Is there a way to create a hidden windows 7 Ctrl Alt Del Screen? The enter a manual password and username only shows up when you press the three buttons but there is still a way to select users. I want to do this because I am setting a hidden account up and the only way to get in to it is by having a hidden account. Problem is I don't want people to know about the Ctrl Alt Del feature unless the press the right keys.
I know there is a thread running round with issues regarding Win 7 desktop not showing icons and the solutions to it.even CTRL ALT DEL don't work. Just shows me a black screen which fades back to a icon-less desktop. Solutions regarding finding explorer.exe and running it to show desktop icons don't work either.Just pops out the explorer window showing the desktop. And don't even start on right clicking desktop and select show icons.... cause that's the first thing I tried. System restore in safe mode yielded no results. Virus and malware scans turn up a clean bill. I'm only short of reformatting the pc, and I'm not even sure if I'm able to run the reformat from windows.
Not sure if i am in the right area to ask this but wanted to see if the below is possible:We are working in a large business that has the good old 'Ctrl Alt Del' option enabled (like most) - so for anyone to log into the computer (whatever OS) it prompts for a username/passwordI wanted to see if we can add a link onto the screen (dialog box) - Basically if a user has forgotten their password - instead of calling the Helpdesk of that company - they could click this link and it would take you to a internal page (that the company has setup to reset/go through the steps of resetting their password)
is it possible to edit Ctrl+Alt+Del screen "links" and its position?
I would like to add for example "Shut down", "Restart" instead of "Lock this computer", "Switch user", and would like to move it to the right: MS paint preview
If that is impossible, then maybe it is possible to get rid of Ctrl+Alt+Del screen at all and instead of it, like in windows xp, would appear task manager?
Got problem with my laptop HP Compaq 6910p. The OS is Windows 7 x64 Professional.Windows starts normally till "CTRL+ALT+DELATE screen"When I press those 3 buttons for a second the text diseappers and then again Windows asks me to press those 3 buttons. So I am not able to enter my login and password. If I start the PC in safe mode I'm able to login to Windows.
I'm thinking right now it's an SSD corruption as nothing else makes sense. I haven't done any installing, downloading, or updating in about a week and after restarting today I got startup repair loading and telling me I had a corrupt registry.
It claimed to fix the problem and now when I boot up I get a black screen with cursor. Most threads tell you to hit ctrl-alt-del to launch task manager but ctrl-alt-del gives me nothing. After about 60s of this cursor my computer will auto-restart itself and repeat this process.
I've done about 3 system restores - all claim to be successful but do not fix the problem. I've also run chkdsk /f from startup repair command prompt which found problems and again, claimed to fix them but did not fix this boot problem.
This leads me to believe it's a corrupt SSD but I'd prefer to exercise all of my options before starting an RMA.
1) I have windows 7 and every time I press ctrl+alt+del a blue window pops up that takes up my whole screen and displays various options such as "change user" "change password" "Task Manager" etc. I just want it to immediately go to task manager every time without having to reconfirm with me!
2) How do I prevent a program from accessing a certain folder when that program is executed? For example if I play Civilization 5 and I want to play without my mods folder...how do I prevent the game from reading that specific folder?
I have a desktop machine that is connected to my work domain. Most days it works fine, but after the machine has been sitting idle for a couple days and I can't login. I hit Ctrl Alt Delete, then enter my username and password, but then it takes me back to the Ctrl Alt Delete page without any error messages.I can still access the C drive over the network but I just can't log on. I also tried using Remote Desktop from another machine but had no success.I think it's hardware related, because I have two identical machines and they are both behaving like this. However, all of the drivers have been updated, including the BIOS, and I've got all the latest Windows updates on there too.
I was checking Microsoft Office Word Starter 2010 and I realized that one of the files had hidden text in it. From Options - Display, I chose show hidden text and it was "Top of Form" at the top of the page. But I got curious about this and made some search and I realized that you can hide text in a txt file with a stream method and also there can be hidden streams in processes also. How can I find out if a doc(x) file has no streams in it. I mean the hidden text may be seen by the method of Options - Display; but can someone hide something with a password in a doc(x) file? If yes, how can I find this out?
for ACER 5740 G WIN 7 home premiumi enabled the administrator in WIN 7 Home Premium with a password and hide this for the log in. All other users are standard users. Now I am unable to login to the administrator log in opiton. How can I unhide the administrator log in. Since I did this I have administrator password.
Some of my important system files are no longer hidden and I can't hide them even with the Command Prompt "attrib" command. Files such as bootmgr and ntldr are shown and I can't hide them. Also, show Protected System files is unchecked and show hidden files is also unchecked so they shouldn't be showing. I tried to re-add their system file attribute but I keep getting an "Access Denied" error in CMD and I do not have user account control on and I'm on a Default Administrator Account.
I saw my someone using windows 7 and he got two taskbar one below (default) and another one on the top (customized). Now i got my Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit and want to do the same but i found nowhere to get the new taskbar on the top of windows desktop screen.
so i came home from work and my pc was showing on the screen "BOOTMGR is missing" to restart pres ctrl+alt+delete. i have no idea what to do. i have beenrunning an ocz agility 3 60gb ssd as my boot drive for about 3 weeks and it has been working flawlessly. nothing in the system has changed.
Today i restarted my p.c after updating the windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.. but after i restarted it, suddenly the screen went black and this was displayed: "JLPRF is compressed Press ctrl+alt+delete to restart" i followed the command, and every time i did, the p.c restarted and the same message was displayed... i even check the cables, ram and other connection but every thing was fine.. I tried installing the windows again using the DVD, but no use.. The same message was displayed over and over again every time i restarted the rig.. (I never altered any bios setting)
I would like to change the wording on the Windows 7 logon page from "PressCTRL+ALT+DELETE to unlock this computer" to "Press CTRL+ALT+INSERT to unlock this computer". My company uses a lot of VMware View desktops and it's tedious to continually inform users of the keystrokes. I have searched through the forums here and cannot find the file that I need to configure. I have downloaded Resource Hacker and love it but I just need the file name.
How can I create a desktop shortcut or similar to turn of the screen. And then how would I turn it back on again?I am trying to avoid any kind of power management except that which I want secondly I dont want to use the screen power button or that will be the next thing to fail I dont want to use the computer power button either if I can avoid it Power saving seems to be the only thing on this computer to give me grief, eg locks up after waking up from hibernation Win7x32 Prem sp1 genuine 60GB oztek ssd system drive with 16.4 GB free

yesterday i turned off computer and everything was working perfectly. today i turned it on and i cant login to my user account and theres only 1 user (me). my password has 2 @@'s and the ctrl and alt were disabled i think because i also tried using the onscreen keyboard and cant make the symbols either. my keyboard is portuguese and uses alt + ctrl+2 to make these symbols. I CANT LOGIN TO MY COMPUTER! (not this 1).
Remember i already tried the Onscreen keyboard! ctrl and alt doesnt work either
I had this issue with a previous installation of windows 7 and fixed it, but i have NO IDEA where that answer is on the internet, or how I got to it. I just reinstalled (the same build) Windows 7 Ultimate because i was getting gunked up with stuff, so a fresh install is nice.Anyhow, i know the problem is not a drivers or build issue. When i type my password to login AND/OR ctrl+alt+del, i get a black screen for 10-15 seconds.
I have a wierd problem which I think is related to a dodgy keyboard. basically my customer has a G61-401sa laptop in which the Ctrl key seems to be constantly 'on' or pressed if you will. It's taken me a while to notice this ( through doing other things to her system) and in all honesty it isnt on all the time, however I noticed it yesterday after I was setting up her email and tried to paste her address into the required area (crtl +V) since then its on and off, more 'on' than off and I wondered if its possible to dissable the Ctrl key completely? obviously at some point she needs to replace the keyboard but I know shes loath to spend more money on a laptop she's had nothing but trouble with (loads of problems since she bought it from currys but thats another story)
Sometimes you want to do CTRL+Z in an application but since it's not focused you happen to do it in windows explorer by error, undoing stuff you've done like renaming/moving directories. So I would like to disable the CTRL+Z hotkey in windows explorer (not in other applications though); I don't use it anyway.
Adding the pc to our domain seems to have caused the ctrl-alt-del key combination at login to no longer work. Other Windows 7 pc's on the domain work fine with the ctrl-alt-del key combo. It's not the keyboard and I can use the onscreen keyboard option to mouse click on the keys to bring up the login screen. Also when the screen saver turns on the ctrl-alt-del also fails to work. I have run several fix tries:
- Boot and F8 into repair computer...found no errors. - F8 into command screen and ran sfc /scannow and found no integrity violations. - Ran the win7 boot memory tester and it came back with no errors.
Short of wiping and reinstalling, which I don't have the time to do. I have tested the keyboard on another computer and it works fine.
