Recovery Manager Missing

Mar 27, 2009

I messed up my registry and had to reformat. I went to my recovery partition but could not use it. So I used my recovery dvd but the recovery manager was missing. So I just reinstall vista without any of the crap software that came with it. Now I don't mind not having any of that crap software on my computer but I don't like not having the recovery partition available. I thought that if I used the recovery dvd that would have restored the recovery partition but it didn't. I mean I can see my recovery partition but the emachine recovery console is missing so I can't access it. How do I get my recovery partition back. In other words how do I get my computer back to it's factory settings?

Realtek HD Audio Manager Missing

May 7, 2010

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi1505 laptop with Windows Vista 32 bit home premium installed. When I got the laptop there was an icon in the system tray near to the clock which when you clicked on it opened up a nice looking graphic from which you could alter the realtek sound settings and choose things such as concert speech room etc. It had graphics depicting speakers and other things.

That has now completely disappeared and I cannot seem to get it back or find it anywhere on my computer. It made making adjustments to the sound settings so much easier and I miss not having it. Is there anyway to restore it back so that I can alter my sound settings more easily

File->Run Missing In Task Manager

Nov 25, 2009

I lost my desktop and Task Manager. I could still see my start menu. I followed instructions on the forum to enable my Task Manager again using the admin cmd prompt and running a script ws... vbs something. Now I have Task Manager but when I click File, the only choice I have is Exit Task Manager. I thought that if I kill the process Explorer.exe and restart it, it will restore my desktop icons and the task bar at the bottom of my screen. I killed the process but couldn't restart it. I did a shutdown from Task Manager, but on reboot the problem still exists. I already tried system restore and have run a full norton scan.

Realtek HD Manager Missing And Not Open

I'm using the realtek HD audio, when i plug my headphone or my speaker they work fine but i tried to mess with a microphone and i can't open the realtek manager, i can't even find it anywhere actually. I'm using windows vista home premium 32bit. I tried the new drivers, tried uninstalling and everything else. Is there something that i'm missing here? I can't seem to make the mic work w/o the manager apparently. On the device manager the Realtek high def audio shows this version 6.0.6000.16386. I tried download the 2.31 on the realtek website, to no avail.

Npkcrypt Missing Or Damaged, According To Device Manager

Mar 23, 2008

1.) I don't know if it's important, but "npkcrypt" is apparently either missing or damaged, according to Device Manager..... I imagine there's no file that's missing that can be GOOD, but I figured I'd ask if there's a way to fix that, or it could be relevant to problem number 2.....

2.) Lately when I shut my computer down, 50% of the time if not more often it takes forever to shut down, doesn't shut down, or will but claims that "windows has suffered from an unexpected shutdown"..... even though it shut down because I TOLD IT TO. When it comes back on it says I suffered a BlueScreen, which I've only actually SEEN happen one or two times, but it claims it happens almost every time those other problems occur.

3.) Another thing I would like some aid with, if possible.... there are programs I want to prevent from running when I start my computr, but when I go in to stop them, it won't let me, stating that the scan on them leaves them "unidentified," so I can't make them NOT start along with my PC. Only Microsoft programs are capable of being stopped.... any way around that?

4.) I think the problems with 2 may be related to some downloading done on my part recently, but I have McAffee AND all my windows stuff on maximum security.... not a peep from ANY of them.

5.) When the start-up/shut-down issues started happening a few days ago it also said my CD-ROM driver was messed up, and I thought that was the ACTUAL problem, but when I fixed that, it still didn't stop the Bluescreen issues from occurring. I don't know what to do to fix ANY of this, but if someone does, or could AT LEAST explain what the hell it all means, that would be GREAT.

Boot Manager Issue: Dual Boot 64 Ultimate / Windows 7 Ultimate

Feb 6, 2009

I have a HP pavilion laptop which came with 64 bit vista ultimate pre-installed. I shrinked the OS partition (160 GB), created new partition (40 GB) for 64 bit windows 7 ultimate. After installation of Windows 7, I cannot see the vista ultimate boot option when I boot my PC. When I boot into Windows 7, I still can see the vista partition. But instead of C: it is now displayed as E: I used the HP Recovery Disc to repair windows vista but I can only see a blank blue screen with the mouse pointer. How can I recover the vista?

Missing Desktop, Taskbar, Task Manager, Start Menu

May 31, 2008

So basically, a few weeks after i got Vista i tried to install Stellarium (freeware astronomy program), which crashed my computer. I restarted, and after typing in my password I get "My Documents" open on a black screen, nothing else, no taskbar or desktop icons or anything. When i try to open the "taskbar and start menu" icon in Control Panel, nothing happens. Also, when I Ctrl-Alt-Del the usual screen comes up, but the task manager is no longer an option, and i can't think of how to access it or my taskbar. I've installed all the servfice packs and they haven't helped.

Two Versions On Boot Manager

Jun 21, 2009

I was having problems with my pc freezing. Took it in for a diognostic and everything came back fine. They said it was a Vista problem.

So, I reinstalled the operating system disk and put windows back on the PC.

Now when I turn on my PC I get the Windows Boot Manager screen asking to choose operationg system to star with two versions of Vista to choose from. The first on the list is the rebooted (new) version. If I click on the second one, it is my old version with all my old files and programs.

Funny thing is, I am not having any issues with the old version any more.(YET)

Is there anyway to get rid of the rebooted (new) version windows so I can stop getting the windows boot manager whenever I start the PC? I rather keep using the version with all my old programs and files since it seems to be fine.

Aug 17, 2008

Boot Manager Failed to load - ntoskrnl.exe. brand new to the forums but have been here for the past two days trying everything I can find to try and get my Vista Ultimate machine working again. I shut the computer off the other night before work, came home in the morning and rebooted... and upon loading got a black screen "Windows Boot Manager" coming up asking/telling me to "Repair" the computer. File: Windowssystem32 toskrnl.exe Status: 0xc000098. Info: Windows failed to load because the kernal is missing, or corrupt

I installed my vista disc and went through the repair... nada. I then tried a restore... nada... and now am at a loss. Is there a way to copy the file via the Command Prompt to the Vista drive from the dvd? Is it that simple (ha... I know... it never is)?

Does Kolibrie Software Have A Boot Manager, Can Hide From XP?

Mar 23, 2008

I am picking up a conversation that has been developing in a thread on another topic because I think it is signifacant and should get its own thread. Jawade of Kolibrie Software has been saying that his boot manager can effectively prevent XP volsnap.sys from erasing Vista's shadowcopies in a multiboot scenario. He has been trying a few things to verify this and hopefully he will join this thread and supply some info about it. So far he has verified that restore points and previous versions survive a reboot into XP and a reboot back into Vista.

During the Vista beta program several testers tried some well-known boot managers that were supposed to be able to hide a volume and either they did not function correctly with Vista or they did not hide a Vista volume at a low enough level to prevent XP from damaging Vista files.

Boot Manager Location Physically Disconnected The Hard Drive

Mar 23, 2008

When I've installed vista, the installation have set the boot manager to be on a different disk than the the boot loader. Now, if I want to remove the hard drive containing the boot manager, the system won't load, which is reasonable given these conditions, nonetheless I DO want to remove this hard drive and still be able to boot, therefore I've searched and queried everywhere and done the following: Physically disconnected the hard drive with the boot manager on it (d and boot with the Vista DVD to run startup repair -> this didn't help, the startup repair found the operation system but didn't recognize any problem, when trying to boot the system would not load, the error I'm getting when booting is disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart.

(reconnected d:, and system boots flawlessly, then) I've manually changed the boot manger (and memory diagnostic, the only other bcd entry on the d: drive) location with bcdedit to c:, and now bcdedit (and VistaBootPro) show the boot manager (and memory diagnostic) in the c: drive, HOWEVER, if I try to boot from that drive I get the same error: disk read error.................

XP 7 Triple Boot: System32hal.dll Is Corrupt Or Missing

Jun 12, 2009

I had a perfectly good dual boot Vista and XP system until I installed Windows 7 RC. I installed Windows 7 RC to a new partition on the Vista (slave drive) with XP installed on the master drive. Vista and Windows 7 booted okay but despite there being 3 options in the boot menu - Earlier Version of Windows (XP), Vista and Windows 7, XP would not (and will not) boot. The error message when selecting XP from the boot menu was that the boot.ini file is invalid; I then get a message saying that the system32hal.dll is corrupt or missing.

I used EasyBCD to restore a backup of the previous Vista boot loader which worked with XP. Windows 7 disappeared from the boot options but I still cannot boot in to XP - I get the same error message (boot.ini and hal.dll). I can boot in to Vista. EasyBCD tells me that there are 2 entries in the Vista bootloader:.....

Dual Boot: Could Not Be Loaded As The Application Is Missing Or Corrupt

Jul 29, 2008

wanting to add XP as an addl os using dual boot. I managed to get XP installed along with Vista home basic, but apparently messed up the boot sequence. I can can boot Vista, but not XP ...error window says file: tldr status: 0xc000000f the selected entry could not be loaded as the application is missing or corrupt

I used Vista Boot Pro 3.3 to set the booting. If I set VPR to install legacy booting, it will boot up with XP (no dual boot choice), but not Vista. If I select use legacy boot for selected drive E (XP), it says it is set, but a reboot brings me back to the error above. If I use VBR and set booting for Vista, only Vista boots. I have tried using the XP CD to do a repair install, but it asks for a password, which I never have set. When I hit enter, it keeps asking for password, then times out after the 3rd failed attempt. I only have the Vista backup CD (2 actually) from Dell, not an install Vista CD. My hd is a SATA, and I see that may be a problem by reading other threads here, but I have no floppy drive, only the cd/dvd. If I need another file which may be missing, can someone point me in the right direction ?
