How Can The Screen Smaller
Mar 18, 2009I am having trouble with a “big screen”. Sometime I’m supposed to click on something and it is off the screen at the bottom. Sometimes I can shrink it with Ctrl-Minus key but not always. How can I make the screen smaller and make it stay that way?

Everything just looks wider and slightly out of focus, I'd really love it to be back to normal!

Dec 25, 2008Right now I have a single 640 gig HDD that everything's on. I've got a laptop too that I'm gonna be taking out on rotations eventually. I wanted to get a new smaller (250GB) HDD and put my Vista on that, so my 640 will be data only (then I could take it with me in an external enclosure and leave the desktop for my mom to use til I come back and collect it). I was gonna DBAN the 640, but I wanted to get the data off of it first- about 170 GB of stuff that I'd rather not lose.
My question is-
Can I install Vista on the smaller drive, boot with that, and access files on the other drive? Would it work if there's another Vista running on the other drive? (both SATA).
Bootup - What's Normal Screen Logo?
Mar 24, 2008I've checked and General is "normal" and boot is not ticked.I get about 15 secs of blackness, 5 secs of progress bar at the bottom,another 10 secs of blackness and then Vista.If I tick no gui in boot, I get "aurora" for the whole duration with no progress bar.

Feb 14, 2010while I was playing my computer suddenly restarted but it wasn´t a normal restart cuz the screen just went black and nothing happened, after waiting several minutes I had to shut it down. When I turned it on nothing happened again and my screen went black so I kept trying to restart it andfinally after some attempts I got it to start but while it was loading vista a blue screen appeared and it restarted again. So I managed to restart it on safe mode and I got this blue screen again and a restart. This time the restart was worst cuz it won´t load anything, the screens just turns black, can´t access the BOOT menu or anything. I manged to take this picture of the blue screen.

Apr 18, 2009As I am entering info my computer just randomly opens a new blank browser page, or the screen image shrinks, or the font changes in an email. Doesn't happen all the time. The "T" key seems to be the problem because it quits functioning until I click on the point where I was typing. This is a real problem since T is a commonly used letter and it is part of my name so it comes up in login situations. There might be other letters involved but this one is the most noticeable. Is it a sticky key problem?

Feb 22, 2010My "ulstata.sys" driver got corrupted and had to completely rebuild the boot options. On doing that I am now back to the original SP2 Boot Screen and am not able to change it back to my custom image via TuneUp Utilities. I'm kind of guessing one of the "winload.exe.mui" file isn't allowing the change.
"C:WindowsSystem32Booten-US" has only "winresume.exe.mui" `whereas
"C:WindowsSystem32en-US" has both?
I've tried copying the loadfile in System32/en-US but it's not letting me paste in the System32/Boot/en-US due to some folder protectioin. although i've taken full control. Tuneup Utilities is ssaying it's applied the boot screen but vista is still loading the SP2 boot screen.

Mar 23, 2009I have used true image a number of times & have had good results.I recently tried backing up& had 2 blue screen crashes.I had installed virtual pc just before this and was wondering if true image can't backup a hdd with virtual pc installed or is it Vista ?If it is because of vpc how am I going to backup my hdd without installing vpc ?

Mar 26, 2008before this i try to install vista on my machine. and for sure in that time we need to create user (adminstrator) before we start using the vista. after that, i try to keep an image for my vista because if anything happen, it will be more easier to me. then, i try to image on my machine again. but, there already have i user which mean the administrator that i create during the 1st installation. so, when i do the image, i need to put the different user name because the user name that i try to create already exist. so that will create 2 different user when imaging is done. is there any way how to delete the 1st user? so when imaging is done, it will only 1 user (new user) and the windows will be automatically show the desktop. (i know how to delete from control panel>user account). actually this is for my client.

I want to copy (image) the current hard drive to the SimpleTech, replace the hard drive and copy the image of from the SimpleTech back to the new drive.

Printers And Vista: Print A CD, The Image Is WAY Off-center

Nov 2, 2009I am trying to attach pictures to an outgoing email and they are inserting into the email way too large. Is there a solution to this? I have tried using Microsoft Picture Gallery and creating an email that way, but it won't let me. Outlook had a "wizard" for pictures so it was really easy.

For instance, I generally use Times New Roman 12, but it shows up in the display about like a #8 font used to. When I print it out, the font is the size that it should be. (I changed to Arial 12 here)The type of font does'nt seem to make much difference. When I used Arial 12 it shows up a little larger, but not much. I have Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 2. Is there a fix for this problem, short of up grading to a modern version of WP?

Servers = Programs included with the OS which accepts commands from the Internet or LAN external to My Computer. Interpreters = Programs which will execute any kind of source code whatsoever like HyperTextMarkUpLanguage HTML or Basic or C+ or Fortran or whatever.
I know of no other kinds of programs unless you can tell me now that may work ndependent of User Control. If I could ID these rouge programs running in the background it would be better than the security updates themselves.

Mar 23, 2008In previous years I used Ghost to create the image of my harddrive. It was simple, easy procedure and very fast. I booted up computer to the command prompt and restored harddrive in few minutes!!! But it was FAT32 system. Now, with Vista I do not have a choice but to use NTSF file system. Which program offers the most features for disk image creation? I know it will be impossible for me to restore image from command boot option, but what the options I have? Can I for example take the harddrive to another computer and restore the image in there? Or create bootable CD (DVD?) and restore the image that way? Or I have to first install Windows and then restore?

Oct 9, 2009I calculated that to migrate to Vista or Windows 7 will cost close to =A32000. not including my time - It will take around 100 hours. This is because many of my existing software / tools / utilities does not work on Vista and the vendors expect me to buy a new license because it is a "new product" even though it does exactly what it did before - just on a different OS. Even the products that do work have problems and glitches that have to be worked around. All this takes time MY VALUABLE time. In other words I am suffering because Microsoft want money. In the past some versions of windows were worth migrating to Windows 2000 and Windows XP were great
But most of the improvements to Vista / Windows 7 are mostly transparent to normal users - even monster power users like me. I believe Microsoft have a serious attitude problem. just wait until they take full advantage of TPM to screw even more money out of us. If I am wrong please point out a real tangible benefit that Vista or Windows 7 brings to a large percentage of users or to me. I also I can no longer buy a laptop because they only come with Vista GPU drivers (some come with buggy unsupported XP GPU drivers - great)
What Is Normal? (Do I Have A Virus?)
Dec 6, 2008I have an HP dv5-1000us running Vista Home Premium 64, and I've had it for several months. Recently it has developed a tendancy to randomly freeze solid (no control alt delete, no coming back from being frozen, must hard restart). It got much worse when I tried to install the new Zune update (3.1); now it will freeze like clockwork about 3 minutes after I open Zune. If I don't open Zune, it's much more random but it still happens. Another symptom is that I started getting a message that my sound driver software had to close due to a "problem". Sound still works, I just get the annoying message. Nothing I do seems to fix it, including Bios flashing, driver/device install/reinstall, etc.
I was really surprised when I looked at the system monitor. I have 4 gigs of RAM installed, and it runs at a steady 1.7gb usage with no programs open. I have disabled the animation stuff, too. When I open Zune it shoots up to around 2gb. The processor varies between 4 to 20% with no programs open, and is at 95-99% when Zune is open. As I'm typing this, I have flock, skype, and outlook open, the processor is running at about 30% and the RAM usage holds at a steady 1.76gb. Question: Is this normal? Or is it time (already) to bust out the restore disks?
