View 0 Replies View RelatedI have a desktop machine that is connected to my work domain. Most days it works fine, but after the machine has been sitting idle for a couple days and I can't login. I hit Ctrl Alt Delete, then enter my username and password, but then it takes me back to the Ctrl Alt Delete page without any error messages.I can still access the C drive over the network but I just can't log on. I also tried using Remote Desktop from another machine but had no success.I think it's hardware related, because I have two identical machines and they are both behaving like this. However, all of the drivers have been updated, including the BIOS, and I've got all the latest Windows updates on there too.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI there a way to change the location of the password box on the Windows 7 logon ScreenI managed to remove the Picture Frame on the login screen using instruction found on this forum months ago, but now, I am an assassin's creed fan, and I have changed the background screen to the Assassin's Creed Logo and would like to move the "password input box" down so that It does not end up n the middle logo.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI would like to change the wording on the Windows 7 logon page from "PressCTRL+ALT+DELETE to unlock this computer" to "Press CTRL+ALT+INSERT to unlock this computer". My company uses a lot of VMware View desktops and it's tedious to continually inform users of the keystrokes. I have searched through the forums here and cannot find the file that I need to configure. I have downloaded Resource Hacker and love it but I just need the file name.

View 0 Replies View Relatedmy issue is as follows:
->Win 7 Pro
->Boots up shows "press ctrl+alt+del" screen
->Once this is pressed, the prompt for the password does not show (mouse moves not frozen)
->Unable to recover from rescue cd
After toiling with this issue for some time I found that when the computer is shut down properly, the next login does not show the password prompt. If the computer is shut down via a 5 second power-button press, the password prompt appears the next time the computer is turned on after the "start widows normally" dos screen. I had an older image of the os on a harddrive (replaced HD with solid state) that I used to "restore" from. The issue happened again some 6 days later. I can not keep restoring/backing up all the time as it is very time consuming (there is a lot of changing data on this computer and having to back up like this all the time is not a realistic solution).
This issue is happening on a Workstation PC with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit....the last software update before login crash was Trend Micro corporate Officescan if that helps at all.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI wish to totally remove the CTRL & Mouse Wheel/Scroll facility from all applications. I am aware you can do this in some programs individually, but sadly not all have this facility. My Logitech MX Performance mouse is amazing, especially the free-wheel!! Sadly the majority of programs I use do not appreciate this feature, especially when using CTRL & C to, oh wait, your not copying, your magnifying to 300%...
View 4 Replies View RelatedNot sure if i am in the right area to ask this but wanted to see if the below is possible:We are working in a large business that has the good old 'Ctrl Alt Del' option enabled (like most) - so for anyone to log into the computer (whatever OS) it prompts for a username/passwordI wanted to see if we can add a link onto the screen (dialog box) - Basically if a user has forgotten their password - instead of calling the Helpdesk of that company - they could click this link and it would take you to a internal page (that the company has setup to reset/go through the steps of resetting their password)
View 1 Replies View Relatedis it possible to edit Ctrl+Alt+Del screen "links" and its position?
I would like to add for example "Shut down", "Restart" instead of "Lock this computer", "Switch user", and would like to move it to the right:
MS paint preview
If that is impossible, then maybe it is possible to get rid of Ctrl+Alt+Del screen at all and instead of it, like in windows xp, would appear task manager?
Got problem with my laptop HP Compaq 6910p. The OS is Windows 7 x64 Professional.Windows starts normally till "CTRL+ALT+DELATE screen"When I press those 3 buttons for a second the text diseappers and then again Windows asks me to press those 3 buttons. So I am not able to enter my login and password. If I start the PC in safe mode I'm able to login to Windows.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm thinking right now it's an SSD corruption as nothing else makes sense. I haven't done any installing, downloading, or updating in about a week and after restarting today I got startup repair loading and telling me I had a corrupt registry.
It claimed to fix the problem and now when I boot up I get a black screen with cursor. Most threads tell you to hit ctrl-alt-del to launch task manager but ctrl-alt-del gives me nothing. After about 60s of this cursor my computer will auto-restart itself and repeat this process.
I've done about 3 system restores - all claim to be successful but do not fix the problem. I've also run chkdsk /f from startup repair command prompt which found problems and again, claimed to fix them but did not fix this boot problem.
This leads me to believe it's a corrupt SSD but I'd prefer to exercise all of my options before starting an RMA.
Is there a way to create a hidden windows 7 Ctrl Alt Del Screen? The enter a manual password and username only shows up when you press the three buttons but there is still a way to select users. I want to do this because I am setting a hidden account up and the only way to get in to it is by having a hidden account. Problem is I don't want people to know about the Ctrl Alt Del feature unless the press the right keys.

View 0 Replies View RelatedI know there is a thread running round with issues regarding Win 7 desktop not showing icons and the solutions to it.even CTRL ALT DEL don't work. Just shows me a black screen which fades back to a icon-less desktop. Solutions regarding finding explorer.exe and running it to show desktop icons don't work either.Just pops out the explorer window showing the desktop. And don't even start on right clicking desktop and select show icons.... cause that's the first thing I tried. System restore in safe mode yielded no results. Virus and malware scans turn up a clean bill. I'm only short of reformatting the pc, and I'm not even sure if I'm able to run the reformat from windows.
View 3 Replies View Related1) I have windows 7 and every time I press ctrl+alt+del a blue window pops up that takes up my whole screen and displays various options such as "change user" "change password" "Task Manager" etc. I just want it to immediately go to task manager every time without having to reconfirm with me!
2) How do I prevent a program from accessing a certain folder when that program is executed? For example if I play Civilization 5 and I want to play without my mods folder...how do I prevent the game from reading that specific folder?
