I am unable to post the Error message here. Socket No, 11001 it's the same 0x800CC ..that we've been hearing about. No answers have made sense so far. My mail is a mess - old mesages are being re-sent, I occasionally get a message and occasionally can send one. Sporadic at best. My ISP does not provide support outside their own web page mail service.

It was Windows service pack1 it didn't complete there was an error message 700706BE. I restarted my computer and I have not been able to get into Windows at all. I get a message saying that one of my files is corrupted.

Subject ..., Account: 'verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E. Downloading incoming mail is not a problem, and I obviously can post to newsgroups. Although this is a new problem, I turned off Norton's checking of outgoing mail - no change. Verizon had us change to Port 587 last year so that's not the issue either. WM does send e-mail from my desktop so apparently the problem is specific to the laptop.

For some reason I have to press 'POST MESSAGE' several times before it will open the message session. I thought at 1st it may have been the forum itself but went in there today and used my laptoop with Windows XP and was able to leave a message staight away. View 5 Replies View RelatedI am not able to post a thread on one of the websites that I have added as a trusted site on my computer. I sign in immediately after visiting the site. After that I am asked to sign in again to allow me to post a message. The same screen shows up repeatedly after I put in the same info I used when I started. It doesn't indicate that the password or the name is incorrect. The website was contacted for assistance. Their solution was to delete all temporary internet files which was done, but it didn't help. I am posting my question here because it is a problem with my computer, not their site. It does seem to be a bit strange that since I am signed in that I would have to sign in to post a message on the forum. A bit redundant.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI want to backup my emails in Win Mail (Vista home premium) - all of them so theres hundreds of them in dozens of folders I have created. So I go file - export - messages, select a format, select an EMPTY folder on my 1TB external drive, then try to export. I either get an error message telling me that some files may be corrupt, or that the destination folder may be too small. Or if I select just a tiny folder to export, it says export successful, but it only exports ONE email - the top one in the list I think? I really dont think I have corrupted files here - any folder I select to export seems to have a problem... as my motherboard is flakey, and I want to do the backup ASAP before it 'flakes' again!
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever I start my PC, I get greeted with a message after the POST screen, in the standard DOS-type text, simply saying "GRUB" (or "GRUB GRUB"). From here, the PC becomes unresponsive, and I can only turn it off. I believe this is linked to the Grub Boot Loader I once had installed on my secondary hard drive which was installed in a different PC. However, it has only been rearing its head over the last couple of days.
I have tried the "bootrec" command from the Vista disc with the /fixmbr, /fixboot and /rebuildbcd commands. However, this has not provided me with a permanent fix. The /rebuildbcd and /scanos arguments return a message saying it found no compatible Vista installations. Vista will start with no problems, however, provided the Vista install disc is in the DVD drive. I don't need to "press any key to boot from the DVD", just having it in the drive is perfectly sufficient.
Just recently I've been having some troubles with my hard drive failing, which may or may not be related. (The first paragraph of the first post is probably the most relevant): Vista won't start. Note that I have also done a full system scan using NOD32, which found no problems. I am completely confused about this problem; I'm even more confused, though, about how the problem arose in the first place.
I recently installed Office Home & Student on a new machine with Vista and found that I can no longer copy an Excel chart and past it in the message space in Mail. I could do this with no problem using Office 2002 - XP and Vista. Is the problem with Vista or with Office 2007? I have already changed the registry to allow direct e-mail from Word and Excel to Mail (by-passing the requirement to have Outlook), but this doesn't seem to be related to that silly feature.

Whenever I try to click on "File > Import > Messages... > Microsof Outlook " a pop up window appears to me warning me about a MAPI driver problem (it is not installed). I have already tried to download an Outlook 2007 trial version in order to solve this problem, but I didn't work. Does anybody know how to solve this problem? The emails I have in the pst files are very imporant and I really need to import them to Windows Mail.

I had no issues with Windows Mail as my default client and a new message window would open when I clicked mailto links. Earlier today I clicked a mailto for the first time in a week or so, and it tried to open Microsoft Outlook 2003, which is also installed on my machine, but not the default mail handler. Going into the Mozilla Firefox options, I found that for some reason it was defaulting to Outlook. I changed the setting to Windows Mail, but now instead of opening the new message window, it just opens Windows Mail.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAgain. Last time this happened, everyone blamed McAfee, so I killed McAfee and installed AVG Free which is good because it is free. But now I have exactly the same symptoms:
a) Won't download load messages from the server, tries, but eventually times out
b) Happens with Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Outlook 2007
I've now uninstalled AVGFree re-booted and the mail client(s) still stick at "downloading measage 1 of 65" then timeout after 180 seconds. here do I look next? Webmail is fine.XP and McAfee was rock solid problem free for years - Windows Mail performance is shocking even when working properly? My son bought a new Dell laptop last month with Vista , he has ripped out Vista, installed XPSP2 (he used MY spare licence!) and he works grief free. I've been using Vista for 6 months now - is time to quit and return to XP peace and stability?Oops I'm using an Acer 5630 laptop with 2GB of RAM Vista Home Premium, Intel Core Duo 1.66G CPU. At idle Vista is grabbing just less than1GB of RAM (I've only the standard gadgets running + IM, A/V is uninstalled while I try to get eMail working again. Is it me, but isn't an O/S that needs 2GB to run a basic suite of MS office applications reasonably well, a bit out of hand?
