Cannot Open Attachments In Windows Mail Or News Groups
May 7, 2009I cannot open attachments in windows mail or news groups. this Just started tonight? I can save them and view them later but not in win mail.

May 11, 2008I use Outlook for my e-mails. Unfortunately, Outlook does not have access to news groups. When I go to Mail to get access to the news groups, Mail downloads all of the e-mails since I last used Mail. It may have been weeks since my last use of Mail so the list is rather long (hundreds). Is there any way to stop downloading all of these e-mails that I have already dealt with on Outlook? Why does Outlook not provide access to Newsgroups?

In the good old Outlook Express Address Book, I could open a Contact and in the "Other" tab, I could see a list of all the Groups that the person belongs to. In Windows Mail Contacts. I successfully imported all my Contacts and Groups. But is there a way to find out which Groups a person belongs to? It's too time consuming to manually search through each of my 20 groups. The Help section claims that Windows Mail has all the features of Outlook Express. but the list of Groups a person belongs to is obviously
missing. show me that I can display a list of Groups for each person. I rely heavily on Groups. Just for example, if I have multiple entries for the same person (with different email addresses), I can tell which one is the most current by looking at which email address is part of a recently set up Group.
Could Not Connect News Server
May 11, 2008How do I set up Newsgator to get my Microsoft newsgroup stuff in Outlook 2007? I already have NewsGator plugin installed. It asks me for a server, username, and password. Would my username be my email address? What format do I use for the NNTP server? I tried microsoft.public.windows.vista.general, but it said it could not connect to the news server. "...I fail to understand why they feel the need to convince people who are happy with Vista that they are wrong. That is aside from the self-esteem issues they must have ;-)"

But, I couldn't do so in my university's news group, it only worked fine with my system installed with XP + OE! Mar 4, 2009I use Windows mail for my e-mail and news group access. When I access my comcast e-mail (where all the info is correctly entered and stored in the account setup) I have no problem. When I try to access my newsgroup (where all my info is correctly entered and stored in the account setup) a Windows Security window pops up, displays my Vista PC administrator symbol and asks me for a user name and password to access the newsgroup account. I enter the correct info and Windows Security screen will not accept it. I had never ever been asked for a user name and password by a Windows Security Pop Up before and it doesn't ask me for that info on my e-mail.

Mar 23, 2008Is there a way to set WIN MAIL so that it doesn't open a post when I connect to a server? In Outlook Express IIRC when I connected to a server it didn't open anything until I actually selected a message. WIN MAIL seems to open almost any post on the server at random. It's not the last post I read and I'm not even sure it's one that I have read in the past--it just seems pretty random. I'd just like it to sit there with the preview pane blank until I select a message. Is there any way to have that happen?

Mar 22, 2009All the help screens tell me to click on the 'Contacts" icon on the toolbar and this will show an option "New Contact Group" to set up contact groups for mail. Well it does not! I am a very long time computer user with years of experience and never had this problem with Outlook Xpress. I know how to set up groups but cannot find the path to it. I have Vista Ultimate.

Folders & Groups :but Vista Does Not Permit Me
May 4, 2008When using XP/Outlook Express (OE) I was able to sort my 250+ addresses into Folders and Folders into Groups but Vista does not permit me to do it.Folders permitted me to sort by major catagories and Groups permitted me to send bulk distribution within a Folder.If I make a Contact Group in Vista if works like Groups in XP/OE sending mass distribution from the Vista Group.Anyone know how to bring this OE capability back into Vista?

I suspect it's due to no moderation on Usenet and because Google is the search engine of choice for Windows problems, even searching through Google's groups. Hence, Bing hopes to replace Google as the search engine of choice for Microsoft's web forums.
