Outlook 2007 Recovery By Image Using Acronis
Aug 24, 2009
I am having to rebuild my computer (long story). On the old system I have a backup image using Acronis but when I restore using the backup image and boot I get a BSOD. I was able to restore the image to an external drive and I can connect to my laptop via USB/eSATA and see everything on the drive. The new system is up and running, and I can access what used to be my old 'C' drive. Here's the situation that I need help with: I was (and will be) using Office Outlook 2007 as my email client. I've been able to recover most of my outlook stuff, what I have not been able to recover is
My email accounts - I had about 10 and with a bit of pain I can recover them. My rules - I had about 200 and only with a LOT of pain and time will I be able to recovery them. Any advice (instructions at the dummy level would be welcome) as to how I can recover my email accounts and rules (especially my rules).

I have searched for guidence but to no avail.
Vista has failed and I have only "command prompt (DOS) and a 4 gig memory stick to recover data. I can not see the directory in dos that I believe the data is stored - c:usersgibbonzappxx*.pst.Using Vista Business, with a Dell Inspiron. Outlook 2007 only as a email and contacts manager (as part of Office 2007)
I am trying to rebuild the boot loader but not having any luck and would really like to recover emails and contacts.
I have transfered Documents, photos and spreadsheets with no issues.

I am having to rebuild my computer. On the old system, I was running Vista Home Premium. Now, I am using Vista Ultimate. As everything came crashing down on my old system, I was unable to make backups of everything. However, there is a bright side...the new system is up and running, and I can access what used to be my old 'C' drive. Here's the situation that I need help with: I was (and will be) using Office Outlook 2007 as my email client. I am trying to figure out how to recover the emails that I had on the old system. As I did not get to make a backup before the crash.

I have purchased a boxed Acronis True Image Home 2009. Installed it on my fairly new PC running on Vista (with all the updates) Home Premium and registered and updated the software with Acronis. I have immersed myself in the Acronis User Manual until I was ready to go. I used the True Image wizard to create a bootable rescue disc. Placed the disc in my PC's combo DVD/CD Rom/RW drive. There is the usual whirring noise and the Windows Explorer pane opens up showing a restore manager folder containing 7 files (no .exe file) then more 'gravel' noise and after waiting for ten minutes absolute silence and nothing more happened. Assumtion: the disc is not bootable.
I made several more rescue discs and tried to run them several ways including starting up the PC with the disc in the drive. That opens up Windows in the usual way but no disc boot up! Acronis web support have sent me a link to download an ISO file of the True Image software which I have downloaded and burnt the ISO image file to CD. But this still will not boot up. Not sure where to go from here? This is the brand-leader in backup/cloning software and a near-new PC. Is there something I have overlooked? Have I got to go 'messing' with my PC's BIOS - not keen on that??

My saga with Acromis True Image continues. I have successfully installed it on my fairly new Vista PC and found a way of creating and using a rescue disc by adjusting the bootup sequence of the drives. I now find that each time I try to do a backup to my Buffalo external HDD - reformatted to NTFS - I get the error message "Failed to execute the task - Error #1364 - A specified authentication package is unknown (0xFFF0)"
Acronis web support say I should edit the registry as a registry entry is missing in the following registry subkey: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlLsa. This surprised me as my PC is not on a network. This is covered in You may not be able to connect to a remote server, the Workstation service may stop, and you may receive an "Error 1364" error message in Windows Server 2003 or in Windows Small Business Server 2003........

I have a desktop that I upgraded from XP Pro to Vista Ultimate and a laptop running on Windows XP Pro. I recently upgraded both devices from Office 2003 to Office 2007. Before I upgraded the desktop to Vista, I copy the Outlook.pst back and forth the two machines to synchronize my e-mail. Now that the desktop is running on Vista and the laptop still running XP Pro, can I do the same thing to synchronize my e-mail or is there a better solution in synchronizing the pst files.

I have a Dell Laptop with Windows Vista Ultimate (32 Bit OS) and I have Office 2007 Enterpris edition installed. I had my work email (Exchange Server) configured within my outlook and it worked fine until lastweek. It just stopped working and I thought I'll try and reset outlook and try and re-configure but then everything went really wrong.
I deleted all the Pst and ost files, deleted the old profile and created a new one.I configured a new profile and configured the exchange server settings and tried to start outlook but now it only gives me an error saying .... "cannot open default email folder. you must connect to microsoft exchange with current profile before you can synchronize with your offline folder file".. (see the screenshots)................

I bought a new computer running Vista Home Prem x64 SP1 and installed Outlook 2007. My older computer (XP x32 SP2) has Outlook 2003. Both computers are connected in a home network. All my emails and address book are in Outlook 2003 outlook.pst file. How do I bring that outlook.pst (2003) into Outlook 2007, so that I could have all my emails and address book in Outlook 2007? Right now in my Outlook 2007 my address book is practically blank.

I am wondering if you need to re-install Windows after a hard drive failure before you use a "ghost" image. I used Macrium Reflect to create it.
http://www.macrium.com/blog/2008/03/...umReflect.aspx
Do you install Windows on the new drive or just install the "ghost" image of the drive before it failed?

I saw a post on here about Outlook 2007 causing WordPerfect X3 to crash. I had the same problem with WP X3 and Vista Business 32 bit. I upgraded to WP X4 and the problem continued. I did a clean install of Vista Business x64 and all programs. The problem continues. If I read e-mail in Outlook, WP becomes unstable and crashes if I open a new blank document or close the last open document.

If I set up MS Outlook 2007-Follow the setup wizard and select my username and enter in my case with the gmail email address and type in the password twice as requested. Does the mails from the inbox, outbox and deleted items of my gmail get downloaded to my Hard Drive of computer running Outlook 2007? Does that mean I will have two copies of every thing one in the GMails Browser and another in my Hard Drive?

I have been using Microsoft Outlook 2007 for about two weeks everything was working fine. I have not change the way I used this program. I have used Microsoft Outlook 2002 for a few years so I had no real problems until recently. I save many of the e-mails I receive in either text or HTML format with no problem. When I save an e-mail now in
either text or HTML now, a folder is automatically created with the same name I have created the e-mail I have created. The e-mail which I save is not saved in the folder which automatically appears. What is in the folder are three files: colorschememapping, filelist, and themedata. If after I save the file then go back and delete the folder with the same name as the file, both the folder and the e-mail which I saved are
deleted. I do not know what is going on. Now my computer is getting filled up with e-mail messages I want to keep and folders that I really do not want. Does anyone have a solution to this problem? I am aboutready to pull my hair out.

I am using Windows 7 and every time I try to open Outlook 2007 (and sometimes some of the other office programs), it will only open up half way? Inasmuch as it opens to the full width from side to side but I always have to resize it for the height as in top to bottom. This has happened with a few programs but some of these seem to have sorted themselves out but most definately not Office 2007! It's really weird and I am getting fed up with having to keep opening the program up manually, to get it showing fully on the monitor. I don't like it opened maximised (as in no edges to the opened program) as I like it to show the edges, so that the transparency on the edges and rounded corners show when fully opened. It may be a bug but being a bit of a 'divvy' with things like this

I have 2 accounts on my laptop running Vista Home Premium and Office 2007. One for me and one for my wife. Currently she can't see any email received using my account. The goal is to see all email messages both for her and me. Data files were stored in different locations C:Users<me>...Outlook.pst and C:Users<wife>...Outlook.pst. Well we couldn't see inbox of each other while we are sharing the same email address. I wanted to add her data file to my Personal Folders and my data file to her respectively. When I try to add the data file I've got the error: "The file C:Users<wife>...Outlook .pst cannot be opened". I check that I do have Full permissions for this file.

I have a problem within Outlook 2007 when ever I try and search through my emails. Whenever I perform a search of any of my mail folders, I get no results and a message saying 'Search results may be incomplete because items are still being indexed. Click here for more details'. When I click for more details, I receive a message saying 'Outlook is currently indexing your items'. And telling me that 7695 items are reminaing in personal folders, and 17987 items are remaining across all open mailboxes. The problem is that this number never goes down, and has been like this ever since I started using the program. Could it be that the indexing is stuck
somehow?

When trying to send my POP3 email from Outlook 2007 from hotels using my new laptop running Vista Ultimate and Office 2007, I always get errors sending messages, and have to get the outgoing mail server info from the hotel. I never had to do this when I was using XP Pro and Office 2003. Is there a setting that can be changed so I do not have to go through this all the time?

My default calendar view is week. When I get a meeting request, there's a handy 'view in calendar' button. This opens my calendar in a new window in day view BUT when i view my calendar again it has now changed to the day view too. Opening a meeting request's 'view in calendar' window changes my calendar default from week to day. I can live with the meeting request opening in day mode but can anyone tell me how to prevent it from changing my default calendar view?

I have a question about Outlook 2007 & hotmail. I am running Vista 32 bit Ultimate on my desktop & XP on my laptop. On the desktop when I set up a new account in Oulook 2007 from hotmail, all my folders in the hotmail account come into Outlook but they are empty. My inbox, sent and delete folders do work but all the ones I created in hotmail are empty. When I log into hotmail via the internet they are there and have archived emails in them. On my XP laptop all of the folders are there & have emails but I use Outlook 2003. One more piece of input I also have a @msn.com account & all the folders created in that one come over to Outlook 2007 and have emails in them.
