Delete File Opened In Another Program

Mar 3, 2010

I tried to delete a template in "My Templates) in "Word". It would not go the the recyle bin as a file was opened in another program. I discovered that when I went Word I get Document 1. I then click the Office Button. Click on close and get a faded screen. Click the Office Button again and the only options are:

Open
Open from Office Live
Save to Office Live

Is this the open file? If it is how do I delete it?

Acdsee And Xnview File Can't Be Opened

Oct 19, 2008

My problem is that whenever I transfer image files from my digicam to my portable hard disk, some files get broken. This does not happen when I transfer the image files to the local hard disk. What I do is transfer the files directly from my memory card to my portable hard disk since I don't have my cable right now.

I tried using other image viewers such as ACDSee and XnView but still, the files can't be opened. I've also tried changing my portable hard disk from a Logitec to an I-O Data but still, the same problem persists. I tried saving the files first on the local hard disk and then moving them to the portable hard disk but to no avail.

Delete Folder From C:Program Files

Feb 11, 2010

I installed a program but it does not apear in the programs and features list while it is working well. I decided to uninstall it but I could not do this because it does not apear in the programs and features list so I tried to delete its folder from C:Program Files but I could not so then I turned my computer in the safe mode and I could delete its folder. Then the problems start to begin: the security center can not see the installed antivirus, when I try to uninstall or install the programs I get: (access is denied contact the administrator) although I am an administrator. Even i could not rename my folders in the C hard disk. also when I try to open system restore I get (There was unexpected error: class not registerd 0x80040154). I do not know if it is virus or a mistake I made by deleting that program.

Using Windows Mail under Vista, I am having trouble with some file types. .pdf and .jpg files both give me an error message saying that "This file does not have a program associated ...". And yet when I go to Control Panel->File Associations, .pdf is associated with Adobe Reader and .jpg is associated with Paint. When I click on one of these file types in any other context, the association works fine.

Best File Recovery Program

Nov 25, 2009

I need a good file recovery program that will run both under Vista and Win 7. It needs to be able to salvage files both deleted and those lost because of disc errors. It also needs to be able to work with both internal and external hard discs, and all flavors of CD and DVD. Any recommendations? Most of the ones that allow you to download a trial have crippled to trial so much that it's really hard to judge them. Incidentally, I ran the free Recuva on a DVD-RW; I started it at 12:30 PM and at 5:30 AM (17 hours later) it showed 89% complete, and at 8:00 it had stopped with the message "allocation error".

File Will Not Delete!

May 15, 2008

I downloaded a demo called Overclocked using ReGet Deluxe. When downloaded it comes as a Zip file which also had a file accompanying it. This is the file that I cannot delete. The extension says it’s a zip file but in properties it just says File as a file type & a size of 0 bytes. It’s located in my storage drive “D” When trying to delete the message I get is: This is no longer located in D:. Verify the item’s location and try again. Cannot move, rename or send to? It just comes up with the same message as above. UAC is disabled. Tried Unlocker but doesn’t work on Vista x64. (worked superb in XP) Used Regseeker and removed any traces that came up with. (Works ok in Vista but not 100% stable?) Tried Regedit and removed all traces of Overclocked in there. here is got to be a way of removing files like this without everyone’s solution of formatting. Surly it’s not as drastic as that?

Cannot Delete A File ..

Apr 29, 2009

I have a Vista Ultimate x64, which I reinstalled a few days ago. I also have a large drive(D:), where I keep some of my software, which i don't use regularly or which does not require a performance of my main RAID 0 (C:) setup.

Before reinstallation I didn't remove old software from drive D:. Didn't think I had to, afterall it's not the first reinstall that i'm doing and it would be kind of stupid. Anyways, to the point...

I have a folder "D:Program Files (x86)" with a bunch of software. I was able to delete all of it manually, but a few folders, created by adobe acrobat.

I am logged in as Administrator (actual administrator, not user with admin. perm.)

UAC is disabled

Drive is owned by this acct.

I was able to delete everything manually inside "AdobeAcrobat", but "D:Program Files (x86)AdobeAcrobat 9.0ResourceCMap" just would not delete, getting a "You need permission to perform this action" message.

Folders and Files are set as "Read Only" and when i'm trying to uncheck, i'm getting "You will need to provide Administrator permission to change these attributes" message, after clicking "Continue" i'm getting "An error occured applying attributes to the file" "...filename..." "Access is denied".

I have an Acrobat 8.0 folder from like a year and a half ago, which does the same thing......

All Files have "RA" in the attributes section of the details tab and Owner is "SYSTEM"

Moving To 64, Program File Directories

Sep 2, 2008

About a week or so ago, I decided to upgrade my PC to Windows Vista. I gave it awhile, mostly didn't want to deal with an upgrade and all that. System has been fine on XP for years...why mess with it. But having gotten a new video card, I just wanted to be current on my OS again. As it turns out, I like Vista alot and have had little to no trouble with it. If you look at my system config, nothing is more than a year old at most, so my computer, at least for my needs is still "current." Having tried and like Vista 32bit (Home Premium) I have decided to take the next step into 64bit and that's why I am here. My system is 64 bit compatible, so I figure it's time to take full advantage of it. I have important apps I use for school for 3D that have 64bit versions I've been wanting to try, and I have 2 Gigs of RAM coming today which will make my total 4 and 64bit is the only way I can utilize it all!

I'll probably be doing the format install sometime tonight, which finally brings me to why I posted. In my research of Vista 64, I have read some blurbs about it giving youo 2 program files, Program Files and Program Files x86 (Or something.) I've also read that in some cases it can be important to make sure you install a certain program to the right one. My system has 3 physical Hard drive, that I partitioned in several total for storage, windows, programs, games, and so on. My current Program Files is a 80GB Partition all by itself. It's a different physical drive than Windows is on. Will installing applications to this drive like I have always did cause me any trouble in this new Vista 64 bit I'm about to dive into? My system will definately have a mix of 32bit and 64bit apps, with more by far probably being 32bit. Also while I think to ask, will the Vista 64 install procedure allow me to just wipe the partition my OS is currently on? Or will going to 64 bit require me to wipe the entire physical HDD? The other partitions that share the Windows INstall Partition are just storage so I don't want to format them unless I need to.

Associations To Cd Rom Drive: File Does Not Have A Program Associated

Jul 13, 2009

I went to open a software disc that I just put in my drive and I moved to fast or something and clicked on the wrong option on the context menu and messed up the association to my cd/dvd rom drive. Now I cant get the drive to auto start and show the icon next to the cd drive letter. It also wont run if I double click on the drive.

I get an error that says: This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associations control panel. Now I have tried everything from exefix_vista.reg, inffix_vista.reg, exefix_cu.reg. I'm not new to computers, but this has me all messed up. I need to use that disc for school. I even tried putting a disc in for my router software and still get the same error. I don't know where to go from here. I've uninstalled my drive and drivers, I've checked with Vista repair, nothing works. I don't want to have to reload my OS if I can help it.

File Does Not Have A Program Associated With It For Performing The Action
