I have used true image a number of times & have had good results.I recently tried backing up& had 2 blue screen crashes.I had installed virtual pc just before this and was wondering if true image can't backup a hdd with virtual pc installed or is it Vista ?If it is because of vpc how am I going to backup my hdd without installing vpc ?
States it is Vista Compatible. Has anyone used it and if so what is your impression.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have purchased a boxed Acronis True Image Home 2009. Installed it on my fairly new PC running on Vista (with all the updates) Home Premium and registered and updated the software with Acronis. I have immersed myself in the Acronis User Manual until I was ready to go. I used the True Image wizard to create a bootable rescue disc. Placed the disc in my PC's combo DVD/CD Rom/RW drive. There is the usual whirring noise and the Windows Explorer pane opens up showing a restore manager folder containing 7 files (no .exe file) then more 'gravel' noise and after waiting for ten minutes absolute silence and nothing more happened. Assumtion: the disc is not bootable.
I made several more rescue discs and tried to run them several ways including starting up the PC with the disc in the drive. That opens up Windows in the usual way but no disc boot up! Acronis web support have sent me a link to download an ISO file of the True Image software which I have downloaded and burnt the ISO image file to CD. But this still will not boot up. Not sure where to go from here? This is the brand-leader in backup/cloning software and a near-new PC. Is there something I have overlooked? Have I got to go 'messing' with my PC's BIOS - not keen on that??
i dont have a windows disc (one was not supplied when pc purchased) and i had a few problems booting up windows, i managed to sort it but i am paranoid now incase it happens again as i don't have a boot disc so the above sounds perfect, but i don't have a clue where to start.

I have successfully installed it on my fairly new Vista PC and found a way of creating and using a rescue disc by adjusting the bootup sequence of the drives. I now find that each time I try to do a backup to my Buffalo external HDD - reformatted to NTFS - I get the error message "Failed to execute the task - Error #1364 - A specified authentication package is unknown (0xFFF0)"
Acronis web support say I should edit the registry as a registry entry is missing in the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlLsa. This surprised me as my PC is not on a network. This is covered in You may not be able to connect to a remote server, the Workstation service may stop, and you may receive an "Error 1364" error message in Windows Server 2003 or in Windows Small Business Server 2003........
I am working on a Toshiba Satellite A135, that has Vista Home Basic 32-bit installed on a 64-bit machine. Since I have installed Service Pack 2, I have gotten a BSoD on numerous occasions; actually every time I start it up. Here is the last message I got from Windows:

My 80gb Vista laptop is out of space, so I bought a 250gb drive and installed it in a USB 2.0 enclosure. I have tried both the True Image clone procedure and also partitioning the 250gb with 2 partitions then backing up the original drive to one of the partitions, replacing the 80 with 250 and tried to recover into the blank partition but no success.
I get the cannot boot message and must use the install cd to enable the new clone but I still am unable to boot into the cloned version. I have had great luck with Acronis but just cannot make this work. I am using True Image Home V10 Build 4.942) with Windows Vista Home Basic with SVC Pk1. Are there any of the drive manufacturers that have a utility that will get around this boot problem with Vista? I am ready to buy another drive just to get this done.
I recently upgraded my computer, and did a clean install of Vista 64. But since esterday i'm getting lots of crashes resulting in a blue screen. Here is the window i get when i get back to vista :

View 4 Replies View RelatedI am able to backup my C drive to my D drive with no problems. The problem I have is that I cannot restore my C drive from the D drive that I have it backed up on. I tried to do it from both the desktop, and from the original install CD, and also a rescue disk that I created. I keep getting an error message telling me to restart. Nothing works that I try. Do any of you know what the difference is between True Image 11 and TI 2009?

So I decided to: update all my drivers that I could think to update (used device manager to do so). I cleaned my computers inside. Updates my virus scanner - am protected. (Avast) cleaned my registery (I used a downloaded registry cleaner from a computer magazine website, they reviewed it, and i tried it) Disk Defrag used. Finally found some info when my computer crashed. Went online to find information and got some software that helped me get more info about my problems. (see attachments)....

I was able to restore the image to an external drive and I can connect to my laptop via USB/eSATA and see everything on the drive. My email accounts - I had about 10 and with a bit of pain I can recover them. My rules - I had about 200 and only with a LOT of pain and time will I be able to recovery them. Any advice (instructions at the dummy level would be welcome) as to how I can recover my email accounts and rules (especially my rules).
Has anyone out there actually restored an iamge of their hard drive using Acronis. Exactly what steps did you take to do that? I'll print them and store them in my Acronis Installation CD.

Working beautifully for many months, and then a few
weeks ago this began happening:
Perhaps 2-3 times a week, and with no consistency of circumstances, a blue screen will appear. It might happen while working or when returning from hibernate. There's a countdown as memory is stored, and then a freeze. The only way to recover is to do a hard OFF (5 seconds on the power switch) and restart. When it first happened, I had not installed or changed anything, so I was comfortable doing a restore. It happened again.
It's confusing because the stated cause is inconsistent. I've checked to ensure that all drivers are updated and nothing that's contraVistarian is installed. What analytical steps can I undertake to discover what's causing this, and then to help me make the necessary changes?

View 6 Replies View RelatedProblem Blue Screen. No new hardware or software installed recently, last Windows vista update was on 01/15. When I start first, PC passes user registration (boots fine) and
does the normal stuff like loading software and starting the wireless internet connection via Netgear, opening some windows/programms I will close. All normal, but than comes a Blue Screen and very fast shut down of system with restart. Hardly can read the message...Look like Blue Screen appears when to much action is going on like opening of IE and Outlook... or open to many windows... or some bad programm/hardware is booting. But when I restart, restart gives a different blue screens and trouble is much earlier or directly after registering to the system.
But all starting or booting turn slower, real slow now. Start in --safe mode with net working-- the PC works, but the PC can't handle heavy workloads, is really slow in action. I cannot open --My pictures-- to see all picture files displyed on screen (2.7 GB) (the process trying to access the files in safe mode is real slow) and when I attempt to transfer the file to a USB stick, the computer is stopping in middle of action (after 50% transfer)..........
I just finished setting up my Media Center on Vista Home Premium, got all the latest drivers and SP1 and updates. DVD playback is giving me some trouble though, and I've resorted to playing them on my 4-5 year old DVD player instead, which is just plain stupid when I have this whole machine set up with Vista Media Center. I've experienced several problems:
1) No sound.
I have the sound card stereo cable going into the back of the TV, it's possible that VMC isn't downsampling the 5.1 audio to stereo and that it's outputting it over a different port.
2) Drive noise
VMC spins up the drive, as if it's buffering up, then slows it down, then spins it up again, then slows down. It's really annoying as you can imagine. Is there a way to make it read the DVD video disc at a constant, lower speed? Say 2x or 4x ?
3) Jittery image
When played on a standalone player the DVD is fine. However on Vista Media Center it's a bit "jumpy". You can see this quite clearly for example on the credits, text appears (for example film title) and it's jittery, moving up and down a tiny bit. On the standalone player its perfectly stable.
4) Image colors
There's a warning text at the start of the DVD, the general copyright thing. The background is blue on a standalone player, but when played through VMC it's pink?! Definitely too much red on the output.
I've been doing a clean install of Vista x64 for about a week and have been getting many random blue screens of deaths yesterday I did another clean install and only had about 4 drivers or so installed and I got a BSOD but no dump file was created for some reason so I kept installing more drivers and it work for about 4 hours till it crahsed again this time it gave me a dump file so here are the results.......
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've had voltage issues causing my computer to freeze or reboot during games and dvds. Fixed that and the computer was fine after memtest showing no problems. That was late Dec.
A few days ago, the computer would go to a blue screen saying it's dumping physical memory and then automatically reboots. Thinking my harddisk might be collapsing on me (I have a seagate barracuda 7200.11 500Gb HD with the SD15 firmware, the infamous crash friendly HD), I flash the HD with the SD1A firmware from seagate, then it was fine. 2days later, Catalyst started to cause problems by not responding, so I formated the drive and reinstalled vista ultimate, along with Catalyst, drivers from Mobo manufacturer ASUS, plus a couple of other softwares. That was yesterday, and now I'm getting the same blue screen back, or the computer just freezes.

View 5 Replies View RelatedAs I am entering info my computer just randomly opens a new blank browser page, or the screen image shrinks, or the font changes in an email. Doesn't happen all the time. The "T" key seems to be the problem because it quits functioning until I click on the point where I was typing. This is a real problem since T is a commonly used letter and it is part of my name so it comes up in login situations. There might be other letters involved but this one is the most noticeable. Is it a sticky key problem?

My one guess is its something to do with the display driver maybe because that has been stuffing up a bit of late, in the way of the screen going black for a couple of seconds then recovering.
My "ulstata.sys" driver got corrupted and had to completely rebuild the boot options. On doing that I am now back to the original SP2 Boot Screen and am not able to change it back to my custom image via TuneUp Utilities. I'm kind of guessing one of the "winload.exe.mui" file isn't allowing the change.
"C:WindowsSystem32Booten-US" has only "winresume.exe.mui" `whereas
"C:WindowsSystem32en-US" has both?
I've tried copying the loadfile in System32/en-US but it's not letting me paste in the System32/Boot/en-US due to some folder protectioin. although i've taken full control. Tuneup Utilities is ssaying it's applied the boot screen but vista is still loading the SP2 boot screen.
I've been trying for weeks to get Sims 2 running. Everything goes fine till its half way loaded on the splash screen, then it crashes. I think it's a problem with my graphics card, has anyone got the same card [Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family] and can run the Sims 2?

**Uninstalled SP1 twice
**Installed Office 2007 twice
**Run Office diagnostics that tells me to repair Office
**Ensured all windows patches are current
**Ensurred all MS Office 2007 patches/upgrades installed
**Talked really nice to it.
I've had pretty good luck with vista so far but every so often it will blue screen on me and I cant figure out why. The scenario is
1. System startup from power off condition
2. System boots to login screen
3. Blue screen referencing processor timing or something
I have not overclocked or anything everything is vanilla. I would also note that I run hardware diagnostics utilities and it seems fine. Also, I never get the message about abnormal system termination like ususal. How can I get a clue as to what is going on here. So far it seems like the error is bogus, I can log in and the machine will run for days with no problem.
