when my computer goes into sleep mode, it wont come back...i have to turn off the computer& restart it. it says a driver is missing NIVIDA GeForce. I guess I dont know what that is or where to find it to either uninstall it or update it...i cant find it in the device manager...not when i type it in to search for it...i guess im stumped as to what to do..

Then the blue screen appeard with this error: 0x0000007BC , 0x84C5DBA0, 0x0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 "Run CHKDSK /F and check for Hard Drive Corruption and then restart your computer"
Basically it's telling me the DRIVE is corruptet! Well, I plugged that SATA 2 HDD into my other computer (windows xp), detected it correctly and actually formated the drive and reinstalled XP on it without any types of problem. Does it still mean - SATA 2 is corrupted or broken!? How about the RAM then ... indeed, I did run the MemTest for 7 times and no errors were found. So the RAM are ok in this case, or am I wrong?! Maybe it's the PSU... ermmm no that cannot be 'cos the computer never shuts down, if I leave it run for (e.g 5 hours) and even if it's comes to "overheating" that cannot be the case eather, as its *again" never shuts down when you leave it run on the power.........
I am embarrassed to ask it. Previously I had WindowsXP on my laptop - to turn it off you went to Start, Turn Off Computer. This laptop is using Vista, and I cannot find anything comparable. Last night I turned it off using the off-on button, so got the Windows did not shut off properly message when I turned it on; and I have a "thing" about leaving my computer on overnight. Also, is there a way of hiding all the command bars to "hide" like you can with the taskbar on the bottom?

I have tried loading XP again and Vista with the same message. Attempting to access the CD unsuccessful.
I have tried disconnecting the LG drive and using the Sony, same error message. LG has no drivers on site stated they are embedded in Vista...
i just install a modified form of vista call nvidia revolution, after i change the language locate in my regional setting to chinese simplified and restart window, it come out that my window cant start and some file is missing or corrupt, the file is something call nsl file......i cant even start in safe mode and do the repair with vista recovery tool.

I am using the Administrator account. The prior IT guy left without any documentation. We have to use the [shutdown.exe -s -t 15 –f] command which works fine. But would like the standard GUI functions back. Any ideas where to look or how to bring back to resolve this.

I've desided to order the recovery discs for my computer to do a full system recovery, hoping that will fix it. View 9 Replies View RelatedAbout a month ago, my laptop (with vista as OS) started acting up, giving me error messages such as ?windowssystem32ootwinload.exe missing or corrupt? as well as ?windowssystem32stsem missing?. I tried everything I could in vain, and I decided to go ahead and format my hard drive, through another computer using an enclosure kit since I couldn?t even get into safe mode or any other mode without getting the error screen right away. I seemed that the problem was getting worst as I restarted my computer.
As I mentioned above, I formatted my disc, thus lost all data, hoping to be able to install a clean version of VISTA. I reinstall my hard drive in the laptop, and just to make a quick test, I started the computer without the VISTA DVD in and I got the error ?NTLDR is missing Press CTRL+Alt+Del to restart?, and wondering what that was about, I looked it up on the internet, and most people seemed to say that error message was a typical windows XP type of error. But I never had XP on.......
my problem is that suddenly some of the entries disappeared from the menu that comes up in the start menu, I have googled to see it there is a solution and it was not, tried system restore, and I even replaced patched uxtheme (and other) file(s) to the originals. View 6 Replies View RelatedHP customer service hasn't been able too in 5 attempts. Here's my problem: I'm running Vista Home Premium on an HP Pavillion dv9000 laptop. I was prompted to download the latest updates a few days ago and one of the updates was an option upgrade to Nvidia Display. Once I downloaded these updates, my computer hasn't been the same. My display is very fuzzy and hard to read, not to mention my icons are much much larger. I called HP, whom first told me to just do a system restore to the prior date. I did this and my computer indeed worked fine. For one day. At this point, all of the troubles started again when I started my computer up.
I again called HP, who instructed me to uninstall the nvidia driver and reinstall. I did this, twice...to no avail. It was at that point when I was in my device manager under "Display Adapters" that there is a yellow warning icon?? signaling trouble on the Nvidia GeForce GO 6150 that is installed. I click on this and the following message occurs: "This device cannot find enough free resources that it can use. (Code 12)".
Would over clocking it when your turn on the computer and then before you turn off your computer you put it back to factory settings screw it up???? or what The reason i ask is because when i turn off my computer it gives me the BSOD then the card goes back to factory settings but i can play the OC version of the card

I have got Avast (could not go with AVG as its such a chore to shut the processes down) SpywareBlaster Spybot Search and Destroy Windows Defender (although I am not sure if this is any good, read somewhere that this was the program responsible for Nvidia Card users getting the famous "....... driver has stopped responding" error, its currently enabled on my system, but I am yet to have a long playing session, so I can't say if this error still comes up with or without Windows Defender.
Come to that, the driver error may not have anything to do with the Windows Defender.......I tend to believe everything I read so maybe someone more wise to this can say whether this is true or not. But my main question is, do I have enough to protect my Computer?
I have Window Vista Home Premium SP 1 64-bit operating system IE 7 I have a Canon Pixma MP500 that was purchased in 2006, and it will not download on my computer. I went to canon website and downloaded the driver and then put in the old CD and did what it said and it said something like this is not for 64-bit OS. Now I am not a computer wizard so I have a lot to learn.

I have a new Asus Laptop with Vista. Windows Mail has never worked right. After startup it only works for a period of time. (Anywhere from 5 minutes to 1 hour) It then just shows the following error messages. It also will not send an email until I restart my computer. It always works after a startup. I have Zone Alarm, but it acted this way before I loaded it. Is there a setting that should be changed? My internet connection is a Sprint Mifi. This is quite frustrating. I tried to restart my computer and it is stuck on shutting down. It did this before and I hardbooted and had to wait over an hour for the computer to come back on. It was not reading my external drive so I hit restart and it is just sitting here doing nothing. I don't like hard booting but don't know how to get out of this. I obviously can't look at my event as I am stuck in shutting down right now. I have a gateway GT5628 quad core. The only stupid thing I did today was go into msconfig and click on tools, disable UAC and launch. It said reboot. My challenges began. do I hard boot or what here?
It shut down totally and then I turned it back on and now the screen is black. It started up but has gone black. don't know if it is working to start or not. It is 26 minutes since I wrote this and my computer is still trying to boot up. It is going through a correct the error routine. I don't know what has changed. I did not upgrade. Home Premium was installed on my computer. I have tons of room. It does not read my external hard drive on last boot up going through the same stuff here. Gateway said just wait it may take an hour. Everytime I boot? What is with that. I can't get into my passport for Microsoft from this computer on the network. This is a fiasco.
We tried to restart the computer manually, but to no avail. Vista loaded Windows, but before prompting me with a login screen, it dumbed again. We then tried to boot it in safe mode. Everything works fine there, so we tried to reboot normally again. Another dumb. We tried yet again, after removing the disc. Nothing. Since then we've tried system recovery to set it back a few days, we've tried to let it repair itself, we've tried to unplug everything (everything - mouse, keyboard, sound - everything but the monitor). The monitor, by the way, have some weird lines running down the screen, which notably aren't there when booting in safe mode.

whenever I put the computer to sleep mode and move the mouse while it's getting into sleep mode, it'll either restart or kill the computer. When it kills the computer, the fans still run but the lights on the front go out. There is also no picture on the monitor. To turn off the computer, I have to force a shutdown by holding the power button for around 4 seconds. Then, when I try to turn on the computer again, the fans turn on, the hard drive runs, but still no lights on the front of the case nor picutre on the screen. I fixed it by clearing the RTC RAM on the motherboard. After doing that, the computer would boot up, but if I did sleep mode and moved the mouse, then the computer would die again, and I'd have to clear the RTC RAM again. I'm wondering why this happens with sleep mode. I use Vista Home Premium 64-bit. Is there a solution to this problem or does anyone else have this problem?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have a Dell Inspiron 1521 laptop that this past week decided to do a Windows update and afterwards was running at 100% cpu and really slow. After everything I did and everything I knew to do I decided to clean the HD and re-install the OS. I partitioned the HD and tried to install Vista. It got all the way thru to the point it was "suppose" to reboot and ask for my name and comp info and just shut down. When I turned it back on a window popped up saying something to the effect of "windows restared unexpectedly or had an unexpected error please select ok to restart your computer and installation of Windows" so then I have to re-install all over again and it failed again and again. I ran the pre-boot system assessment and found out my HD crashed. I installed a new HD and ran the pre-boot assessment again and everything checks out but I'm still getting the box to pop up cause it keeps turning itself off at the same point as I mentioned above. I can't/ don't know how to get into DOS so I can check the motherboard but I'm getting ready to throw this thing up against the wall.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI can't figure out how to turn the computer off using only the key board. In previous windows, it was Windows/U/S , or maybe Windows/U/U. With Vista, I seem to have to use the mouse, or the infernal laptop touch pad, to get to, then click on, an arrow which displays a list, which requires the use of the touch pad again, because the list has no accelerator keys. 4 steps, each more complicated than one letter, where one keyboard letter used to do.
Also, I don't have them side by side, but it seems that when playing Solitaire, it took longer to turn over each set of 3 cards, than it did for me on WinXP or Win98, and I'm sure the Vista CPU is faster than the others I've used. (It's a Toshiba Satellite laptop, which came with Vista installed, but I don't know the speed.
All drivers are up to date.. Nothing in the event viewer to indicate a problem. If I try to burn to the DVD or read from it, my machine shuts off. Not reset, full shut down. No viruses, no spyware/malware. I'm behind a NAT firewall with SPK and use the Windows Firewall and Avast so I'm pretty sure it's not something evil that has gotten on my machine. Googling doesn't reveal anything. Has anyone seen anything similar..Dell or not? I don't mind not having the DVD for burning because I have other machines that I can burn from, but if I can't read from the DVD drive without the machine shutting down, I may as well have a netbook.

Anyway, When I open IE my homepage opens fine... I can go to different pages regularly for awhile... Then... I type in a website and BOOM, It wont load the page... yahoo google doesn't matter... Wont load it. Ive reset to default settings and that doesn't help... Ive deleted all my cookies and run AVG and its not finding anything. I uninstalled AVG now because if I turn on my computer it freezes it up. Ill post a copy of my HijackTHis log and maybe some of you can help me fix the problem. Also, When I go to say Google or any search engine and type in something, it searches for it... then when I click on a link that I was looking for...
