Can upload an ISO image of a Full Vista Install Disc (not upgrade, not recovery only)? I have a product key, so it wouldn't be illegal. Please, as I don't have any recovery discs and HP is making me pay for it.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI was given a HP Compaq 6820s by a good friend with a bad hard drive. He had not made recovery discs, and HP can't supply them. I can replace the hard drive no problem, but don't want to fork over the $$$ for a new Vista OS. I have XP pro, but there seems to be too many issues with downgrading. I have the COA on the bottom of the computer. Since the OS was definitely paid for with the original purchase, can I get an OS from MS for this computer?

Clean install from an Upgrade Disk
Clean install with a full version of Vista
Then download and install Vista Service Pack 1
Vista 32 bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone
Vista 64 bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Five Language Standalone for x64-based Systems
Then download and install Vista Service Pack 2. 32bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Five Language Standalone. 64bit: Windows Vista Service Pack 2 Five Language Standalone for x64-based Systems. Once Vista and both service packs are installed and you are at the desktop, install only your Security software (eg Anti Virus, Firewall etc) and update them........
my D drive is in red and apparently full. i am not getting the warning sign yet but was curious if I can somehow just delete this drive. yes i know that it is a recovery drive. we do have a recovery disk handy. when i click on it it says "warning this area of your hard drive comntains files used for your PC Recovery. Do not delete or alter....." so if I were to delete it will is mess my computer up? do i really need to back it up to a cd since i already have a recovery disk? is there a way to just keep the drive but not have the full red bar there?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a Vizio 37" LCD TV. I have it connected to the VGA port of my Gateway Laptop running Windows Vista. The TV manual says the optimal resolution for the TV is 1366 x 768 at 60 hz. It is a 780p TV. No matter what resolution I choose in Vista the picture on the TV never fully fills the screen. At 1024x768 it fills the height of the TV, but has black borders along the edges. If I choose 1280x800 or 1280x768 then it has a thick black border around all edges of the display. I searched for monitor drivers and tried several generic monitor drivers. Nothing seems to work. how to get the image to be the full size of the TV display.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have purchased a boxed Acronis True Image Home 2009. Installed it on my fairly new PC running on Vista (with all the updates) Home Premium and registered and updated the software with Acronis. I have immersed myself in the Acronis User Manual until I was ready to go. I used the True Image wizard to create a bootable rescue disc. Placed the disc in my PC's combo DVD/CD Rom/RW drive. There is the usual whirring noise and the Windows Explorer pane opens up showing a restore manager folder containing 7 files (no .exe file) then more 'gravel' noise and after waiting for ten minutes absolute silence and nothing more happened. Assumtion: the disc is not bootable.
I made several more rescue discs and tried to run them several ways including starting up the PC with the disc in the drive. That opens up Windows in the usual way but no disc boot up! Acronis web support have sent me a link to download an ISO file of the True Image software which I have downloaded and burnt the ISO image file to CD. But this still will not boot up. Not sure where to go from here? This is the brand-leader in backup/cloning software and a near-new PC. Is there something I have overlooked? Have I got to go 'messing' with my PC's BIOS - not keen on that??
Recently I noticed that my Internet's upload speed is EXTREMELY low. No problem with Download, I have almost a 3M Download. But i ran a speed test on peedtest.net -The Global Broadband Speed Test, and downlaod was fine, no problem, but i simply wouldn't upload. I tried sending an email with a small attachment, very slow, took like 30 minutes to add the attachement. I have AVG 8.0 Internet Security, with everything turned on.

She has already paid for vista so is there a way of getting the vista disc (for her pc) for free?? if so/if not where can i get one and will this work ok??

I'm trying to install an image editing software called PhotoPlus X2, which claims to be Vista compatible. However, when I run the setup.exe I get a Windows installer error 1619. I'm running Vista Business SP1 x86 and I'm logging in to the desktop with an admin account. Updating the Windows installer to version 4.5 didn't.

If I make a install cd from the XP machine, can I install it on my other Compaq machine that is running vista (it came with XP Media Center Edition 2005 but it had all this crap preloaded onto it). Or, can I reformat the XP Media Center Edition PC, and then make an install dvd out of that (i.e. will it remove the crap that Compaq put on it?).

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm wondering if there is a simple way to take your Vista Installation Disc and use it to create a custom installation disc that also includes updated drivers and updated hotfixes. The goal would be that during a clean install, those updated drivers and Windows Updates are installed automatically.
For a specific example, I use a USB Wireless Adapter. If I could create a custom windows disc that includes those drivers, then I my USB Wireless Adapter would be recognized and I could therefore allow Windows to connect to the Internet during Setup to see if there are any hotfixes and updates.
I just wiped my laptop and installed a new copy of Vista, I installed all the new drivers but now when I try to dock my laptop my computer slows significantly gets very sluggish and freezes at times. When I drop the resolution on the laptop display from 1440 to 1280 everything runs fine. Not sure what to problem is but its killing my performance.

(i know how to delete from control panel>user account). actually this is for my client.

I want to copy (image) the current hard drive to the SimpleTech, replace the hard drive and copy the image of from the SimpleTech back to the new drive.

I have an Epson stylus photo R200 printer. It prints phots and CDs. The photo function works fine with Vista, but when I try to print a CD, the image is WAY off-center. Are there any Vista patches or downloads that will correct this problem?
