Contact Groups In Windows Mail : Find Out Which Groups Person Belongs To

Mar 29, 2009

I have over 20 different Groups set up in my Address Book. In the good old Outlook Express Address Book, I could open a Contact and in the "Other" tab, I could see a list of all the Groups that the person belongs to. In Windows Mail Contacts. I successfully imported all my Contacts and Groups. But is there a way to find out which Groups a person belongs to? It's too time consuming to manually search through each of my 20 groups. The Help section claims that Windows Mail has all the features of Outlook Express. but the list of Groups a person belongs to is obviously
missing. show me that I can display a list of Groups for each person. I rely heavily on Groups. Just for example, if I have multiple entries for the same person (with different email addresses), I can tell which one is the most current by looking at which email address is part of a recently set up Group.

All the help screens tell me to click on the 'Contacts" icon on the toolbar and this will show an option "New Contact Group" to set up contact groups for mail. Well it does not! News Groups Mail Does Not Access

May 11, 2008

I use Outlook for my e-mails. Unfortunately, Outlook does not have access to news groups. When I go to Mail to get access to the news groups, Mail downloads all of the e-mails since I last used Mail. It may have been weeks since my last use of Mail so the list is rather long (hundreds). Is there any way to stop downloading all of these e-mails that I have already dealt with on Outlook? Why does Outlook not provide access to Newsgroups?

Mail Unable To Show Groups

In Windows Mail Contacts. I successfully imported all my Contacts and Groups. But. is there a way to find out which Groups a person belongs to? It's too time consuming to manually search through each of my 20 groups. The Help section claims that Windows Mail has all the features of Outlook Express. but the list of Groups a person belongs to is obviously missing. It looks like Microsoft is selling us a degraded product ("Address Book Minus" instead of "Address Book Plus") and is calling that an improvement!!!!

Please prove me wrong. Show me that I can display a list of Groups for each person. I rely heavily on Groups. Just for example, if I have multiple entries for the same person (with different email addresses), I can tell which one is the most current by looking at which email address is part of a recently set up Group. If Microsoft Mail is unable to show me a list of Groups for any one individual Contact, is there a way I can continue using Outlook Express under Windows Vista Ultimate x64?

Microsoft Discussion Groups

May 19, 2010

I went lurking in the Microsoft Discussion Groups. My problem is I couldn't find a category for any Microsoft Office products or Microsoft Secutrity Essentials. Maybe I didn't look long enough. If I did and there are no categories for these products here why do we need to go to a separate forum for these. Why aren't they all in the same place? Also is there a way to filter the categories so I can only be exposed to the microsoft categories?

Unable To Move Contacts To Groups...

Jan 14, 2010

I'm trying to organize and condense my Contacts by moving everyone into Groups. However, unlike OE, WM doesn't seem to allow me to move my individual contacts into groups; it only copies them, leaving me with more clutter than before. All Microsoft Usenet groups will be migrated to MS forums. Hence, Bing hopes to replace Google as the search engine of choice for Microsoft's web forums.

Program Management Groups Don't Drive Usability

Jun 26, 2008

Subject: Windows Usability Systematic degradation flame. I am quite disappointed at how Windows Usability has been going backwards and the program management groups don't drive usability issues. Let me give you my experience from yesterday. I decided to download (Moviemaker) and buy the Digital Plus pack ... so I went to Microsoft.com. They have a download place so I went there.

The first 5 times I used the site it timed out while trying to bring up the download page. Then after an 8 second delay I got it to come up. This site is so slow it is unusable. It wasn't in the top 5 so I expanded the other 45. These 45 names are totally confusing. These names make stuff like: C: Documents and SettingsillgMy DocumentsMy Pictures seem clear..............

And buying Office outlook is not a option.

Windows Mail Contact List And Email Address Order

Jan 15, 2010

that her Windows Mail is really strange. I can't help her because I don't use Windows Mail so I am asking on her behalf.

a) When she opens her Contact list , the names are in alphabetical order (which is expected) .However when she composes an email and clicks on the "To" button , the name list displayed is not in alphabetical order by name but strangely ordered by email addresses. Is there a way to rearrange to resort by names?

b) When she types a name in the Address area ie in the box next to "To" , another page opens for search. Is this normal ? With Outlook ( which she used to use until she changed to a new computer running Vista) when you type the name a list of potential email addresses appear. IS there a way to fix this?

Unable To Open Attachments In Windows Mail: Windows Cannot Find File Name

Jul 29, 2009

There are discussions on this general subject but no aparent resolution. About two months ago I was sometimes prevented from opening photo attachments on some emails received from the same party and sometimes could open them. By this I mean, I would click on the paperclip where a list of photos would appear and I'd click on on photo and I'd get a message saying: "Windows cannot find file name (photo captions used by sender).jpg. Make sure your typed the name correctly and then try again." Well, of course I didn't type the file name; the sender did. I could click on the save attachments, and once saved to a folder I could open them from the folder. I forwarded the mail to others, and they report no problems in viewing the photos. I can also view the photos in the email itself, but it would be necessary to scan up and down and from left to right to view the whold photo and the caption would not appear.
