NTLDR Is Missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del To Restart

Feb 4, 2010

My problem is when I boot up my computer all I get is this "NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". I can still get into bios, but that's it. I've desided to order the recovery discs for my computer to do a full system recovery, hoping that will fix it. My question is though, will the discs fix this "NTLDR is missing" thing, or will I have to fix it some other way?

NTLDR Is Missing Press CTRL+Alt+Del To Restart?

Oct 24, 2009

About a month ago, my laptop (with vista as OS) started acting up, giving me error messages such as ?windowssystem32ootwinload.exe missing or corrupt? as well as ?windowssystem32stsem missing?. I tried everything I could in vain, and I decided to go ahead and format my hard drive, through another computer using an enclosure kit since I couldn?t even get into safe mode or any other mode without getting the error screen right away. I seemed that the problem was getting worst as I restarted my computer.

As I mentioned above, I formatted my disc, thus lost all data, hoping to be able to install a clean version of VISTA. I reinstall my hard drive in the laptop, and just to make a quick test, I started the computer without the VISTA DVD in and I got the error ?NTLDR is missing Press CTRL+Alt+Del to restart?, and wondering what that was about, I looked it up on the internet, and most people seemed to say that error message was a typical windows XP type of error. But I never had XP on.......

'remove Media And Press Any Key To Restart'

Apr 28, 2010

Here's the deal. I've been working on this laptop for a client for 3 days now, and I swear I've read every forum out there, so I apologize in advance for any headaches I may cause here. As the title says, it's an Acer 6930 with Vista Home Premium. When I boot to normal mode, it gets to the 'Welcome' screen, and the little spinning circle just sits and spins. The client said they actually let it sit like that for 2 days and it still did nothing. Boot to safe mode - BSOD, generally with 'Page Fault in Non Paged Area', but sometimes others as well. (Sorry I did not jot any of them down).

Boot to BartPE thumb drive - 'remove media and press any key to restart' Boot into 'repair your computer' - Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically. "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically. If you have recently attached a device to this computer, such as a camera or portable music player, remove it and restart your computer. If you continue to see this message, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. Hardware tests pass - memory and hard drive both come up clean.

Client doesn't have the Vista install disk, so I tried to D/L one last night, and apparently I got a bad image, because even in my other machine, the dvd is showing empty, so I am SOL on a Vista disk until I try to D/L another. I've checked out several forums as I said, and followed a lot of their instructions to no avail. I have also had the drive out and hooked to another machine, and ran Malwarebytes on it. The scan literally took 13 hours and found nothing wrong. I have also ran chkdsk and it fixed some bad sectors, but that's about it. SFC /scannow from the recovery area/cmd prompt says there is a repair pending and that a reboot is required, and you can reboot all day long and it will always tell you that. So, grab some aspirin after reading all that, get a coffee, smoke 'em if ya got 'em, and then let me know if you have any suggestions short of a 12 gauge at 20 yards.

Ntldr Missing?

Nov 12, 2009

I bought a used Compaq Presario SR5027CL Desktop. When I turned it on and logged onto the administrator account the screen was black and there were no icons. When I went to the task manager it showed no processes running. My buddy who is way more Tech than I am, told me I need to do a system recovery and ordered the cds for me. After going through the basics of insert this cd then that one the computer restarted itself (normal as far as i know) to a black screen that says NTLDR missing Press Atl+ Ctrl+ Del to restart(not so normal?). What Do I Do Now? Google search took me to several different tech sites which talk about all other OS except Vista.

Black Screen, NTLDR Missing

Jul 31, 2009

When I start up my computer I get a black screen saying NTLDR is missing. Pres CTRL ALT DLT to restart. The only way I can get my computer to start it pressing that command and then pressing F12 at the Acer menu. It goes into the boot menu and I select my hard drive to and then it starts up. I've searched the internet and all the solutions I've found are for if you've upgraded to XP. I haven't ever upgraded this computer to another OS.

Boot Loader, Missing /ntldr File

Apr 30, 2009

installed Windows 7 Build 7100. eh... works great and looks wonderful but i have a few issues here. i can't seem to boot into Windows 7 without setting my Windows 7 Install Files Partition to Active in the Disk Management within Vista. when i restart the Boot Manager comes up and i am able to boot into Windows 7. now if i wanted to boot back into Vista i would have to active the Partition within Windows 7 and restart. all i'm wanting is to be able to boot from Vista and Windows 7 from the Boot Manager without having any errors with Windows 7 while accepting to Boot. i get a missing /ntldr File...

i have downloaded easyBCD and VistaBootPRO. i find both programs are way similar and do the same jobs. with vistaBootPRO it show Windows 7 and the Windows 7 Install Files Partitions have no direct path to any boot file thus here's the problem/issue of not it letting me boot. what do i have config'ed wrong? Image of the entry for Windows 7 and Windows 7 Install Partition under VistaBootPRO i have added both the Windows 7 and Windows 7 Install Files Entries. Here's the Disk Management screen shot in Vista

Missing Restart/Sleep/Shutdown

Mar 6, 2009

Windows Vista Business x64, 8Gb, SP1 We are missing the Restart/Sleep/Shutdown options from the Start menu. All we see is LOG OFF and LOCK. I am using the Administrator account. The prior IT guy left without any documentation. We have to use the [shutdown.exe -s -t 15 –f] command which works fine. But would like the standard GUI functions back. Any ideas where to look or how to bring back to resolve this.

I just did it now and it said "done, now we need to restart" I click restart, it boots up and it STILL says I need to update! Could it be because, this computer ALSO has Microsoft Office 2003? If Office 2003 the problem, or is my luck just crap bad nowadays?

Windows XP used to be on this drive about 2 years ago but when i got a new hard drive back then, i installed windows on that (C) new hard drive (and have since installed Vista on) and removed it from the one which is now D drive. Since this is not the HD which houses my OS, can i delete ntldr? UPDATE: and ntdetect.com as well.

This Copy Of Windows Is Not Genuine: Cannot Exit Unless I Press OK

Dec 15, 2008

Almost every time I turn on my laptop and log into my account a screen comes up saying something along the lines of Thank You For Validating Windows. This takes up the whole screen and I cannot exit unless I press OK. After my desktop is fully loaded a message comes up saying that Windows Aero has stopped working, you may be a victim of counterfeiting. There is then a link which takes me to Genuine Microsoft Software. I then run the validation test and pass. Also sometimes there is a message in white writing in the corner of my desktop which says:

Windows Vista (TM)

Build 6001

This copy of Windows is not genuine. My Vista Ultimate is 100% genuine.

Won't Respond To Ctrl-alt-del

Jun 5, 2007

I really had high hopes for x64 Vista. I put together a new system (specs below) that would be more than capable of handling the OS. I wanted to get the benefit of the full 4 GB of RAM as well as other potential benefits of x64. But it has really been a disappointment. If the computer is on screensaver for too long, it locks up and won't respond to ctrl-alt-del or anything but a hard reboot (no, it's not in hibernate mode). I've had driver problems and I can't even get Rome Total War, my favorite strategy game, to play. Is there any reason why I should keep x64 on?

PC Freezing And Ctrl Alt Del Not Working

Mar 23, 2008

I have Vista on Inspiron 530 desktop. The PC is OK for about an hour then internet gets very slow, finally freezing. When I press ctrl alt del I get message "Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog" and below this "Failure - security options" . The only way out of this is to turn off the electricity to the pc.
Even if I don't get this error, I am seldom able to "shut down" the computer. I sometimes get the "logging off" message which changes to "shutting down" but even after waiting ages, it does not usually shut down so I just have to switch it off.
