im having a problem on my Vista...my display adapters on DEvice manager has a (!) sign...i cant update my Microsoft Windows Standard VGA Adapter version 6.0.6000.16383 6/21/2006. please teach me were can i download the driver...i hope someone teach me to resolve this.
View 6 RepliesI got a Nvidia 8400GS When i got the PC but brought a Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3870 X2 / 1GB / PCI Express 2.0 / Graphics Card. My brother took out the Nvid card and then formated the PC to make sure that all drivers where uninstalled then put the ATI card in. In divice manager under dispaly adapters there is standard VGA Graphics Adapter and further down the page there is "Other Divices" with Video controller. When it installs these some times the standard VGA Graphics Adapter fail but the video controller succeed but with error. saying. "Incompatable display Adapter has been disabled. At least one display adapter on the system has been disabled because its not compatible with the driver for the VGA adapter". lso i carnt change the resolution above 1024X768. Also my Graphic card is a Sapphier brand but in the windows update its looking for ATI Technologies Inc. - Display - ASUS EAH3870X2 Series

I turned the resolution to the highest and made sure the colours option was at 32bit. This helped and shrunk the screen a bit but now it is still a little bit stretched and the image is not as sharp as it used to be. How can i get it back to its origional format?

View 6 Replies View RelatedThe Microsoft 6to4 adapter showed in the device manager that it was not working properly. If you look at yours it may show the same. I think I disabled it trying to update it. This was before I found this short sweet article from Microsoft. Does anyone know if I will experience problems in the future when this new technology gets more prevalent? If so, how do I get it back. I followed the instructions that a vista pro gave me to fix this problem and it shows in the reliability monitor that it was installed...but it is not showing int he device manager. Would it be installed but not show on the device manager?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI am running Office Home and Student 2007 and have just run a diagnostic which suggests that my installation is not up to date and that I go to the Microsoft Update site and download any available updates. When I do, I am asked to sign on with 'Microsoft Update'. The idea is, I think, to combine this Microsoft Update with my Windows Update and let Office updates come though along with updates for Vista, IE, etc. I have posted here before with issues concerning updates including a fiasco I had last November which involved Office updates and am wondering, since Office seems to be working well at the moment (I was bored so I did a diagnostic ) should I bother with this or just leave it? Does Office have security issues like IE and Vista?

View 4 Replies View RelatedI have problem with this version of java on Internet Explorer 7. I am using Vista x64 Ultimte version. Problem is that on java sites eg my online banking, the applets or whatever doesn't load.
But on my firefox or opera browser, it load the same site correctly with the java applets.
Both apart is quite straightforwad. Go to Options and select which you desire. But I am NOT able to achieve both. Tried two approaches: First I made a BMP-file with my signature and logo and used the stationary wizard to put that on left bottom of my messages. In the wizard I can also change the font and size. Easily done. But ... when I compose a mail the bitmap doesn't go down with the text which makes this approach quite useless.
Secondly I made a HTM-document with Word and again placed my signature and logo on the bottom. In Mail itself I tell to use font Calibri 12. The HTML-text scrolls nicely down when I compose a mail but it KEEPS typing in dull times New Roman 12. The 2nd approach is closest to what I desire apart from the font. Maybe there is a 3rd approach which I haven't found. Maybe there is a simple solution.
I have a issue with my Linksys wireless USB adapter. I am trying to use it with Vista Home Premium. After installing software... I plug the adapter in (like directions say) and windows update goes to work. It updates the driver, installs correctly, I then connect to my home network and all is good. My prob is for some reason I lose internet and the USB adapter itself. One time I switched users and lost all. I have tried uninstalling adapter and tried reinstalling by pointing to my D drive (install CD) in hopes of using the driver that's on the installation CD. as soon as it saw everything.. windows update once again gave me the same buggy driver. I have tried to install with UAC disabled... no luck... the Linksys website/support for drivers has the same updated driver. I tried to use an older one but Windows keeps forcing this updated one down my
throat.
I don't know if anyone else had a problem with the latest update from the wonderful people at Microsoft but I sure did. The system suddenly went into a loop trying to install the latest update then shut down at installing step 3 of 3 at 0%. Well I tried everything and then finally did a reinstall and NOT formatting the drive as to keep the windows.old files. Everything worked great and then the install happened again but this time it took with no problem. It may have been that at the same time cyberlink was having issues with playing a blue ray but I am not sure. I just thought I might mention the solution in case anyone else had the problem. Now everything is nearly back up and no problems so far.
View 4 Replies View RelatedA couple of days I did a stupid thing. Thinking it would free some diskspace I deleted "WindowsSoftwareDistribution" folder after rebooting I noticed that Windows update is not using Microsoft update service anymore, instead it reverted to Windows update service.
I clicked on the "Get updates for more software" link button, I was directed into Microsoft update website. unfortunately right after the "Review the license agreement" page I got the 0x80070002 error on Microsoft update, so I tried going to Windows update instead on IE but I also got an error there. When I tried checking for updates on My computer it worked like a charm (only Windows update not Microsoft update).
So I googled the error (since Microsoft website was no help at all) I found a couple of solutions Deleting the content of "WindowsSoftwareDistributionDataStore" then starting Windows update. And that was no help at all. I reverted the content of the folder "WindowsSoftwareDistribution" as it was before I started missing with it. And that was no help at all..............
I had issues last November with what I suspected was a problem with updates for Office 2007 from Microsoft Update. After a Factory Image reinstall and reloading all my software, everything was humming along nicely. Then I discovered that my Office wasn't up to date and went over to MS update to pick up the security updates. I got 20 updates including SP1 for Office.
I have been installing them a few at a time and the last batch included a security update for OneNote 2007 KB950130 and tw security updates for Office KB951944 and KB954326. When I went to restart, the SAME THING HAPPENED AS IN NOVEMBER. Exactly.
The computer rebooted fine till it got to the point where I sign in and then somewhere in between the welcome screen and the desktop loading, it froze solid. The little tone that sounds when the desktop loads went into a stutter and then slowly faded.............

My PC had been working fine until 10th Sept when I downloaded some new updates from Microsoft, at once the internet connection slowed to a trickle.
I contacted my ISP but after running some tests they said their signal strength was good and suggested I had a virus or a trojan. Cue outbreak of paranoia and much scanning with various programmes (which all had extreme trouble downloading their updates), after they all came up clean - apart from a few minor trackers - I posted a thread in the 'Network and Internet' forum and was advised to check the Events Viewer.
This showed a flurry (about 50 or so) Yellow Flags saying that the last updates may not have been applicable to my system, after some Google searching about these updates and the internet I narrowed it down to KB905866, but even after uninstalling the internet connection is still a trickle.
I tried uninstalling all the 10th Sept updates but that made the IE8 very unstable (sudden crashes and hanging), so put them back on just to get back to where I was.
I thought I'd set the PC to create Restore points but there were none, but one of the posts on another Forum about this update says it can wipe Restore points.
I was using ZoneAlarmExtreme when this started, but have now uninstalled it and am running Kaspersky 2010 and there are no conflicts of firewalls etc.

I suppose I could uninstall VirtualPC since I have not been using it lately.
I should mention that it does not show up in the Control Panel | Progarams and Features Installed Updates list, though.
One other thing: VirtualPC is not supposed to work on Vista, but it does. In fact my son does development using it daily.
I keep getting a message that this update is ready to install. I have installed it about 10 times, but after it is installed, I get the update icon and the same update is there ready to be installed. When I look at the installation history, it shows that it has been installed successfully. HOW do I keep this update from showing up time after time? View 9 Replies View Relatedi'm kinda desperate atm. My laptop has this annoying habit of reverting back to windows standard/classic theme after almost every restart. I said almost as after 2/3 and sometimes even more, my aero theme correctly appeared. After another restart right after that, the problem occurs all over again. The search function in the start menu and windows explorer also 'failed to initialize' when in the said windows standard/classic mode.
I figured that this might have something to do with my user profile as I have the 'User Profile Service service failed the login. User profile cannot be loaded' problem once very recently but I've fixed it using the tutorial in this forum. The windows standard/classic theme problem had been on for quite a while back, before the user profile problem. Before all this happened, I've had this 'C:WindowsSystem32configsystemprofileDesktop refers to a location that is unavailable...' problem. I fixed that by copying all my files and folders in my C:Users[Username] folder to the location above and replacing all the files including desktop.ini. It is only after this that I've had the windows standard/classic theme problem.
I couldn't help but wonder if somehow my user profile has got something to do with it? Windows system restore could not fix this problem. By the way, I'm using a modified aero theme at the moment, using TuneUp Utilities 2009 on a Vista Home Premium 32bit Acer 5920G laptop.
is it safe to install Windows Updates logged into the machine as standard user (as opposed to a Computer Administrator)? Up until now I have always logged into the machine as the Computer Admin specifically to install updates - but is this necessary?
