When ever i try to delete a program or some file types off my computer, a popup comes on saying Windows explorer has stopped responding, and it closes all my windows and freezes my computer for a couple minutes. This has become very annoying as i am trying to clean up old files on my computer.

I've shut down IE, rebooted the machine and gone to Windows Explorer to delete this thing, but cannot. When I went to see if it was a read-only file, it was. But when I go to make it a non read-only file, I get the following message, "This is no longer located in the c:usersfavorites - verify the items and try again." Also I get this message "The system cannot find the file specified" ...I found this file in four other locations, and deleted them all. But still, I cannot get rid of it in the Favorites...

Check online for a solution does nothing. I looked at the details and realized I was running IE 7.0.6001.1800 so I downloaded IE 8, but the problem persists. Right now the only way I can make it happen is by trying to delete something in my Favorites folder, but it has just come up randomly a few times. I googled "Internet Explorer has stopped working" and got lots of pages where other users are having the same problem, suggesting various fixes, but none has worked for me so far. I tried to delete a template in "My Templates) in "Word". It would not go the the recyle bin as a file was opened in another program. I discovered that when I went Word I get Document 1. I then click the Office Button. Click on close and get a faded screen. Click the Office Button again and the only options are:
Open
Open from Office Live
Save to Office Live
Is this the open file? If it is how do I delete it?

Windows explorer decided not to respond and then said that it required restart, while in the process of restart explorer the laptop crashed with blue stop error screen. Afterwards, new startup screen came on saying the vista is unable to load and to chose either Startup repair or Resume Windows normally
now when I tried to use startup repair it was unable to fix problem and then tried to resume normally but this showed only a blank black screen. What is happening and how can I fix this?! when I right Clicked a short cut, file or folder within Windows Explorer. It caused Windows Explorer to Hang/Not responding. Then Idecided to do an update to the Vista, so I ran the Upda5te option. My problem of right clicking appeared again? I went back into Safe Mode to find and re-do the System Restor from Sept 24th and it no longer exist? the select older than 5 days was grayed out.
I did not delete or do anything (that I'm aware of) to remove it. It was the last one on the list. Was it deleted automatically due to storage size allowed? In any case, is there a way to get it back? I need to fix this problem - of right clicking something and having Windows Explorer hang/not repond. Do I have to do a Vista Repair from my DVDs to get rid of the problem?

I followed a suggestion to check "eventvwr" from the task manager and it seems as though the fault is associated with MP4splitter.ax My problem (or at least I think my problem) is that I cannot locate this file to delete it. I'm running Vista SP1, fully patched, on a refurb Gateway HTPC that came with a Gateway branded remote + IR receiver. I use a Logitech Harmony 550 remote that already knew how to talk to Media Center.A couple weeks ago, around the time I installed Windows' latest updates (installed 9/13/08), Media Center stopped responding to both the Harmony & the Gateway remotes (I checked both). The IR receiver flashes for both remotes, and also appears with no problems in Device Manager. Device Manager shows no hardware conflicts and no other hardware problems. Media Center responds just fine to my wireless xGene mini-keyboard with trackball--but the remote makes TV viewing so much easier.
I have searched online and in this forum, and nobody else seems to be reporting this problem, so it can't be an issue with the Windows updates (unless it's specific to something else in my PC). The closest I came was a post on Aaron Stebner's blog citing the same problem after MCE 2005's Update Rollup 2. The solution then was to reconfigure the broadcast channel range, but the steps Stebner gives don't appear to work with my remote.
I have recently developed a piece of acupuncture training software using Macromedia Director MX 2004. I tested it on all platforms, and didn't get problems at the time. However, I obviously didn't test it on Vista long enough, as several Vista users have reported it hanging at random times. I have since tested it again, and indeed got the same problems (XP users don't seem to have these issues). I have experimented with changing the compatibility mode to XP SP2, but this doesn't cure the problem (although it might reduce the crashes slightly). I have checked the Problem report
