Protect Computer And Driver Has Stopped Responding?
Oct 30, 2008
I suppose you can never have too much protection, but I would be interested to know if what I have is good enough or not enough
I have got Avast (could not go with AVG as its such a chore to shut the processes down) SpywareBlaster Spybot Search and Destroy Windows Defender (although I am not sure if this is any good, read somewhere that this was the program responsible for Nvidia Card users getting the famous "....... driver has stopped responding" error, its currently enabled on my system, but I am yet to have a long playing session, so I can't say if this error still comes up with or without Windows Defender.
Come to that, the driver error may not have anything to do with the Windows Defender.......I tend to believe everything I read so maybe someone more wise to this can say whether this is true or not. But my main question is, do I have enough to protect my Computer?
My graphic card because just awhile back my computer performance base score has always been 5.9 and and everything ran smoothly until i formated my hard drive with my recovery CD. After i finished installing all my drivers, i noticed my base score drastically dropped down to 1.0 cause of my graphic and graphic gaming when pross, ram, HD works perfectly. I went to go check if i downloaded the wrong driver but that wasnt the problem. i want to enabled SLI but now i get the Nvidia Geforce 9800 gtx (2x).
i just joined this forum in hopes of finding an answer to my problem, i have also searched the posts relating to my problem. A few days ago my pc was dropped of a stand with the monitor and everything connected. The onboard gfx does not work anymore (nVIDIA 6100 Geforce 405) and the plug is loose so i installed a nVIDIA 6200 Geforce PCI card, everything is fine till i go to run a high graphics game like WoW or SecondLife.
They work for a few seconds then the screen gets all messed up then goes off and back on, then a Hazard Sign in the System Tray pops up that says "Display Driver has stopped responding and has Recovered". Now i know enough to solve certain issues but this has me stumped, i've updated my drivers, even lowered the resolution to try to get the game to work but it does the same thing, now ive had this card in before a few months back, worked fine, then i took it out and went back to the onboard gfx. now the PCI card is giving me issues.
My computer shut down telling me that windows had stopped to protect my data. I then went to restart but on the black screen recovery console I can no longer choose which option I want ie. boot with safe mode, safe mode with networking or command prompt. My keys will not move the selector bar. I also now find that when I insert my Vista Premium 32 bit disc to utilise the repair windows function it keeps just rebooting to the desktop. My 1st boot drive is my dvd. How can I get past this startup problem?
I have a HP Computer. It came with Windows Live One Care witch I find fantastic. I would like some help with some of the best program protection possible to help keep my computer away from risk. Such as:
Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Extra Protection, Virus Vault, Scanning ECT.
1024MB XFX ATI HD4890 GDDR5, 4800 series that my graphic card. When i start up my pc, it runs fine and after about 30-60 mins, it suddenly goes black o some other colors. And restarting and shows this error-display-driver-has-stopped-working-has-recovered-successfully. But the weird thing is that, then it wont happen again, until i shut down my pc for alot of hours and when i start it up again it happen again, but its only once everytime i start it up. start it up, boom, restarting and after that it never happen again.
Well Vista is starting to get on my nerves with this one, Im trying to do a little spring cleaning in my folders and stuff organizing it and what not then sometimes when I right click something it will freeze then say, Explorer.exe has suddenly stopped responding and then it says to restart it so I do and its on certain programs that it does this.
When i play any game on my computer it freezes for a couple of seconds and then continues. when i exit the game i get the message " atikmdag has stopped responding and successfully recovered" I have the Catalyst Install Manager on my computer but as far as I know I don't have the Control Panel.. Sometimes it freezes and I can continue playing the game but the game and the rest of my computer looses all color until I restart it. If I log off and log on to another file on my computer all colour returns but when I go back to my file there is still no colour.
When it goes gray everything has weird patterns some vibrant and others not and all words become black squares..My computer crashed 2 months ago and i got it serviced. They said I had a defected mainboard? they replaced it but when I got my computer back I noticed they had also changed the graphics card without telling me? they changed it from a Nvidia 7 series.............
I'm running Vista SP1, fully patched, on a refurb Gateway HTPC that came with a Gateway branded remote + IR receiver. I use a Logitech Harmony 550 remote that already knew how to talk to Media Center.A couple weeks ago, around the time I installed Windows' latest updates (installed 9/13/08), Media Center stopped responding to both the Harmony & the Gateway remotes (I checked both). The IR receiver flashes for both remotes, and also appears with no problems in Device Manager. Device Manager shows no hardware conflicts and no other hardware problems. Media Center responds just fine to my wireless xGene mini-keyboard with trackball--but the remote makes TV viewing so much easier.
I have searched online and in this forum, and nobody else seems to be reporting this problem, so it can't be an issue with the Windows updates (unless it's specific to something else in my PC). The closest I came was a post on Aaron Stebner's blog citing the same problem after MCE 2005's Update Rollup 2. The solution then was to reconfigure the broadcast channel range, but the steps Stebner gives don't appear to work with my remote.
I have recently developed a piece of acupuncture training software using Macromedia Director MX 2004. I tested it on all platforms, and didn't get problems at the time. However, I obviously didn't test it on Vista long enough, as several Vista users have reported it hanging at random times. I have since tested it again, and indeed got the same problems (XP users don't seem to have these issues). I have experimented with changing the compatibility mode to XP SP2, but this doesn't cure the problem (although it might reduce the crashes slightly). I have checked the Problem report
Product Macromedia Projector Problem Stopped responding and was closed Date 24/07/2008 14:41 Status Report Sent Description A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows. Problem signature Problem Event Name: AppHangB1..............
vista sidebar suddenly stopped responding. i have enabled and disabled, and restarted several times. you can see the outline of the sidebar, but no default gadgets.
Im having problem connecting my Sony Vaio laptop to my external monitor. The problem is whenever i extended my screen to the external monitor, it shows atikmdag stopped responding and after a few second it crashed into blue screen.
several programs wont run after installation they just give me a stopped running error
game programs wont uninstall
when games are installing wont show the background, it will ask for the cd key but after that the program exits but still installs but after it installs it wont run. programs like mozilla run with no problems the error that seems to occur a lot is
Setup.exe has stopped responding
i have unblocked all these programs from my firewall and everything all of these work on my other vista cpu
When ever i try to delete a program or some file types off my computer, a popup comes on saying Windows explorer has stopped responding, and it closes all my windows and freezes my computer for a couple minutes. This has become very annoying as i am trying to clean up old files on my computer.
when i upgraded to SP2 my start button stopped responding to my mouse click. i tried goin back to SP1 but it still didnt work? when i try to right-click on the start orb it comes up but with three black rows at the bottom of the right-click menu? i had to download that "Vista Start Menu" just to use it again but i'd rather have the normal start menu.
When I connect a USB drive (SATA, 120GB) to a Vista Home Premium system (SP1), and Computer is selected, the Computer window says [not responding], as does the Management Console. Only when the drive is turned off, do Computer and Management Console function properly. The Vista system is running on an HP slimline desktop with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor, running the 32-bit OS, and using a high speed USB 2.0 enclosure ( ECS-STU35) with the Vista's USB drivers. BTW, the same USB drive mounts and its contents are accessible when attached to an XP Pro (SP2) system.
I have Window Vista Home Premium SP 1 64-bit operating system IE 7 I have a Canon Pixma MP500 that was purchased in 2006, and it will not download on my computer. I went to canon website and downloaded the driver and then put in the old CD and did what it said and it said something like this is not for 64-bit OS. Now I am not a computer wizard so I have a lot to learn.
when my computer goes into sleep mode, it wont come back...i have to turn off the computer& restart it. it says a driver is missing NIVIDA GeForce. I guess I dont know what that is or where to find it to either uninstall it or update it...i cant find it in the device manager...not when i type it in to search for it...i guess im stumped as to what to do..
Has anyone found a good fix for Fallout 3's crashes? Looking around the web shows this to be a huge problem for the game. The game started crashing on me about two weeks ago. I think I'm on level 9? At any rate upgrading my soundcard (X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro) and video card (ATI HD 4890 1GHz) has done nothing to stop the crashes. The upgrades were part of my system upgrade schedule and had nothing to do with the crashes, it hasn't. I get no error codes or anything other than a hard crash - the game just quits where it is and I have to Ctrl+Alt+Delete to get out the game. I know it's not the video card because I don't have the dreaded "Display driver has stopped" issue. Also my other games, FEAR2, Crysis, Crysis Warhead, and HL2 work just fine.
Ever since I did a Windows update back in July, my video card has been acting up. While I'm using the computer the image on the screen starts breaking up, then I get a black screen. I have to force the computer for a shut down. After so many re starts I get a message saying "Display Driver Stopped working and has recovered.
I can use the computer for a little while, and then I get the same problem again. I took my computer to fix when I started experiencing this problem. All they did was clean the fan they said the video cards was good. I have a Toshiba Satellite P105-S9339 bought in June 2007. Windows Vista Ultimate SP2 4 GB Ram 32 bit Internet Explorer 7. I know a few people here had the same problem. Did someone found the fix for it?
I get the BSoD about once or twice a day probably because of my video drivers, but I'm not sure how to fix it. My screen also flickers a lot and a message in system tray says something "has stopped responding and has recovered." These are the problem details I get after my computer boots up again:
Code: Problem signature: Problem Event Name: BlueScreen OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.256.6 Locale ID: 1033 Additional information about the problem: BCCode: 116 BCP1: 85B08228 BCP2: 8E221D20 BCP3: 00000000 BCP4: 0000000D OS Version: 6_0_6001 Service Pack: 1_0 Product: 256_1 Files that help describe the problem: C:WindowsMinidumpMini052409-02.dmp C:UsersRayAppDataLocalTempWER-72587-0.sysdata.xml C:UsersRayAppDataLocalTempWER227D.tmp.version.txt
I get a small alert window pop into the middle of the screen called "ENTER NETWORK PASSWORD" then text saying "type your username and password" Then there is three boxes with the details of my username etc and my password ****'d out. I can click "OK" or "CANCEL" or "CLOSE" but the box comes back. I am running Symantec virus protector and it finds nothing and Spybot and it shows there is a couple of items it can't correct unless I have admin profile.

Can I use Bitlocker on this laptop? Disk layout = Premium- XP Pro- Storage- Ultimate The storage partition is an extended partition. If I can use BitLocker on this laptop will it protect all 4 partitions?
Got a question here: If Password protected sharing is off in Networking and Sharing Center in Vista...
why am I still getting a login prompt on my WinXP computer?
My network map: The dashed line is a wireless connection; the solid line is a wired connection. "Nnet" is the wireless router. The switch is the hub which is a part of the wireless router. Michael-PC is Vista, and mdoccomputer is WinXP.
From what I am told, Cisco VPN client will not work with Vista and it is Microsoft's fault. Can you shed some light on this? Cisco is pointing the finger at MS, but it is their software that is causing the problem. Start Before Logon and Microsoft Certificate with Private Key Protect Fails Trying to connect the VPN client using Start Before Logon (SBL) and Microsoft Machine-based certificates fails. This is a Microsoft issue, not a VPN Client problem.
man do i post alot of threads. OK. Theres a pc in my family. i want to upgrade it to windows 7. here's the the thing. It has vista OEM so i have no driver cds. If i wanted to upgrade to 64 from32 clean install will it keep my drivers eg
-wireless drivers -graphics card driver -display driver SIMPLY will it keep/install the drivers???
Had to upgrade to a new PC, and most every new PC comes with Vista pre-installed, no options for XP. I try hooking up my 2 year old scanner - no Vista driver. I try hooking up a webcam a friend gave me - no Vista driver. So the whole purpose of upgrading to Vista was so I could go out and buy all new hardware!! This will be my last PC with a microsoft OS.
