Contact Folder: Windows Mail Doesn't Support Folders In The Contact Area
May 31, 2008I'm very disappointed that windows mail doesn't support folders in the contact area. I hope some one from Microsoft see this and they reconsider putting a update to re add this feature. I just got this computer and already I want to send it back. I really need folders to keep my contacts sorted. Either add the option or let me download the old Outlook to install. And buying Office outlook is not a option.

Problem is there is no "New Contact Group" item on my Vista Mail toolbar when using the Windows explorer. Jan 15, 2010that her Windows Mail is really strange. I can't help her because I don't use Windows Mail so I am asking on her behalf.
a) When she opens her Contact list , the names are in alphabetical order (which is expected) .However when she composes an email and clicks on the "To" button , the name list displayed is not in alphabetical order by name but strangely ordered by email addresses. Is there a way to rearrange to resort by names?
b) When she types a name in the Address area ie in the box next to "To" , another page opens for search. Is this normal ? With Outlook ( which she used to use until she changed to a new computer running Vista) when you type the name a list of potential email addresses appear. IS there a way to fix this?
Windows Mail & Newsgroups Won't Display
Mar 23, 20082 computers, one running XP & Outlook Express shows any newsgroup posts or replies I make. The other, running Vista Home Premium and Windows Mail, won't display any of my posts or replies to threads but, others can see and reply to them and I can see my postings contained in their replies.

Only when opened the mail reveals the date. When browsing 1000 messages that is not a good way to find the one from a specific date. Is there a way to equip the list of messages as held in the Windows mail with mail dates?

Windos Mail Html Mail Display Behavour
Sep 4, 2009I run a larger Yahoo Group 1000+ and Yahoo sends html group mails to all members wherby yahoo inserts system messages and sometimes ads at a fixed right border, about 80 charactes to the right. Whilst other e-mail clients insert automatic line breaks into the mail text befor the yahoo generated blocks, Windows Mail does not, the yahoo generated blocks overlay the text, the text continues behind those blocks and continues to the right side as long as a line takes. The only way to show all of the text is to switch to text only display.
I checked all possible option settings I could find but cannot find any option which controls this in Windows mail specific html behaviour. Befor I tell my Vista Users to use Thunderbird or Outlook or other clients- is there a way to change the html behaviour?

Jul 29, 2009I had no issues with Windows Mail as my default client and a new message window would open when I clicked mailto links. Earlier today I clicked a mailto for the first time in a week or so, and it tried to open Microsoft Outlook 2003, which is also installed on my machine, but not the default mail handler. Going into the Mozilla Firefox options, I found that for some reason it was defaulting to Outlook. I changed the setting to Windows Mail, but now instead of opening the new message window, it just opens Windows Mail.
