Checked Google only to find out that this a common problem with this model of laptop. I apologize for not having any other specs for this model of laptop as It will not turn on. Same if I turn it off and turn it back on. I have to turn it off and on many times then go to safe mode and shut down then turn it on again for it to work. Just now I had to turn it on/off 4 times for it to show the icons and task bar. Usually it is left blank with nothing to click having no choice but to turn it off. Norton says no viruses. I know my laptop is not that good but I know it can run CS 1.6 at 100 fps. Anyway, that was not really a problem at some games but it sure was at CS 1.6, everyone that plays CS 1.6 knows that having 60 fps at that game is really annoying. Turning Off Sounds In Media Panel On Toshiba Laptop?
Nov 1, 2009I'm trying to turn off the sound on the media panel on my Toshiba A500-02J. The sound is muted when I mute it off the panel (that is, until I press volume up/down). But I'm trying to stop the beeping when pressing the volume buttons. I've gone to the system tray, and speakers, and turned off system volume. I've also gone to Sounds in the Control Panel but I haven't found anything specific on this.
I'm not sure whether I need to use a Toshiba application or just a general Windows one to turn it off.

Lenovo Laptop Will Not Boot
Jun 11, 2012Lenovo laptop with Windows 7 OS. The laptop shut down while plugged in overnight. I have removed the battery and let it sit for hours to cool/reset. Upon power up, the hard drive light comes on for 2-3 seconds, then goes off. Sometimes the screen flickers white for another 2-3 seconds, but the OS never boots up. I have removed the hard drive and plugged it into another computer via a SATA cable. I was able to read data. The drive appears to be working. I ran Malware Bytes and it cleared off some suspect files (PUP.FunWebProducts and PUP.MyWebSearch). I have a log file to post if helpful. When I put the hard drive back into the laptop, I get the same result as before. I made a recovery disc on another Win 7 computer and attempted to boot the Lenovo from the disc, but still I get the same result. I have tried pressing F8 at start up, but still no joy. Is this a BIOS issue, failed HD controller, or something else?

Feb 19, 2013I have a Sony viao laptop vpc-f1290x. I probably will be unable to give any specs besides windows 7 and i7. Earlier I was playing stacraft 2 after waking it from hibernation and was listening to music with headphones on. I heard a horrific cranking noise and couldn't tell where it came from. A few minutes later I heard it again and realized it came from the fan area or so from the laptop. It turned off and I waited a minute and turned it back on. It started for a few seconds and turned back off. I left it for a few hours then turned it on again and it lasted to the desktop then turned off. I tried a different power source but that hasn't done anything.
