
