I can post / reply newsgroup in microsoft news group with my new system (WM + vista), just as exactly this one does. But, I couldn't do so in my university's news group, it only worked fine with my system installed with XP + OE! Is it possible for some news servers do not accept posting / reply from WM / vista (*however, i can't read the newsgroup without any problem...)
View 9 RepliesIs there a way to set WIN MAIL so that it doesn't open a post when I connect to a server? In Outlook Express IIRC when I connected to a server it didn't open anything until I actually selected a message. WIN MAIL seems to open almost any post on the server at random. It's not the last post I read and I'm not even sure it's one that I have read in the past--it just seems pretty random. I'd just like it to sit there with the preview pane blank until I select a message. Is there any way to have that happen?

Every time I open Windows Mail up, or the news groups, I get a message saying Windows mail isn't my default mail program, and asks if I want it to be. I click yes every time, but I will still get this message when I open Windows Mail again the next day. Everything's works OK after I click this message. No other errors or anything.

When I access my comcast e-mail (where all the info is correctly entered and stored in the account setup) I have no problem. When I try to access my newsgroup (where all my info is correctly entered and stored in the account setup) a Windows Security window pops up, displays my Vista PC administrator symbol and asks me for a user name and password to access the newsgroup account. I enter the correct info and Windows Security screen will not accept it. I had never ever been asked for a user name and password by a Windows Security Pop Up before and it doesn't ask me for that info on my e-mail.

View 9 Replies View RelatedIs it possible to obtain a comprehensive listing of servers and interpreters that are a normal part of the Windows Vista Operating System? These are the only kinds of programs I expect the Security updates to be fixing.
Servers = Programs included with the OS which accepts commands from the Internet or LAN external to My Computer. Interpreters = Programs which will execute any kind of source code whatsoever like HyperTextMarkUpLanguage HTML or Basic or C+ or Fortran or whatever.
I know of no other kinds of programs unless you can tell me now that may work ndependent of User Control. If I could ID these rouge programs running in the background it would be better than the security updates themselves.
I set up my email account in windows mail. No problem. My problem is that I use two different servers for mail and would like to have two different inboxes. The original email inbox is under local folders which is fine. For the second server I want a separate inbox. Is it possible to do this and if so how?

When I get to the point where it asks for my e-mail address I input this, click on next, and the message "Windows Mail no longer supports the http servers used by Hotmail.......". I remember this happened when I bought my computer but managed to get round it, but can't remember how. I have a paid subscription to Windows Live Onecare and believe this is something to do with the "paid " subscription referred to on other threads.

When using Outlook Express I set up an auto reply while i was on vacation and could never turn it off... it has nothing to do with message rules, because I deleted all rules... when i migrated to Windows Mail in Vista... the auto reply still happens... i can't find a way to turn it off...

I am not able to compose a new mail nor reply to any of the emails. as soon as i hit the reply or reply all button, the window opens up and the MS Vista windows gets busy forever, unless u click close and kill the process.
When I type a message using the Reply function and click Send, the email is greyed out, then disappears. It doesn't surface in any of the local folders.Using Create Mail works as normal.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI'm running Vista and using Windows Mail. I can recieve emails no problem and when I reply to an email it gets the recipient fine. However, if I create a new email and send it goes out of my outbox but the receipient never recieves it. I have spoken to LCN who host my email and they have run tests to hotmail, gmail and business accounts. They say the email get through to the recipient server fine but they cannot track them from there. Trying this myself I can confirm that there are not getting through to regular contacts inboxes at business and webmail accounts and they are not even going to junk mail.
They said to try changing the outgoing to my ISP SMTP details which I did but still no joy. They and my ISP have both said this is all they can do. I've turned off my anti-virus can for outgoing mails as well but still have the problem. Everything was working fine till a few days ago. When I called LCN they said my nameserver needed updating, which they did, and that it would take 24 hrs for the DNS propagation. It's now been 3 days and still the same problem. Email host and ISP say they can't help. I've checked and I'm not on a blacklist.
About a month ago, Windows mail started dropping the 1st 2 letters of the reply-to email address for all of my Yahoo contacts I deleted the contacts from my list and reentered them it still does it. I can send a new email to these people just fine but cannot use the "reply to" feature.

When I go to Mail to get access to the news groups, Mail downloads all of the e-mails since I last used Mail. It may have been weeks since my last use of Mail so the list is rather long (hundreds). Im going to sound like a Neophyte question. Why is it that this newsgroup is hijacked by this guy Keven and what ever the heck he is doing. I dont get it. Cant this news group be set up to refuse mail from this name. Im not critical really I just dont understand, with all the technology today, surely the moderator has the power to stop his eamil address. And if he creates a new one put it in. Ive neverrun a news group so I may be in the dark.
My second question is perhaps more phylisophical. I dont get what he is doing, I mean the messages are stupid. At least if they are ads for drugs I get it he is selling something but, these messages I just dont get ?? What is the point of it all. I hope Im not focusing too much attention on this I just dont get these two questions. Its amazing how one guy can be such a fool?? I flag it as spam but no one seems to do anything about it??
It seems like i entered my POP3 and SMTP correctly but at the time of sending a message it asks me to verify my username and password and when I enter it the same verification boxs pops out again. I hVE Yahoo messaging and entered pop.mail.yahoo.com and smtp.mail.yahoo.com. What am I doing wrong? Is my username my email address? Im confused now.
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to reply, reply all or forward an email either in preview or from an open email nothing happens. Message at the top (Not responding). It seems like the program freezes or there is a very long delay for the reply or forwarded email to appear. If and when it does appear, the email is blank with no text, it is still waiting for the info to load whether there is an attachment or not. When I try to x out, a new window opens giving me the option to restart the program, close or wait for windows mail to respond.
