View 1 Replies View RelatedI bought this computer with Windows 7 since about 8 months. Within the last two months ago, shutdown process has become very slow. It's take 1-2 minutes every time. Startup time seems normal.I have now licensed kaspersky Internet Security and Comodo free Firewall (Does this affect?)The operating system updates have automatically installing since the beginning of my use. Most of my use is surfing the Internet and web design programs.Asus A52F with 3gb memory.

I'd like to add a little time (maybe 20 seconds) between the time the computer sends the shutdown command to all open processes and the time it sends the kill now command to any processes that are left open.If my process shuts down gracefully it restarts in about 5 seconds, but when it shuts down ungracefully it takes about 10 minutes.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWindows 7 Professional: I think the shutdown button should have a confirmation prompt with a delay, whether on the Sign on page or the Start menu to allow for recovery when inadvertently clicking it. I know I can create my own shutdown, sleep, etc. but that does not resolve the issue, unless the shutdown buttons are disabled on the sign on page and the Start menu. If that cannot be realized the next solution is to make sure the shutdown button is set to other than shutdown by default(yes, it will not say shutdown then, maybe 'sleep') and shutdown is in the sub-menu instead. 'Lock' is not an option as some had suggested, unless it can be swapped with the 'shutdown'. I now found out they can be swapped... but it is misleading, because I thought the Power Button is the physical button on the hardware... thus when I press it now it will cause a lock?!

View 2 Replies View RelatedSome time ago I installed Windows 7 32bit on my tablet (Lenovo X60t) and I have an overly sensitive shutdown button which drives me crazy!I am used to clicking on the start button, keeping the mouse button pressed down, moving the cursor over a program (icon) I want to start and finally releasing the mouse button (instead of click-release on start button and second click-release on the program icon). This works very well on all Windows machines I stumbled over.On my X60t though the shutdown button is overly sensitive and it will react instantly whenever I touch it with the cursor, even though I don't release the mouse button to perform an action! If that was too confusing: Left click on start button with mouse button held down, move cursor over shutdown button => Windows will shutdown instantly

View 2 Replies View RelatedI try to power down (Shut down) my Win 7 PC and it (screen) goes dark but fans are still running. Its like it's only half off. I had this problem once before just after my change from 32 bit to 64 bit OS. Win 7 Pro 64 bit. I researched and after much digging I found the answer. However , as with any fresh install , upgrades abound and recently , the same problem reared its ugly head once again. The problem is , I cant seem to locate the solution this time ! I seem to remember a driver or a hotfix or just a particular ms upgrade.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have a ASUS Laptop with Intel I3 processer and Windows 7 Home Premium. I recently had a forced shutdown during a Windows upgrade session. Ever since then the Boot and Shutdown times have increased to over 15 minutes. I have run the msconfig unticking all but the antivirus (Kaspersky) and it still takes >15 min to boot and Shutdown. Is there something I can do before I decide to reinstall Windows &. (I dont have a install disk.) The software came with the Computer and I have the OEM code (Bought at Best Buy)
View 1 Replies View RelatedI believe this problem was caused by CCleaner/Revouninstaller, that's the only thing that did changes to my system before this happens. I tried searching for solutions on Google, and I found this guy with the exact same problem.(url) (Screenshot provided by him, perhaps this can help better understand my problem) Tried System Repair/Restore and Safe Mode, none worked. I followed up with a " Last known good config " option, but the problem is still there.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have used a power option to hibernate/shutdown my desktop after (say) 2 hours. This works correctly so that the system does not shutdown automatically when I am running interactive applications. At least one scheduled weekly task (McAfee virus scan) can take many hours and I normally run it overnight. But when it is the only task running, the PC hibernates (apparently after the prescribed interval) even though the application is still running.
I do not want to change my power settings to prevent automatic hibernation completely or to lengthen the interval meaninglessly. So: Is there any other way to ensure that the virus scan is allowed to complete before the system hibernates? During a scheduled scan, McAfee has an option to run "in the background". Would cancelling that option have the desired effect?
I have two windows updates that keep failing. When i go to shutdown my computer I always have an update icon attached to the shutdown key. The download is always 1of1. Then when i reboot, the update icon is still there. I'm thinking since the two updates are failing, it has something to do with the 1of1 update not downloading properly. I went to windows update to check for new updates, and the only one is the two that keep failing. My computer just blue screened on shutdown today, winch got me thinking i really need to fix this.
