whenever i enter a game in Cs : Source it lets me stay in for about 1 min then my monitor freezes and crashes to blue screen (error nvlddmkm.sys) or comp stays frozen.. i have to restart the hard way.

So I decided to: update all my drivers that I could think to update (used device manager to do so). I cleaned my computers inside. Updates my virus scanner - am protected. (Avast) cleaned my registery (I used a downloaded registry cleaner from a computer magazine website, they reviewed it, and i tried it) Disk Defrag used. Finally found some info when my computer crashed. Went online to find information and got some software that helped me get more info about my problems. (see attachments)....

I recently upgraded my computer, and did a clean install of Vista 64. But since esterday i'm getting lots of crashes resulting in a blue screen. Here is the window i get when i get back to vista :

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have used true image a number of times & have had good results.I recently tried backing up& had 2 blue screen crashes.I had installed virtual pc just before this and was wondering if true image can't backup a hdd with virtual pc installed or is it Vista ?If it is because of vpc how am I going to backup my hdd without installing vpc ?
I recently used a VISTA compatible utility (TWEAK VI) to sort and clean my registry. I then added several new applications, including Office 2007. My system has now become very unstable and often freezes, does a blue screen data dump, or just shuts down with no explanation. I am to far removed from the registry clean to reach a restore point for it, so I am hoping there is a repair option on the VISTA install disk, like the XP disk has. So far the only option I find is to reinstall the whole program.

Working beautifully for many months, and then a few
weeks ago this began happening:
Perhaps 2-3 times a week, and with no consistency of circumstances, a blue screen will appear. It might happen while working or when returning from hibernate. There's a countdown as memory is stored, and then a freeze. The only way to recover is to do a hard OFF (5 seconds on the power switch) and restart. When it first happened, I had not installed or changed anything, so I was comfortable doing a restore. It happened again.
It's confusing because the stated cause is inconsistent. I've checked to ensure that all drivers are updated and nothing that's contraVistarian is installed. What analytical steps can I undertake to discover what's causing this, and then to help me make the necessary changes?

View 6 Replies View RelatedProblem Blue Screen. No new hardware or software installed recently, last Windows vista update was on 01/15. When I start first, PC passes user registration (boots fine) and
does the normal stuff like loading software and starting the wireless internet connection via Netgear, opening some windows/programms I will close. All normal, but than comes a Blue Screen and very fast shut down of system with restart. Hardly can read the message...Look like Blue Screen appears when to much action is going on like opening of IE and Outlook... or open to many windows... or some bad programm/hardware is booting. But when I restart, restart gives a different blue screens and trouble is much earlier or directly after registering to the system.
But all starting or booting turn slower, real slow now. Start in --safe mode with net working-- the PC works, but the PC can't handle heavy workloads, is really slow in action. I cannot open --My pictures-- to see all picture files displyed on screen (2.7 GB) (the process trying to access the files in safe mode is real slow) and when I attempt to transfer the file to a USB stick, the computer is stopping in middle of action (after 50% transfer)..........
Alright short story I was just sitting here then all of a sudden my monitor just shot half the screen blue one side was normal the other half was blue and I was so scared that my color tube in my tv was shot, but oddly Nvidia panel was still natural color so then I changed the refresh rate from 60 to 59 hertz and the screen went back to its normal state. Now do remember I am using my 27" tv as my monitor and I am using a HDMI to DVI cable. All I want to know is what caused this why did it do this and if my Tv is in danger of being fried at all?
View 9 Replies View RelatedI've been doing a clean install of Vista x64 for about a week and have been getting many random blue screens of deaths yesterday I did another clean install and only had about 4 drivers or so installed and I got a BSOD but no dump file was created for some reason so I kept installing more drivers and it work for about 4 hours till it crahsed again this time it gave me a dump file so here are the results.......

My computer freeze for 2-5 second, next is black screen for 2seconds(as monitor is shuted down) and next is black screen while i don't stop the game. View 9 Replies View RelatedI've had voltage issues causing my computer to freeze or reboot during games and dvds. Fixed that and the computer was fine after memtest showing no problems. That was late Dec.
A few days ago, the computer would go to a blue screen saying it's dumping physical memory and then automatically reboots. Thinking my harddisk might be collapsing on me (I have a seagate barracuda 7200.11 500Gb HD with the SD15 firmware, the infamous crash friendly HD), I flash the HD with the SD1A firmware from seagate, then it was fine. 2days later, Catalyst started to cause problems by not responding, so I formated the drive and reinstalled vista ultimate, along with Catalyst, drivers from Mobo manufacturer ASUS, plus a couple of other softwares. That was yesterday, and now I'm getting the same blue screen back, or the computer just freezes.
I commonly get a blue screen. So how do I solve this problem 2ndly, whenever I play music on my WMP, the computer may just hang on me, giving all but zzzz buzzes and the whole screen shows lines.

My one guess is its something to do with the display driver maybe because that has been stuffing up a bit of late, in the way of the screen going black for a couple of seconds then recovering.
I've been trying for weeks to get Sims 2 running. Everything goes fine till its half way loaded on the splash screen, then it crashes. I think it's a problem with my graphics card, has anyone got the same card [Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family] and can run the Sims 2?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a EnVision G218a1 22" widescreen, only had it a year, all of a sudden the screen went black so i rebooted, the system info screen showed up but only for 2 seconds then went black, the system continued to load but black screen. I hooked up another monitor and everything works fine, the EnVision G218a1 is under warranty, should i return it or is there a solution for this?

I have finally found out why my monitor/Screen kept blacking-out during use, it was a simple mistake that could be made by any-one and I would like to share this small problem with those that have had the samw problem. The problem was I wasn't down-loading updates of Windows Vista regularly and this was causing the black-outs. If any one else has been in this position you may keep quite and allow other not so smart people, like myself suffer frustration and anxiety to the fullest. I would like to hear from any one else that has been in this situation.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI’m running Vista x64 with a 24” wide screen HD monitor with 1920x1200 native resolution. (Check my System Specs for all my hardware.) However, I can only get full screen with 1280x720. Any higher and my screen shifts to the left and I lose about 1/3 to ½ of my available viewing area. Anything on the left side of my task bar is gone, including the Windows (start) button. If I go to my native 1920x1200 res the text is so small it’s virtually unreadable (along, again, with losing a third of my viewing area). What’s the purpose of having this monitor if I can’t get it to display the full screen with readable text? I’m guessing I must be doing something wrong.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEver since I switched to Windows Vista Enterprise Edition 32 Bit I have been having some problems with my dual-monitor set up. My computer is a Fujitsu Tablet PC and is about 2 years old, and my external monitor is a Samsung SyncMaster941BW. For some reason once I go and use the intel display options and set up the extended desktop everything appears to be fine. However when the Windows Vista security screen pops up asking for you permission for a specified action it gets rid of my extended desktop and just kicks everything back to only my laptops display. This also happens when restarting the computer and doing "Ctrl + alt + delete" to open the task manager. It is extremely frustrating and I was wondering if anyone else had this problem? I am not sure if it is just a problem with vista or if I need a new driver since updating from xp, even though my computer says it is the latest driver for the monitor.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI've had pretty good luck with vista so far but every so often it will blue screen on me and I cant figure out why. The scenario is
1. System startup from power off condition
2. System boots to login screen
3. Blue screen referencing processor timing or something
I have not overclocked or anything everything is vanilla. I would also note that I run hardware diagnostics utilities and it seems fine. Also, I never get the message about abnormal system termination like ususal. How can I get a clue as to what is going on here. So far it seems like the error is bogus, I can log in and the machine will run for days with no problem.
I've had some trouble with my computer and I'm not sure if it's ram problems or graphics or anything. I've had the following problems: Vertical very thin pixel lines that show up random places nvlddmkm has stopped responding and recovered. And within the last 2 days it's done it 3 times, I'm having my screen go blank with random colors. Green, White, and then the last is black that goes away and comes back like the monitor is trying to reset itself. Always black tho. I have to restart in order to get it to reboot. So I'm thinking I have bad ram, my monitor is a Westinghouse 17" Flat panel I got in 2005. My graphics card (8800GT) is about 11 months old.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently got a new computer running Windows Vista and everything is working great except the monitor won't turn off automatically like it should. My Screen Saver starts fine after 3 minutes of inactivity - I'm using the built-in My Pictures Slideshow that shows personal pictures & video clips. But the monitor never turns off even though I have it configured to auto-power off after 30 minutes of inactivity - it just stays
on all day running my screen saver. If I change the screen saver to a different one the monitor turns off after 30 minutes like it should. The problem seems limited to the My Pictures Slideshow screen saver. This is troubling because this same configuration worked fine with Windows XP (the only difference was that XP's My Pictures Slideshow did not include videos - it only showed pictures). Is this just a bug in Vista or is there something I can do to resolve the problem?
Can anyone explain why Windows periodically freezes when the screen saver is running? At first I thought it was due to the Windows Live Photo Gallery. After running for several hours (overnight, for e.g.), it would freeze on one picture. Usually moving the mouse would eventually close the screen saver and I'd return to the desktop.
I then changed to a regular screen saver, Mystify. Usually this isn't a problem, but today when I moved the mouse, the screen saver froze. I couldn't soft boot, actually had to shut down manually. This is the second time this has happened.
I've checked whether I'm using the latest video driver using device manager, and it says everything is up to date. I'm using NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430, driver version 7.15.11.7530. Could there be a device conflict? How would I be able to tell?
I recently built a computer with a SATA hdd and a IDE disk drive. I had also bought vista ultimate 64 bit. I cannot install vista. the screen just freezes, about 20-50% through the expanding files part. when I boot the hdd up, I get the missing bootmgr thing, several times. I tried the tip by lifehacker to use the repair settings thing. I cannot seem to install vista. I even tried to make a copy of the dvd from the comp I am typing with now.
