Update Microsoft Windows Message Error Code"8054402c"
Dec 27, 2008
I hope you can help as this is driving me nuts. I have installed Vista Premium 32 bit I have a net gear wireless pci card and have jsut installed Vista sp1 premium on my com fresh after I though it was some thing I have installed wrong on my com as I can not dl any updates from microsoft or dl any thing from microsoft web pages eg windows messenger. I keep getting a error number on my updates as follows : code 8054402c and from the webpages from microsoft it jsut come up with a can not diisplay page after i click download. I have tried on both Ie and firefox same thing happens.
I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit without service pack 1 and have been trying to download windows updates for about a month now. I get a Windows Update error message 8007000b I ran the command prompt as administrator, typed in fsutil resource setautoreset true C: and I got a message saying “The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable” I have tried to download updates 1 at a time, turned off my anti virus And tried manual updates My Error checking is not working “windows can’t check the disk while it’s in use” And schedule disk check does not work The System File Checker tool gives the message “windows resource protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them” The windows memory diagnostic tool runs, reboots and does not display any results
when i insert my windows vista update disk, the computer reads it then ejects it with no error message or anything. i installed XP on in a few days ago and activated but didnt register it. i figured that this was happening because i didnt register it but now i cant find where to register the XP.
A couple of days I did a stupid thing. Thinking it would free some diskspace I deleted "WindowsSoftwareDistribution" folder after rebooting I noticed that Windows update is not using Microsoft update service anymore, instead it reverted to Windows update service.
I clicked on the "Get updates for more software" link button, I was directed into Microsoft update website. unfortunately right after the "Review the license agreement" page I got the 0x80070002 error on Microsoft update, so I tried going to Windows update instead on IE but I also got an error there. When I tried checking for updates on My computer it worked like a charm (only Windows update not Microsoft update).
So I googled the error (since Microsoft website was no help at all) I found a couple of solutions Deleting the content of "WindowsSoftwareDistributionDataStore" then starting Windows update. And that was no help at all. I reverted the content of the folder "WindowsSoftwareDistribution" as it was before I started missing with it. And that was no help at all..............
Microsoft Update was first released a few years ago for Windows XP and Server 2003 as a great way to update all of your Microsoft software installed on your PC. Not only would it update Windows, but it would also update Microsoft Office. Are you a Microsoft Outlook user? If so, Microsoft Update would even download updated junk mail signatures when they are released.
In Windows Vista the new Windows Update application is no longer web-based. Microsoft has built-in the old Microsoft Update functionality into the new interface but you need to turn it on before you can use it. Follow these steps to turn on updates for other Microsoft applications: ...
That is the message I get from the icon in my Vista tray. When I try to manually check for Windows Updates I get the message that I need to "first install an update for Windows Update". When I try to install that update for Windows Update, I get error code 80070643. There is a lot written about Windows Update error 80070643 having specifically to do with restarting the Office Source Engine for Microsoft Office 2003. HOWEVER, I do not have Microsoft Office 2003 installed on my system and this is not my issue! I am quite fearful at this point that I am vulnerable to all sorts of attacks considering that I haven't updated Vista for about 6 months now. This is not good.
Just ahead of the launch of Windows 7 comes Microsoft Security Essentials, their new free anti-virus package based on their award-winning ForeFront corporate security scanning engine. I wrote last night that this software is being released today and there was an interesting comment from Yatti420 who wrote. MS should just push MSE to all users.. I notice lots of clients comps coming in now with stuff AVG misses.. MSE is a Microsoft Product that just works well.. Link - Should Microsoft push MSE through Windows Update? | Windows 7 News
I am unable to post the Error message here. Socket No, 11001 it's the same 0x800CC ..that we've been hearing about. No answers have made sense so far. My mail is a mess - old mesages are being re-sent, I occasionally get a message and occasionally can send one. Sporadic at best. My ISP does not provide support outside their own web page mail service.
im having a problem on my Vista...my display adapters on DEvice manager has a (!) sign...i cant update my Microsoft Windows Standard VGA Adapter version 6.0.6000.16383 6/21/2006. please teach me were can i download the driver...i hope someone teach me to resolve this.
I am trying to open a file in windows media player and receiving the following message: You've encountered error message C00D10D1 while using Windows Media Player. The following information might help you troubleshoot the issue. Codec is missing
Windows Media Player cannot play the file (or cannot play either the audio or video portion of the file) because the Microsoft MPEG-1 (50) codec is not installed on your computer. I have downloaded vista codecs v5.02 and still unable to play file.
everytime i go to send a message through windows mail it say error check for right server. I tried sending myself an email to my yahoo account to find out my windows mail address. I've never used anything but yahoo. But, i think i'd like windows mail better.
I'm getting the following error message when Windows Mail (Vista 64 Home Premium SP1) tries to send e-mails from my laptop: The connection to the server has failed. Subject ..., Account: 'verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. Downloading incoming mail is not a problem, and I obviously can post to newsgroups. Although this is a new problem, I turned off Norton's checking of outgoing mail - no change. Verizon had us change to Port 587 last year so that's not the issue either. WM does send e-mail from my desktop so apparently the problem is specific to the laptop.
I am running Office Home and Student 2007 and have just run a diagnostic which suggests that my installation is not up to date and that I go to the Microsoft Update site and download any available updates. When I do, I am asked to sign on with 'Microsoft Update'. The idea is, I think, to combine this Microsoft Update with my Windows Update and let Office updates come though along with updates for Vista, IE, etc. I have posted here before with issues concerning updates including a fiasco I had last November which involved Office updates and am wondering, since Office seems to be working well at the moment (I was bored so I did a diagnostic ) should I bother with this or just leave it? Does Office have security issues like IE and Vista?
when I go to the update, it asks me to check for an update after that it asks me to update windows vista update. when I go to download the windows vista update it errors me. I have had a read through the update logs, and the error code I am getting is : 0x800b0001. A quick google lead me to belive that this was a problem with cryptographic service provider: Error code when you try to use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates: "0x800B0001". anyway, I tried both of the fixes listed on the page and to no avail. When I tried the software fix, it proceeds to the update, but just pauses about 75% in. when I tried the registering .dll option, the .dll registered but the computer still does not update.
Club member's computer. Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit. When I first picked it up, no shortcut link to a program would work. I drilled down to the executible files; winword.exe, excel.exe, iexplore.exe and then double click. The error message went something like this: "This file does not have a program associated with it from performing this action. Create an association in the Set Associtation Control Panel." There was no way to "restore to a previous... No dice. With a start up disk, was able to solve that problem.
Disk Cleanup removed 2.45MB. Uninstalled Trend Micro (subscription had expired a year ago!) Installed and updated AVG 9 Free ran a complete scan - nothing. I installed Malwarebytes and it found one insignificant cookie. I went to Windows Update, the first update offered was Service Pack 1. It installed. I downloaded and attempted to install Service Pack 2. Error 0x8004100a with a link to a web page that offered several means of installing the service pack; Windows Update -- found a few insignificant updates, download the SP2 installation file which I had already done, so I did it again. No dice.
I have some strange problems with my comp security. I cannot update windows - error 8024402C In Help I found that I have to turn off Firewall, Antivirus,anti-spyware software, while downloading and installing updates.I checked my Windows Security Center and found out that I have 2 Firewalls Windows Firewall and McAfee on at the same time. I can turn Windows Firewall off,but I can't do anything to McAfee.I have no idea where it comes from.I never installed it and more than that I checked all my computer, registry. I didn't find anything close to it.
But my Security Center says that I have not only McAfee Firewall ,butI also have McAfee Antivirus and multiple antispyware programs and all this stuff turned on and up to date.Sometimes I have this : -"problem was caused by itdefender Antivirus, which was created by Bitdefender. Currently, there is no solution for the problem that you reported" I do not have any Bitdefender in my computer. Where all this stuff comes from. The only Antivirus that I installed in my comp was NOD32 But I had to uninstall it Because I do not want them to conflict with each other.
I recently purchased Windows Vista Premium upgrade for my Computer. I installed it as an upgrade and it worked for a little bit then it needed to downloaded updates. After it downloaded the updates it said it needed to install them and close windows and reopen. So it closed and when Windows reopend it said that the updates had an error and needed to reload and shut down and restart. Then it did it again and again and again. So being disgusted with the whole thing I did a clean install. Now what my problem is, is that when I try to activate windows online it says that my version of Windows is for upgrading not for clean install and it wont give me the option to activate by phone. How do I go about doing it by phone? What would be the phone number to do this?
So I have been reading a lot lately about the registry cleaners and vista. It seems everyone has their own opinion on why not to use one, and why to use one... Well come to find out the cause of the wide spread Windows Update 80004002 error for me was using Glary Utilities and CCleaner's reg cleaner... So I'm asking why are so many people against it? I'm looking for factual evidence why they are bad for Vista or XP
in my Windows Update, this 'optional' update is forever on there, waiting for me to install it. Well, when I do try to install it, it just ends up failing with error code 80070103 (Unknown error). Is this update necessary for regular use or do I need it, despite it being labeled optional. Oh, and why does it fail continually?
My Dell Inspiron 1520 laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium has failed to load the subject update on 20 different occasions since 13Nov09. The "Error Details" is Code 80073712, which is nothing more than a general error code with no specific fixes recommended.
The last two weeks have been the worst in my life: I just got a new DELL XPS M1530 with VISTA HOME PREMIUM. How I wish I had not...The following is a copy of the logbook of my problems. Some of you may find my workarounds useful. I got most of the tips from random googling. As it took a while to fix each problem, I thought I should summarize some of the tricks, for reference. The following outlines all the steps I followed since getting the new machine two weeks ago......
Fix the following problem.
Windows Update error 8024402C
If you receive Windows Update error 8024402C while checking for updates, you might need to do one of the following: If the computer is connected to a network at work, contact a network administrator. You probably receive updates using Windows Server Update Services (WSUS), a service that enables network administrators to deploy and manage updates for all computers on a network. For more information about WSUS, go to the Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) website. If your computer is usually connected to a network at work (for example, if you use a mobile PC but you are currently using it at home or at another location), you probably receive updates using WSUS and can not receive updates by connecting directly to the Internet or to another network, such as a home network. To solve the problem, connect to the network at work and try checking for updates again, or contact a network administrator. If the computer is connected directly to the Internet or to a home network (and never connected to a network at work), you might need to set Internet Explorer to automatically detect local area network (LAN) settings so Windows Update can go online to obtain updates. To do this, follow the steps below.....
I have installed Microsoft Office 2007 SP2 from windows update...but i have a question....How can i delete this ''failed message'..not updates..only 'fail message'' from update history..look at this
I received an error: Error details: Code 57A. I tried multiple times to install, all with the same error. I did try downloading the update to my desktop, and install with the option "run as administrator...no luck. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.
Every time I try to run System Restore I get an error message saying that the restore was unsuccessful because of an error. Try again with a different date
My PC crashed on me last month. The hard drive had to be erased and re-loaded. Microsoft will not allow me to activate the same Vista version that came with my PC. Error message says it is in use by another computer. The Microsoft web site Help and Support solution did not work - same error message. They now want to charge me to get a new product code or contact them for help.

Everytime I open IE an error messeage gets displayed. I clicked the "Diagnose Connection Problems" button and the a box appeared saying "Windows confirmed that www.yahoo.com is currenly online, but is not responding to connection attemps at this time. This usually means that a irewall is runng somewhere between the wo computers and is blocking World Wide web servie (HTTP). Windows has confirmed that indows Firewall on this computer is correctly configured to allow this conection. However, a remote firewall mightbe blocking your connection." If you have access to this firewall then configure the firewall to allow connection through TCP port80. If you don't have acess contact your network aministrator or internet service provider. What should I do?
