Boot Loader, Missing /ntldr File

Apr 30, 2009

installed Windows 7 Build 7100. eh... works great and looks wonderful but i have a few issues here. i can't seem to boot into Windows 7 without setting my Windows 7 Install Files Partition to Active in the Disk Management within Vista. when i restart the Boot Manager comes up and i am able to boot into Windows 7. now if i wanted to boot back into Vista i would have to active the Partition within Windows 7 and restart. all i'm wanting is to be able to boot from Vista and Windows 7 from the Boot Manager without having any errors with Windows 7 while accepting to Boot. i get a missing /ntldr File...

i have downloaded easyBCD and VistaBootPRO. i find both programs are way similar and do the same jobs. with vistaBootPRO it show Windows 7 and the Windows 7 Install Files Partitions have no direct path to any boot file thus here's the problem/issue of not it letting me boot. what do i have config'ed wrong? Image of the entry for Windows 7 and Windows 7 Install Partition under VistaBootPRO i have added both the Windows 7 and Windows 7 Install Files Entries. Here's the Disk Management screen shot in Vista

Ntldr Missing?

Nov 12, 2009

I bought a used Compaq Presario SR5027CL Desktop. When I turned it on and logged onto the administrator account the screen was black and there were no icons. When I went to the task manager it showed no processes running. My buddy who is way more Tech than I am, told me I need to do a system recovery and ordered the cds for me. After going through the basics of insert this cd then that one the computer restarted itself (normal as far as i know) to a black screen that says NTLDR missing Press Atl+ Ctrl+ Del to restart(not so normal?). What Do I Do Now? Google search took me to several different tech sites which talk about all other OS except Vista.

Black Screen, NTLDR Missing

Jul 31, 2009

When I start up my computer I get a black screen saying NTLDR is missing. Pres CTRL ALT DLT to restart. The only way I can get my computer to start it pressing that command and then pressing F12 at the Acer menu. It goes into the boot menu and I select my hard drive to and then it starts up. I've searched the internet and all the solutions I've found are for if you've upgraded to XP. I haven't ever upgraded this computer to another OS.

NTLDR Is Missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del To Restart

Feb 4, 2010

My problem is when I boot up my computer all I get is this "NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". I can still get into bios, but that's it. I've desided to order the recovery discs for my computer to do a full system recovery, hoping that will fix it. My question is though, will the discs fix this "NTLDR is missing" thing, or will I have to fix it some other way?

NTLDR Is Missing Press CTRL+Alt+Del To Restart?

Oct 24, 2009

About a month ago, my laptop (with vista as OS) started acting up, giving me error messages such as ?windowssystem32ootwinload.exe missing or corrupt? as well as ?windowssystem32stsem missing?. I tried everything I could in vain, and I decided to go ahead and format my hard drive, through another computer using an enclosure kit since I couldn?t even get into safe mode or any other mode without getting the error screen right away. I seemed that the problem was getting worst as I restarted my computer.

As I mentioned above, I formatted my disc, thus lost all data, hoping to be able to install a clean version of VISTA. I reinstall my hard drive in the laptop, and just to make a quick test, I started the computer without the VISTA DVD in and I got the error ?NTLDR is missing Press CTRL+Alt+Del to restart?, and wondering what that was about, I looked it up on the internet, and most people seemed to say that error message was a typical windows XP type of error. But I never had XP on.......

"Windows Failed To Load Because A File Is Missing Or Corrupt File: Netio.sys Status: 0xc0000221

Oct 15, 2009

when i turn on my computer, an error message comes saying "Windows failed to load because a file is missing or corrupt File: Netio.sys Status: 0xc0000221" This started when i was clearing my computer of useless programs, and after i deleted Realtime player or Quicktime player, (can't remember which) an error message jumped from the taskbar saying something about Network device driver. After that every time i start the computer, the "Windows failed to load" message pops up. The first half a year, it was solved by pressing enter, to "Choose an operating system to start: Windows Vista" and then to "Windows error recovery (start windows normally, safe mode etc)" and back to "Windows failed to start", repeating it 3-20 times. Then i had a familiar "Unexpected shutdown" during a game, and now, the "Enter spamming technique" doesn't work anymore. All i can access at the moment is Windows memory diagnostic tool, and Bios setup utility. Is there any way to fix this through the setup utility or some other manner?

Resource Loader Cache Doesn't Have Loaded MUI Entry

Dec 9, 2009

"The resource loader cache doesn't have loaded MUI entry". I get this error every time I try to install or update just about anything. I had this same problem a while back and couldn't find any answers so I called DELL and paid for them to fix it because this is my business computer and I needed to install something right away. I just chalked it up to the price I have to pay for my LACK of computer skills. It worked fine for several months but now it's happening again and I don't want to pay for it again. I would like to try the quoted fix but I have no idea what "that user control THINGY" is or how to turn it off. BTW, my OS is Vista 32bit and I have McAfee Security Center installed.

Quote: Originally Posted by John Doty Steve, I turned off that user program control thingy, rebooted with it off, then turned it on again and the error went away. XP 7 Triple Boot: System32hal.dll Is Corrupt Or Missing

Jun 12, 2009

I had a perfectly good dual boot Vista and XP system until I installed Windows 7 RC. I installed Windows 7 RC to a new partition on the Vista (slave drive) with XP installed on the master drive. Vista and Windows 7 booted okay but despite there being 3 options in the boot menu - Earlier Version of Windows (XP), Vista and Windows 7, XP would not (and will not) boot. The error message when selecting XP from the boot menu was that the boot.ini file is invalid; I then get a message saying that the system32hal.dll is corrupt or missing.

I used EasyBCD to restore a backup of the previous Vista boot loader which worked with XP. Windows 7 disappeared from the boot options but I still cannot boot in to XP - I get the same error message (boot.ini and hal.dll). I can boot in to Vista. EasyBCD tells me that there are 2 entries in the Vista bootloader:.....

ICS Across XP And Missing File

May 31, 2008

I have setup a small home network with a desktop running XP SP2, a Shuttle Media Centre running Vista and network printer. Both PC can access the printer and can transfer files across. Using the LAN portion of a D-Link ADSL router for the interconnection but no ADSL connected. The XP PC has a 56k Dial-up which I am trying to share with the Vista machine. I believe I have done the set-up on both sides properly, IP addresses check out, workgroup checks out, have firewalls up on both with Norton Anti-Virus on the XP end, indeed can see a "residential gateway" on the Vista PC. Howver, when I try to connect to the internet from the Vista PC, nothing happens on the XP PC (no dial out). Even when I connect on the XP PC, no internet traffic flowing to the Vista PC. Should this work? What am I missing?

Dual Boot: Could Not Be Loaded As The Application Is Missing Or Corrupt

Jul 29, 2008

wanting to add XP as an addl os using dual boot. I managed to get XP installed along with Vista home basic, but apparently messed up the boot sequence. I can can boot Vista, but not XP ...error window says file: tldr status: 0xc000000f the selected entry could not be loaded as the application is missing or corrupt

I used Vista Boot Pro 3.3 to set the booting. If I set VPR to install legacy booting, it will boot up with XP (no dual boot choice), but not Vista. If I select use legacy boot for selected drive E (XP), it says it is set, but a reboot brings me back to the error above. If I use VBR and set booting for Vista, only Vista boots. I have tried using the XP CD to do a repair install, but it asks for a password, which I never have set. When I hit enter, it keeps asking for password, then times out after the 3rd failed attempt. I only have the Vista backup CD (2 actually) from Dell, not an install Vista CD. My hd is a SATA, and I see that may be a problem by reading other threads here, but I have no floppy drive, only the cd/dvd. If I need another file which may be missing, can someone point me in the right direction ?

Some background:
1. Yes, hidden files are set to show in Folder Options.
2. Did a search for the file (including non-indexed locations) and can't find it.
3. Automatically manage paging file size for all drives is selected. C:[OS], System managed is displayed.

Is it possible that I don't have a pagefile.sys? Could that be why my system is hanging periodically?

Games Missing .exe File

Jun 24, 2008

I recently purchased a laptop from Gateway, and although the Games folder is in the start menu...that folder has the icons for the games, but all the icons are the generic type, and if i click on ANY of them, i get an error message that says: "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." ok, BUT I have only the one account on this computer, and of course its an Admin account. Next, i went to Control Panel/Programs and Feature/Turn Windows features on or off...The box for GAMES is checked, and when i open up to see the subfeatures...ALL games are checked...

Next, i went to C:/program files/microsoft games lo and behold, the folders for all the games are there, and the .exe/.dll/ and subfolder with the .mui is ALL THERE...when i try to dubclick on the .exe directly, i get the same message that i did when clicking the shortcut in Startbar (see above) just what the heck can i do to restore those .exe files back into proper working order? I find it hard to believe that only the games files are corrupted...but is there some solution that you could provide me...i have exhausted my attempts to try and find them via the internet (for download)...but since the files ARE on my system..there "should" be a way to fix this weird problem...

The difference with this build is that the C:User folder has now been relocated to the D:User. It now seems that Vista is not creating the VirtualStore Folder & and respective sub-folders under %LocalAppData% (which is pointing to the correct path on D:). I???m wondering if Virtualization has some known problems if the User Data folders have been relocated, and if theres something I can do.
