Asked To Sign In Again To Allow To Post Message

Aug 10, 2009

I am not able to post a thread on one of the websites that I have added as a trusted site on my computer. I sign in immediately after visiting the site. After that I am asked to sign in again to allow me to post a message. The same screen shows up repeatedly after I put in the same info I used when I started. It doesn't indicate that the password or the name is incorrect. The website was contacted for assistance. Their solution was to delete all temporary internet files which was done, but it didn't help. I am posting my question here because it is a problem with my computer, not their site. It does seem to be a bit strange that since I am signed in that I would have to sign in to post a message on the forum. A bit redundant.

Can Post A Message

Feb 14, 2009

since I have had Windows Vista on my computer I can post a message somedays and not others. For some reason I have to press 'POST MESSAGE' several times before it will open the message session. I thought at 1st it may have been the forum itself but went in there today and used my laptoop with Windows XP and was able to leave a message staight away. Is there something I need to do to my computer to allow me into forums?

Greeted Message After POST Screen: GRUB

Jun 14, 2008

Whenever I start my PC, I get greeted with a message after the POST screen, in the standard DOS-type text, simply saying "GRUB" (or "GRUB GRUB"). From here, the PC becomes unresponsive, and I can only turn it off. I believe this is linked to the Grub Boot Loader I once had installed on my secondary hard drive which was installed in a different PC. However, it has only been rearing its head over the last couple of days.

I have tried the "bootrec" command from the Vista disc with the /fixmbr, /fixboot and /rebuildbcd commands. However, this has not provided me with a permanent fix. The /rebuildbcd and /scanos arguments return a message saying it found no compatible Vista installations. Vista will start with no problems, however, provided the Vista install disc is in the DVD drive. I don't need to "press any key to boot from the DVD", just having it in the drive is perfectly sufficient.

Just recently I've been having some troubles with my hard drive failing, which may or may not be related. (The first paragraph of the first post is probably the most relevant): Vista won't start. Note that I have also done a full system scan using NOD32, which found no problems. I am completely confused about this problem; I'm even more confused, though, about how the problem arose in the first place.

Unable To Post Error Message In Windows Mail

Jun 1, 2008

I am unable to post the Error message here. Socket No, 11001 it's the same 0x800CC ..that we've been hearing about. No answers have made sense so far. My mail is a mess - old mesages are being re-sent, I occasionally get a message and occasionally can send one. Sporadic at best. My ISP does not provide support outside their own web page mail service.

Sending E-mail But Keep Getting Asked To Set Up New Email Account

Mar 24, 2009

Vista Home Premium SP1
Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.0206)

I'm trying to send an email but keep getting asked to set up a new email account and then getting the following message:

Information About HTTP E-mail

Windows Mail no longer supports the HTTP servers used by Hotmail and other web-based e-mail providers. Click the Back button to set up a different e-mail account, or see other options for accessing your web-based e-mail.

My main email account is a 'Hotmail' one, and it would be really inconvenient to change it.When I exit the Wizard it says, 'You do not have any accounts configured for
sending email.

Window Mail Asked Username And Password

Jun 8, 2008

I am having problems with Windows mail all of a sudden. I am running Vista, as well as Norton antivirus. I updated my Norton this morning and then went to check my e-mail. I was asked for my username and password (that doesn't usually happen), and then it would not accept my username and password. The error message that I receive says:'-ERR mailbox for [my e-mail address] is not available', Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92. I went into Norton and changed incoming and outgoing mail from "secure" to ignored, and I restarted my computer.

Boot Configuration Data Editor Frequently Asked Questions

May 16, 2008

I copied the following from the "Boot Configuration Data Editor Frequently Asked Questions" which I found found elsewhere on the Microsoft website. Multiboot Environments. Can I install Windows Vista on a computer that already contains an operating system? Yes. You can install Windows Vista on a different partition. It is best to install Windows Vista after you install the older operating systems. Older operating systems will continue to use Boot.ini for boot configuration. Should I replace the code that used to work with Boot.ini to now use BCD on Windows Vista? No. You will need to alter your code so that it uses Boot.ini for the older operating systems, and so that it uses BCD on Windows Vista. What does "your code" mean?

If I want to install both XP & Vista on separate partitions, apparently I need to install XP first. During the XP install I have the option of creating 2 partitions don't I? It's my understanding that there can be only 1 primary partition & only the primary partition is bootable. Every other partition is an extended partition. This is what confuses me. XP uses the boot.ini file & is installed first on the primary partition. Won't Vista be installed on an extended partition? Since XP uses the boot.ini file & Vista uses the bcdedit file, which file is used if both XP & Vista are installed in a multiboot configuration? Which would be the default OS? To further complicate matters, suppose that I want to install XP, Vista & Linux. Which of the 3 do I install first since Linux uses a different boot file?

Sign Onto AOL, Crashing

Mar 25, 2009

Whenever I attempt to sign onto AOL through their software, the entire system crashes. Spyware and Antivirus scans came back negative. I tried using different versions of the AOL software but the crashing still occurred. I did a restore back to a time before the crashes started, did not work. Updated all my drivers, still no success. Everything else works just fine. I can connect to the Internet, surf with IE, download files, no problem.

I finally deleted my broadband connection, deleted the network/lan card using device manager. Restarted the computer, Vista recognizes the Lan card and automatically installs the drivers. I created a brand new connection in the Network center and tried to sign onto AOL; it finally works! Here's the kicker, though. I restart the computer just to make sure everything works and guess what? When I try to sign onto AOL, the computer crashes!

I did not make one single change between the time I successfully logged onto AOL till the time I restarted and it began crashing again. It certainly appears to be something wrong on the networking end of things, I just don't know what. It looks like the AOL software is accessing some network file/setting that then sets off the crash. Is it the card itself, the drivers, some Vista update that didn't install correctly. I am at my wits end. Short of a restore back to the factory install point, I don't know what to do.

Can't Sign On Automatically Without Constant

Jan 10, 2009

I experience the "identifying 'network'" only when I sign on automatically, yet I do have an internet connection and networking works flawlessly; when I sign on manually there's only a very brief instance of it and after that all is normal. After literally spending days on this and trying all sorts of configurations for the router I still can't avoid this issue when I set networking properties to connect automatically.

Got a late model Dell PC/Vista Home Premium 32 which connects with no problems to my AT&T dry loop DSL Siemens 4100 modem which is connected to a new Linksys WRT54GS router which is picked up by an HP laptop/Vista Ultimate 32 with BROADCOM 802.11 b/g network adapter and NVIDIA nforce networking controller. As far as router configuration goes, I have tried the following applicable settings; Automatic Configuration-DHCP, Mixed Wireless Network Mode, Wireless Channel 6, SSID Broadcast as enabled and as disabled, Security Mode as WPA Personal and as WPA2 Personal, WPA Algorithms as AES, TKIP or AES+TKIP respectively. Also I have tried various connection scenarios in Wireless Network properties. Again the bottom line is that while I do have a network and internet connection, I can't sign on automatically without the constant "identifying 'network'" issue and when I sign on manually all is well. Never worked with a router before, Linksys customer support is an absolute trip with no destination and I'm hoping someone here might give me a few clues.

Strange Remote Assistance Can't Sign

cannot log on to Windows Live messenger at all. We have done disk cleanup, deleted cookies and temp and temp internet files. I can log on to her WLM account from my machine, but all she gets is "Cannot sign you on at this time" messages. So, I though I'd try TeamViewer. Works here on my LAN, works from here to my daughter's machine 150 miles away. When she clicks on the customer exe, she gets a window up saying "No connection to the Internet" and the ID box shows the local IP and no password. I'm stumped as to what might be causing this. She can surf the internet, download files, send emails, etc etc but NOT log onto WLM or use TeamViewer.

EVERY time I open FF and go somewhere. it's not saved. I'm even having to answer secret questions and stuff on my bank. I'm not sure if this is a Vista problem, or a Fire Fox 3 Problem. Maybe I should upgrade to FF 3.3 or whatever there update is. (or it might have automatically).

Mouse Constantly Flashing A Loading Sign

Jan 11, 2010

CPU usage is normal, fluctuates between 0 and 25. The flash is super distracting. I cant figure this one out for the life of me. I don't have any viruses or rogue processes running that I can see. It does not occur in safe mode but still does even when I use game booster (IOBIT program that safely stops many running processes to use cpu power for game being played).
