View 3 RepliesI have a dell inspiron with Windows 7 that I got from Walmart for christmas. It came with a walmart adminstrative account, a guest account, and another user account. I Changed the administrator username And password, kept the guest one, And deleted the third account--- all through the Walmart admin account. When I restarted my computer however, both the walmart admin And guest account were gone and only the third account with a required password (which I do not know) and a blank user account that requires a password remained.
There is no open guest account. I Tried to use the previous walmart username password And the new one I created and neither work. Now I am locked out of my own laptop. I tried booting in safe mode but I still needed the aforementioned password..perhaps I did it incorrectly?
I would like to solve this without having to reinstall windows 7 os (but would like to know how to do that just in case). Let me know if any other information is needed in your assessment.
Laptop, Windows 7, ASUS Computer. Can't get by "password" requirement. Somehow old password (s) don't work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI admit I did not do an exhaustive search but the issue I am facing is this.
When the screen locks, there is no option to log off the current user. All that is displayed is the password field for the currently logged in account.
I do have some GPO's running but didn't see anything that glared at me that I had removed it.
I am using the technet RTM x64 in our testing environment.
My dell inspiron laptop was working fine, I was using Adobe Lightroom when it gave me An error prompt and shut down. I tried rebooting the computer in safe mode and regular mode, no matter what I do I reacts the same. Takes me to the login screen where I am able to type in my password, then it goes to the welcome screen and stays there. I have a lot of work on this computer and it hasn't been recently backed up.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis time the message was DES has been disabled. Enable it or some such nonsense. I have no clue what it means. Luckily I had a PS/2 keyboard to use to hit the ENTER key or my PC would have been disabled again.
When I got back online, every website that uses PWs had to be logged back into. Sites that I never have to log into once I've done it once.
What is this DES and is it related to cookies?
I lock my screen regularly at work and it would be nice to have a background as opposed to the default Windows 7 graphics.

However, when the screen locks, I no longer am able to hear the Windows 7 email notification sound from outlook when exchange sends it a message and have no notification of new emails. Is there a way to force Windows 7 to display this information. I know it is possible in Windows 8, but I can't find anything on Windows 7.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've set up a secondary account on my Windows 7 machine and I need to find out how to disable the switch user thing. In Windows XP, I could hit winflag+L and switch user as I would instantly be taken to the user list.In Windows 7, for some reason they had to complicate everything. When I hit winflag+L it just displays a picture of my account and a "Switch User" button, which for me serves no purpose what so ever.Is there any way I can regain Windows XP's user switch functionality in Windows 7, where winflag+L takes me directly to the user list on the login screen?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm using Windows 7 and I got problem on my desktop. Screen Saver is the only thing that is functioning while all other programs are not available even the start menu. Could this be due to a virus or just a little mistake on its setting? I tried to check problem on desktop properties but when I clicked it, nothing happens. No properties window appear. It seems like applications are no longer accessible.

I thought I had downloaded 7100 (and burned it to a disk) but after installing it, it was actually 7077. When I had the 7000 installed I didn't have this problem. I just touch the keyboard and my desktop would show again.

View 4 Replies View RelatedWe just got a new computer that included Windows 7 software. My simple question is this. When we walk away from the computer for awhile and return to do something, the screen locks up and asks for a password which I recorded when we first set up the computer. I don't want to have to type in a password each time someone wants to use the computer since this is our family, home use computer. How do I turn off this option?

View 3 Replies View RelatedAnyone know if one can enlarge the window for entering a password on the welcome screen?
Possibly due to my screen resolution settings, the login area for my password is quite small. Once the password is entered and the system finishes booting - everything is the size I like - which is on the larger side since I tend to sit relaxed and away from the 20" screen.
Why doesn't the logon screen show me my account with the password input field already availible? It used to, because I only have one account on my laptop and so whenever I turned it on or when it woke up from sleep, the account was already selected so I could just entered my password. Now the Switch users button has appeared and I have to first click on the account so I can then input the password. I found the solution to disable then Switch users butto, but the account still must be clicked first, as if there were more accounts on the laptop.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7. I switched it on this morning, got the usual login screen but without the welcome noise. I can't enter my password, the key strokes I'm entering just don't register on the screen. I've switched off and switched back on and no joy. I've gone to Safe Mode and just get the same problem, I can't type my password, the flashing cursor doesn't move in the password box. I've pressed F8 and tried to load the last good configuration but just get the same problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedYou can change the lock/boot screen on Windows 7 by adding the following key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE]SoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionAuthenticationLogonUIBackground
Add a DWord value to that key of OEMBackground = 1.
Finally, create a JPG < 250k of the correct size for your default resolution named backgroundDefault.jpg and place it in:
C:WindowsSystem32oobeinfoBackgrounds
Now when you lock or boot you will have a customized image.
Have not tried it my self but saw it somewhere, i dont know if this has been posted but im sure a lot of people would be interested.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have two machines that I've installed Windows 7 Professional 32-bit on and I'm having the same problem on both. When I turn on my computer it goes to the login welcome screen and stops. I have to click on my picture for it to continue logging into the desktop. I have no password and only one admin account set up on either one.
I tried setting up the auto login using netplwiz in the search bar but it doesn't do anything. I set up a password and set up the autologin and it didn't work on either machine. So now I'm back to no password and in need of help. Anyone got any ideas?
I recently installed Windows 7 64bit on the second partition of my main HDD. It worked flawlessly until I restarted earlier today. Now whenever I boot into Windows 7 the login screen shows up with my account, but when i attempt to enter my password the keystrokes are not registering.I have tried using all 8 usb ports in the back of my comp, but the keyboard still does not work. My usb mouse works fine. I can also boot and login to Windows XP, on the other partition with no problems, and the keyboard works fine.
