I am unable to post the Error message here. Socket No, 11001 it's the same 0x800CC ..that we've been hearing about. No answers have made sense so far. My mail is a mess - old mesages are being re-sent, I occasionally get a message and occasionally can send one. Sporadic at best. My ISP does not provide support outside their own web page mail service.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI had no issues with Windows Mail as my default client and a new message window would open when I clicked mailto links. Earlier today I clicked a mailto for the first time in a week or so, and it tried to open Microsoft Outlook 2003, which is also installed on my machine, but not the default mail handler. Going into the Mozilla Firefox options, I found that for some reason it was defaulting to Outlook. I changed the setting to Windows Mail, but now instead of opening the new message window, it just opens Windows Mail.

For some reason I have to press 'POST MESSAGE' several times before it will open the message session. I thought at 1st it may have been the forum itself but went in there today and used my laptoop with Windows XP and was able to leave a message staight away. After that I am asked to sign in again to allow me to post a message. The same screen shows up repeatedly after I put in the same info I used when I started. It doesn't indicate that the password or the name is incorrect. The website was contacted for assistance. Their solution was to delete all temporary internet files which was done, but it didn't help. I am posting my question here because it is a problem with my computer, not their site. It does seem to be a bit strange that since I am signed in that I would have to sign in to post a message on the forum. A bit redundant.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhenever I start my PC, I get greeted with a message after the POST screen, in the standard DOS-type text, simply saying "GRUB" (or "GRUB GRUB"). From here, the PC becomes unresponsive, and I can only turn it off. I believe this is linked to the Grub Boot Loader I once had installed on my secondary hard drive which was installed in a different PC. However, it has only been rearing its head over the last couple of days.
I have tried the "bootrec" command from the Vista disc with the /fixmbr, /fixboot and /rebuildbcd commands. However, this has not provided me with a permanent fix. The /rebuildbcd and /scanos arguments return a message saying it found no compatible Vista installations. Vista will start with no problems, however, provided the Vista install disc is in the DVD drive. I don't need to "press any key to boot from the DVD", just having it in the drive is perfectly sufficient.
Just recently I've been having some troubles with my hard drive failing, which may or may not be related. (The first paragraph of the first post is probably the most relevant): Vista won't start. Note that I have also done a full system scan using NOD32, which found no problems. I am completely confused about this problem; I'm even more confused, though, about how the problem arose in the first place.
My mom changed her theme the other day and now there are no sounds for new messaged received, opening and closing windows, logging in or out, emptying recycle bin...etc. I've tried going into sounds and picking new ones, old ones and nothing works. In sounds where you can "test" a certain sound, nothing plays. It's not the speakers cause music plays just fine. I loaded all the windows media files into windows media player and they work so it's not that. How do I get them to play again?

However, at work I use Outlook Express and there are a few things that I like from it that I am unsure whether Windows Mail has or if I am just not finding them. The main thing is:
I colour code messages (categorise them) by descriptions I have altered them to, for example, if I select pink, this is known as 'awaiting others actions' and if I select blue this is 'Needs further attention by me' or purple meaning 'completed'. Does Windows Mail have this option anywhere at all so that I can colour my inbox messages until I have dealt with them all fully. I would be greatful for any advice about this.
I've been trying to import my outlook pst file into my Windows Mail, but I haven't been succeeded. Whenever I try to click on "File > Import > Messages... > Microsof Outlook " a pop up window appears to me warning me about a MAPI driver problem (it is not installed). I have already tried to download an Outlook 2007 trial version in order to solve this problem, but I didn't work. Does anybody know how to solve this problem? The emails I have in the pst files are very imporant and I really need to import them to Windows Mail.

I am using Windows Mail as my default mail client. After installing Office 2007 I opened Outlook 2007 for some reason and configured my mail account there. Since that time I am not able to search for mails using Vista Search. If Windows Mail is configured as standard mail application (has every standard) mails can be found, but not opened. An error message is displayed which tells me, that no standard mail client is available (in German: "Es ist kein standardm=E4=DFiger E-Mail-Client vorhanden, oder der aktuelle E-Mail-Client kann die Messaginganforderung nicht erf=FCllen..."). Then I configured Outlook as my standard mail client, which didn't solve my issue, because the message is not displayed any more, but the mail cann't be opened.

View 6 Replies View RelatedAgain. Last time this happened, everyone blamed McAfee, so I killed McAfee and installed AVG Free which is good because it is free. But now I have exactly the same symptoms:
a) Won't download load messages from the server, tries, but eventually times out
b) Happens with Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail and Outlook 2007
I've now uninstalled AVGFree re-booted and the mail client(s) still stick at "downloading measage 1 of 65" then timeout after 180 seconds. here do I look next? Webmail is fine.XP and McAfee was rock solid problem free for years - Windows Mail performance is shocking even when working properly? My son bought a new Dell laptop last month with Vista , he has ripped out Vista, installed XPSP2 (he used MY spare licence!) and he works grief free. I've been using Vista for 6 months now - is time to quit and return to XP peace and stability?Oops I'm using an Acer 5630 laptop with 2GB of RAM Vista Home Premium, Intel Core Duo 1.66G CPU. At idle Vista is grabbing just less than1GB of RAM (I've only the standard gadgets running + IM, A/V is uninstalled while I try to get eMail working again. Is it me, but isn't an O/S that needs 2GB to run a basic suite of MS office applications reasonably well, a bit out of hand?
