Some time ago I installed Windows 7 32bit on my tablet (Lenovo X60t) and I have an overly sensitive shutdown button which drives me crazy!I am used to clicking on the start button, keeping the mouse button pressed down, moving the cursor over a program (icon) I want to start and finally releasing the mouse button (instead of click-release on start button and second click-release on the program icon). This works very well on all Windows machines I stumbled over.On my X60t though the shutdown button is overly sensitive and it will react instantly whenever I touch it with the cursor, even though I don't release the mouse button to perform an action! If that was too confusing: Left click on start button with mouse button held down, move cursor over shutdown button => Windows will shutdown instantly
Windows 7 Professional: I think the shutdown button should have a confirmation prompt with a delay, whether on the Sign on page or the Start menu to allow for recovery when inadvertently clicking it. I know I can create my own shutdown, sleep, etc. but that does not resolve the issue, unless the shutdown buttons are disabled on the sign on page and the Start menu. If that cannot be realized the next solution is to make sure the shutdown button is set to other than shutdown by default(yes, it will not say shutdown then, maybe 'sleep') and shutdown is in the sub-menu instead. 'Lock' is not an option as some had suggested, unless it can be swapped with the 'shutdown'. I now found out they can be swapped... but it is misleading, because I thought the Power Button is the physical button on the hardware... thus when I press it now it will cause a lock?!
im trying to shut down my computer by clicking on the shutdown butten but nothing is happening, i also clicked on the restart butten still no results but when i hit the hybenate button it hybenates please tell me how to fix this problem
I try to power down (Shut down) my Win 7 PC and it (screen) goes dark but fans are still running. Its like it's only half off. I had this problem once before just after my change from 32 bit to 64 bit OS. Win 7 Pro 64 bit. I researched and after much digging I found the answer. However , as with any fresh install , upgrades abound and recently , the same problem reared its ugly head once again. The problem is , I cant seem to locate the solution this time ! I seem to remember a driver or a hotfix or just a particular ms upgrade.
I believe this problem was caused by CCleaner/Revouninstaller, that's the only thing that did changes to my system before this happens. I tried searching for solutions on Google, and I found this guy with the exact same problem.(url) (Screenshot provided by him, perhaps this can help better understand my problem) Tried System Repair/Restore and Safe Mode, none worked. I followed up with a " Last known good config " option, but the problem is still there.
I only learnt about this a couple of weeks ago!If you want to make the Aero Peek button at the far right of your Taskbar into a plain and simple Show Desktop button:Simply right-click the Aero Peek button and un-check the "Peek at desktop" option. Et Voila!! That's it!
recently I used a software AVG PC Tuneup and it has never been a problem for me until a couple of days ago when I decided to install it on my DELL. Now, I went to system advisory and did a system scan on recommended settings, I pressed 'fix selected' and my Wifi was disabled, I tried everything. I can't get my wifi to work without plugging in my modem directly ot my pc. I noticed my wifi radio was disabled, so I pressed the F2 button but nothing worked. I am trying to re enable my wifi radio / wireless radio connection button but it won't work.
My program intel my wifi utility tells me my wifi is disabled but I can't enable it.

I have a ASUS Laptop with Intel I3 processer and Windows 7 Home Premium. I recently had a forced shutdown during a Windows upgrade session. Ever since then the Boot and Shutdown times have increased to over 15 minutes. I have run the msconfig unticking all but the antivirus (Kaspersky) and it still takes >15 min to boot and Shutdown. Is there something I can do before I decide to reinstall Windows &. (I dont have a install disk.) The software came with the Computer and I have the OEM code (Bought at Best Buy)
I have two windows updates that keep failing. When i go to shutdown my computer I always have an update icon attached to the shutdown key. The download is always 1of1. Then when i reboot, the update icon is still there. I'm thinking since the two updates are failing, it has something to do with the 1of1 update not downloading properly. I went to windows update to check for new updates, and the only one is the two that keep failing. My computer just blue screened on shutdown today, winch got me thinking i really need to fix this.
When i press my left mouse button it should trigger another button on the keyboard, and as long as left mouse button is pressed they key on the keyboard stays pressed (virtually of course).
Im not sure if this is in the right category, but I think it could be Windows 7 related. My Powersupply died the other day so I purchased a new one and all was fine, except when I shutdown it either freezes or carries on for what seems like forever. The only thing is that on bootup my DVD Drive and SSD have changed ports so my dvd drive is now device00 and my SSD001.
I have a Dell laptop model 1720. I have tried every suggestion made by numerous posts to google but I'm unable to disable my touch pad. Nothing seems to work. Dell had told me the only way to do this would be to return to factory settings. I originally purchased my computer with Vista and recently upgraded to Windows 7. With Vista, disabling the touchpad only required entering a check in a box. Now that I have Windows 7 the options are different. 'Touch Pad Pal' doesn't work at all.
I understand with the correct specs, drivers, vid card (and monitor?) that Windows 7 PCs can have touch screen capability.
The HP TouchSmart IQ545a already has that, with Vista.
If I am in the markert for a new PC, and WANT at least the ability to have a Windows 7 Upgrade voucher for future use AND want touchscreen capability, what do I specifically look for spec-wise?
In other words, are there any presently available PCS apart from the HP, that CAN have the touchscreen capabilty when on Windows 7. And is the HP TouchSmart IQ545a upgradable to Windows 7, anyone know, that would then retain touchscreen capability post-upgrade?
Synaptic Lux Pad V7.4 on PS/2 Port. Cursor works but tapping and L.H click does not work. Everything working ok with an external mouse on USB. Re-installed driver program for above but same problem.
System: Toshiba Satellite A205 S4777 32 bit laptop w/ 2GB RAM, originally Vista Home Premium, clean install of Win 7 Home Premium.Since the clean install of Win 7 I no longer have the Synaptics touchpad listed in device manager. I found it's folder in Windows old files, which is the former Vista system. I copied it over to my Program Files in Win 7, but it still doesn't appearin device manager.I wouldn't care except for the fact that when I type on the keyboard the movement of my palms moves the insertion point or causes the screen to minimize. Could someone direct me as to the steps I need to take to re-install this touch pad?
I have some problem with my keyboard some keyboard keys do not work "FN" and other keys from asus notebook.
i tried install drivers but dont work, only work generic functions. my touch pad have a problem, my notebook have multimedia touchpad and multimedia options dont work =| , only generic functions in touch pad work.
I've heard that the desktop computer & the lap top computers will have a setting on the computer so you can touch what your doing. Well I do have to ponder a question to you guys that are testing Windows Seven out be for the release date comes.
My question's:Will the screen break if you use the touch screen on a lap top? Do I need to get a specially monitor for the touch screen that will be add to Windows Seven? If I do need a specially touch screen, will Windows Seven come up with one that does expect Windows Seven software. An if I wanted to get a touch screen how wood I know if it is a touch screen other then a regular monitor, wood it say it is a touch screen ect.
I notice that 7 will have touch screen capability, I'd appreciate any information on setting up, or general data on such. What I've seen so far is all a little vague.
My Maxtor One Touch 2 USB drive worked fine with XP and Vista 32 bit but Windows 7 does not see it in My Computer. I can'r find a new driver on the Maxtor site even though MS says to go there. Any ideas?
I thought I would give windows 7 a go about a week ago on my Home system and loved it so much I've decided to install on my "carpc" that's fitted in my Toyota Hilux
The install seemed to go well just like it did on my Home system, with even the touch screen being found, only problem I could not get it to Calibrate very precise.
One thing I noticed right away was Windows 7 seems to have a built in Touch Screen interface that only shows the options to when it knows a Touch screen is present, for example you can scroll about in word docs, or internet explorer just by placing your finger anywhere on the screen rather than the little bar on the right you normally have to use which can be hard on a 7" touch screen.
There is a better on screen keyboard that pops out when needed if using the touch screen, also the cursor changes to a small dot rather than a mouse cursor, but changes back as soon as you move the mouse. I'm sure there are other features I not had chance to find yet.
My only problem now is due to me not being able to calibrate the screen as good as normal I decided to install the Software/drivers from the screen manufacture, I used the Vista version which worked well, and now the screen is calibrated perfectly.
The problem is now windows 7 has taken away all the touch screen options in the control panel, plus all the above features I said no longer happen
Any idea how I can get them back while still maintaining my manufactures driver/software?
