BOOTMGR Is Compressed Press CTRL+ALT+DEL To Restart
Jun 14, 2007I think I broke something big time. I can't get into my computer with that and I don't want to format since I have basically everything on that computer. When I boot up I get a message saying:BOOTMGR is compressed Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart. I have an 80 gig that I am not using.

Feb 4, 2010My problem is when I boot up my computer all I get is this "NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart". I can still get into bios, but that's it. I've desided to order the recovery discs for my computer to do a full system recovery, hoping that will fix it. My question is though, will the discs fix this "NTLDR is missing" thing, or will I have to fix it some other way?

Oct 24, 2009About a month ago, my laptop (with vista as OS) started acting up, giving me error messages such as ?windowssystem32ootwinload.exe missing or corrupt? as well as ?windowssystem32stsem missing?. I tried everything I could in vain, and I decided to go ahead and format my hard drive, through another computer using an enclosure kit since I couldn?t even get into safe mode or any other mode without getting the error screen right away. I seemed that the problem was getting worst as I restarted my computer.
As I mentioned above, I formatted my disc, thus lost all data, hoping to be able to install a clean version of VISTA. I reinstall my hard drive in the laptop, and just to make a quick test, I started the computer without the VISTA DVD in and I got the error ?NTLDR is missing Press CTRL+Alt+Del to restart?, and wondering what that was about, I looked it up on the internet, and most people seemed to say that error message was a typical windows XP type of error. But I never had XP on.......

Aug 10, 2008I open the Admin(me) window and these 2 files are included in it and they were not there before. They are both ntuser.dat files. When I open them, I receive this message(see the 2nd screenshot). I can not delete them neither. It says "the action can't be completed because the file is open in another program." Are they system files or something I downloaded? How can I remove them from Admin window?

Feb 21, 2009I uninstalled Microsoft office 2007 and after that I noticed that although the resolution of my laptop display is adjusted to maximum at 1280X800 but the icons appear a little blur at their edges and the messages boxes that open do not show all the matter and commands that are there (screenshot attached).
I have scanned my window’s registry and also I have checked all the files with scannow option but nothing was found wrong anywhere and also all the drivers are working properly. But I cannot change the resolution by any means and my problem remains the same.

Feb 10, 2009Days after the leak of build 7022 (32-bit) to public torrent sites, WinFuture.de has posted a screenshot clearly showing a 64-bit Enterprise edition of build 7032. We already know of a build 7034, but this is significant because there have been no screenshots or any other tangible proof of any of the 703x builds. The screenshot shows the following build string: "'6.1.7032.0.winmain.090129-1812," meaning that the build was compiled on January 29, 2009 at 6:12PM. Since it is an interim build, it's not surprising that the screenshot shows the build expiring on July 2, 2009.
Other than the new build number, the screenshot (full-size image) does not show too much. A date is shown in the bottom left in a European format, but all this shows is that the screenshot was taken today. There appears to be a new icon in the taskbar, but it's not clear what it's for. IE8 is still at RC1, which is not surprising. The user has Hibernate set as the default for the power button in the start menu, but this doesn't necessarily mean Microsoft has changed it from Shut Down.
Media Player K-lite Codec Pack Screenshot
Jul 26, 2009So I have a issue with all media players causing lines in my media (and it flickers the lines so very annoying)I have the same issue in games but v-sync solves this issue on games. (FPS is above 100FPS in AA3/CS and so it jumps/causes the issue)....
Here is as screenshot of the issue. NOW this happens inside the player (if I make it smaller it wont do it on my desktop)So I thought v-sync issue so I downloaded nhancer and enabled it...didn't do anything. Real Media Player will do it but at the bottom (very bottom) I have the newest k-lite codec pack and that screenshot was from a DVD from my collection that I turned into a ISO on my PC.

Apr 28, 2010Here's the deal. I've been working on this laptop for a client for 3 days now, and I swear I've read every forum out there, so I apologize in advance for any headaches I may cause here. As the title says, it's an Acer 6930 with Vista Home Premium. When I boot to normal mode, it gets to the 'Welcome' screen, and the little spinning circle just sits and spins. The client said they actually let it sit like that for 2 days and it still did nothing. Boot to safe mode - BSOD, generally with 'Page Fault in Non Paged Area', but sometimes others as well. (Sorry I did not jot any of them down).
Boot to BartPE thumb drive - 'remove media and press any key to restart' Boot into 'repair your computer' - Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically. "Windows cannot repair this computer automatically. If you have recently attached a device to this computer, such as a camera or portable music player, remove it and restart your computer. If you continue to see this message, contact your system administrator or computer manufacturer for assistance. Hardware tests pass - memory and hard drive both come up clean.
Client doesn't have the Vista install disk, so I tried to D/L one last night, and apparently I got a bad image, because even in my other machine, the dvd is showing empty, so I am SOL on a Vista disk until I try to D/L another. I've checked out several forums as I said, and followed a lot of their instructions to no avail. I have also had the drive out and hooked to another machine, and ran Malwarebytes on it. The scan literally took 13 hours and found nothing wrong. I have also ran chkdsk and it fixed some bad sectors, but that's about it. SFC /scannow from the recovery area/cmd prompt says there is a repair pending and that a reboot is required, and you can reboot all day long and it will always tell you that. So, grab some aspirin after reading all that, get a coffee, smoke 'em if ya got 'em, and then let me know if you have any suggestions short of a 12 gauge at 20 yards.
This Copy Of Windows Is Not Genuine: Cannot Exit Unless I Press OK
Dec 15, 2008Almost every time I turn on my laptop and log into my account a screen comes up saying something along the lines of Thank You For Validating Windows. This takes up the whole screen and I cannot exit unless I press OK. After my desktop is fully loaded a message comes up saying that Windows Aero has stopped working, you may be a victim of counterfeiting. There is then a link which takes me to Genuine Microsoft Software. I then run the validation test and pass. Also sometimes there is a message in white writing in the corner of my desktop which says:
Windows Vista (TM)
Build 6001
This copy of Windows is not genuine. My Vista Ultimate is 100% genuine.

Jun 5, 2007I really had high hopes for x64 Vista. I put together a new system (specs below) that would be more than capable of handling the OS. I wanted to get the benefit of the full 4 GB of RAM as well as other potential benefits of x64. But it has really been a disappointment. If the computer is on screensaver for too long, it locks up and won't respond to ctrl-alt-del or anything but a hard reboot (no, it's not in hibernate mode). I've had driver problems and I can't even get Rome Total War, my favorite strategy game, to play. Is there any reason why I should keep x64 on?

Mar 23, 2008I have Vista on Inspiron 530 desktop. The PC is OK for about an hour then internet gets very slow, finally freezing. When I press ctrl alt del I get message "Logon process has failed to create the security options dialog" and below this "Failure - security options" . The only way out of this is to turn off the electricity to the pc.
Even if I don't get this error, I am seldom able to "shut down" the computer. I sometimes get the "logging off" message which changes to "shutting down" but even after waiting ages, it does not usually shut down so I just have to switch it off.
CTRL+C Routinely Fails
May 1, 2008Ever since I've had vista, CTRL+C routinely fails, and I'm not just imagining this. I don't get it happen once in XP, but in Vista it happens several times a day and is extremely frustrating. The only solution, do it again..."Do it twice incase it didn't work the first time"

May 6, 2008I am running Windows Vista Ultimate with Service Pack 1. I have Norton 360 installed as well as Windows Defender. Norton and Defender run at different times on different days. All of my e-mail is scanned before it is installed on my computer. There are no known viruses on my computer. A few days ago I noticed that my CPU would average nearly 80 to 90 percent. When I pressed ALT-CTRL-DELETE it would not respond. I ran taskmgr from the command line to see what processes were running. Nothing out of the ordinary was running.
I did see explorer.exe maxing at 50 percent at times. I read a few comments about this issue and one response was to delete ( I normally rename) vdmdbg.dll When I tried to do this I would get access denied. I did attempt to change the ownership but was unable to. I also changed my login process to require ctrl-alt-delete. When I did that it still would not accept it. I ran the login screen utility to allow me to enter the ctrl-alt-delete from the gui which did work.
Ctrl + C Does Not Copy Text
Apr 19, 2009Recently, Ctrl + C does not copy text into the clipboard although right-clicking and selecting Copy still works. This persisted even after a reboot. Also, Clipboard Viewer does not work at all (e.g.. Ctrl + C twice). How do I restore these functions? (Vista x64 SP1, Office 2007)
