View 1 Replies View RelatedI believe this problem was caused by CCleaner/Revouninstaller, that's the only thing that did changes to my system before this happens. I tried searching for solutions on Google, and I found this guy with the exact same problem.(url) (Screenshot provided by him, perhaps this can help better understand my problem) Tried System Repair/Restore and Safe Mode, none worked. I followed up with a " Last known good config " option, but the problem is still there.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI know there have been a number of posts on this subject but I have been unable to find a solution. I have 2 Windows 7 machines, both running SP1.
My HP Pavilion is running 64-bit and my Dell Latiude E6400 is running 32-bit. I can successfully RDP from my Dell and even my Apple iPad (via an RDP client) into my HP Pavilion. However, the problem is that when I try to RDP from my Pavilion into my Dell I get connected but all I see is a BLACK from the Dell machine. The only thing i can see is the Status bar at teh top telling me that i am connected. A few moments later I get a popup message telling me that the machines have failed to communicate.
I have confirmed that RDP settings are identical on the Pavilion and Dell. I have even downgraded the Dell NVIDIA graphics driver to an older version based on the recommended version on the Dell support web site.
I am using Windows 7 Pro 64bit, trying to use Windows remote desktop to connect to another PC in the LAN and install software. Right click on the .exe and choose run as admin. As soon as I do that I get a black screen with 2 white bars in the upper left hand corner(looks like a pause button). The user who's pc I am connected to sees the log inbox for the admin creds, how ever I can not get to it. How can I make that screen stop popping up?

View 9 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Professional: I think the shutdown button should have a confirmation prompt with a delay, whether on the Sign on page or the Start menu to allow for recovery when inadvertently clicking it. I know I can create my own shutdown, sleep, etc. but that does not resolve the issue, unless the shutdown buttons are disabled on the sign on page and the Start menu. If that cannot be realized the next solution is to make sure the shutdown button is set to other than shutdown by default(yes, it will not say shutdown then, maybe 'sleep') and shutdown is in the sub-menu instead. 'Lock' is not an option as some had suggested, unless it can be swapped with the 'shutdown'. I now found out they can be swapped... but it is misleading, because I thought the Power Button is the physical button on the hardware... thus when I press it now it will cause a lock?!
View 1 Replies View RelatedSome time ago I installed Windows 7 32bit on my tablet (Lenovo X60t) and I have an overly sensitive shutdown button which drives me crazy!I am used to clicking on the start button, keeping the mouse button pressed down, moving the cursor over a program (icon) I want to start and finally releasing the mouse button (instead of click-release on start button and second click-release on the program icon). This works very well on all Windows machines I stumbled over.On my X60t though the shutdown button is overly sensitive and it will react instantly whenever I touch it with the cursor, even though I don't release the mouse button to perform an action! If that was too confusing: Left click on start button with mouse button held down, move cursor over shutdown button => Windows will shutdown instantly

View 2 Replies View RelatedI try to power down (Shut down) my Win 7 PC and it (screen) goes dark but fans are still running. Its like it's only half off. I had this problem once before just after my change from 32 bit to 64 bit OS. Win 7 Pro 64 bit. I researched and after much digging I found the answer. However , as with any fresh install , upgrades abound and recently , the same problem reared its ugly head once again. The problem is , I cant seem to locate the solution this time ! I seem to remember a driver or a hotfix or just a particular ms upgrade.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI admit I did not do an exhaustive search but the issue I am facing is this.
When the screen locks, there is no option to log off the current user. All that is displayed is the password field for the currently logged in account.
I do have some GPO's running but didn't see anything that glared at me that I had removed it.
I am using the technet RTM x64 in our testing environment.
My dell inspiron laptop was working fine, I was using Adobe Lightroom when it gave me An error prompt and shut down. I tried rebooting the computer in safe mode and regular mode, no matter what I do I reacts the same. Takes me to the login screen where I am able to type in my password, then it goes to the welcome screen and stays there. I have a lot of work on this computer and it hasn't been recently backed up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis time the message was DES has been disabled. Enable it or some such nonsense. I have no clue what it means. Luckily I had a PS/2 keyboard to use to hit the ENTER key or my PC would have been disabled again.
When I got back online, every website that uses PWs had to be logged back into. Sites that I never have to log into once I've done it once.
What is this DES and is it related to cookies?
I lock my screen regularly at work and it would be nice to have a background as opposed to the default Windows 7 graphics.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've set up a secondary account on my Windows 7 machine and I need to find out how to disable the switch user thing. In Windows XP, I could hit winflag+L and switch user as I would instantly be taken to the user list.In Windows 7, for some reason they had to complicate everything. When I hit winflag+L it just displays a picture of my account and a "Switch User" button, which for me serves no purpose what so ever.Is there any way I can regain Windows XP's user switch functionality in Windows 7, where winflag+L takes me directly to the user list on the login screen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 7 and I got problem on my desktop. Screen Saver is the only thing that is functioning while all other programs are not available even the start menu. Could this be due to a virus or just a little mistake on its setting? I tried to check problem on desktop properties but when I clicked it, nothing happens. No properties window appear. It seems like applications are no longer accessible.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am seriously at my limit spent 3 days I still cant figure it out, done probably 100 reboots. Contacted ASUS Support they are useless still in contact with them in troubleshooting this matter.
This is my issue.
When I hit the Power Button my screen goes black, before a bios revision it would just reboot my computer. YES I have set Power Options, Power Button to shut down computer.
I noticed I am missing a Sleep Button Action as its not in my menus. Maybe this could be a leading reason why this is happening? Anyone know how to get this option to show up?
I have used another computer cases front panel and same issue occurs so it cannot be my front panel.
I have a gut feeling the OS ACPI is completely being ignored when it comes to what the Power Button should do, if I set it to Sleep/Hibernate/Shut Down SAME thing still occurs.
I have got the Power Button to work successfully maybe 8 times out of the 100. It actually Logged off, Saved Settings and Turned of Computer as what I am trying to get it to do.
I have reinstalled the ACPI driver from ASUS but nothing changed. Have the latest BIOS Revision as well. I have removed battery and cleared CMOS as well. Also loaded default BIOS settings.
My System:
HAF 922
Phenom II 955
M4A79XTD EVO AM3
G Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600
750GB WD Black Cavier
1TB Green Cavier
320GB Cavier
Logitech Illuminated Keyboard (Maybe can use ACPI I think dont know if it can conflict?)
Weird thing, guy at ASUS told me to set it to "S1 Only" in BIOS and it actually worked twice, third time I hit the power button it went back to same behavior.
I noticed my chances are higher for it to turn off properly when the power options advanced settings window is open for some reason.
I hope someone knows how to fix this.

View 5 Replies View Relatedok basically lately my remote desktop is flaky.
Scenario is. Activated Windows 7 N Ultimate as host machine (in other room) Activated Windows 7 Ultimate as client machine, am using it now.
If I remote desktop in after logging in locally on the host, I get the black screen for approx 2 minutes at which point it closes with an error.
If I remote desktop in whilst the host is logged out I can connect and log in fine. If I detach from a running remote desktop session and try to relogin again, I get the black screen sympton again and have to logout locally on the host to be able to login again on remote desktop. If I try to login locally on the host whilst the black screen is up here I get rejected due to remote desktop service been busy. I have to wait for the window to close.
