Mail: Pop Up Window Security Box
Mar 30, 2009
I'm trying to help my husband with his mail because I'm a mac user. Out of the blue the infamous pop up windows mail security box is asking for user name and password. It has been entered over and over. Rebooted, created new email account, verified username and password with server.
No avail. Still the pop up box appears and no outgoing mail is allowed. It is mac mail address and verizon but has worked perfectly for months. Until today..... :sarc: Below is the error message: Subject' Re: Dwight Group', Account: 'mail.mac.com', Server:'smtp.vzwmail.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port 25, Secure(SSL):No, Error Number: 0x800ccc17

For some reason this window has started popping up!
Please verify that both the username and password are correct for your mail server.'
To get rid of the Window I have to enter my details and password to gain access to Windows Mail.
Any tips please on resolving this problem. I am using Vista 32 bit. ISP Tiscali. AVG email scanning incoming.

Using windows mail I can send email but cannot receive email any more. When sending and receiving begins to download emails but gets to 3 and then hangs. After a while a box then opens asking for user name and password. Then hangs for circa 10 - 20 seconds and same box then opens asking for user name and password again. If I select stop then error message arises - Account: 'pop3.demon.co.uk', Server: 'pop3.demon.co.uk', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR [IN-USE] could not lock maildrop; is there another connection active?', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC92

I just set up window mail and it works fine, but the question is why all email from yahoo (Transfer from) imported to window mail and left none in yahoo it self. I would like to know if I can transfer back to original or safe all the mail from window mail, so I can use them in other computer.

I am trying to set up my account and I have an aol email account. Aol says to use: The basic information that you need to setup using IMAP and POP3 is as follows: Your e-mail address is screenname@aol.com or screenname@aim.com. Be sure to include the @aol.com or @aim.com suffix. The incoming mail (POP) server address is: imap.aol.com and imap.aim.com for IMAP, and pop.aol.com or pop.aim.com for POP3. Check the box for leaving messages on the server. The outgoing mail (SMTP) server address is: smtp.aol.com or smtp.aim.com, port: 587. Your user name is your AOL or AIM screen name. Your password is your AOL?? or AIM?? password-------I typed all the fields up to the outgoing info. the box would no accept : smtp.aol.com, port 587.

I'm noticing some inconsistencies in quoting behaviour when choosing Reply to Group with Windows Mail. I believe I've seen some references to this elsewhere, but can't find a resolution. For example, I will read a post, where the original poster used the Google web interface to create and post his message. When I choose Reply to Group, the original post is properly quoted and all is well.
By this I mean that the previous post will have a marker, the default being >, and more are added for each level of reply. The poster replies to my reply, again using the Google interface, with proper quoting appearing for the two previous messages. But now, I choose Reply to Group again - and the text I'm immediately replying to is not quoted. Yet I notice that others using Outlook Express can reply with the quoting intact, and I can reply to them with the quoting appearing properly. Restarting Windows Mail does not resolve this.

I can send up to a 20Meg attachment from the Yahoo! site. If I send a message having a 15Meg attachment, or smaller through Windows Mail it doesn't complete uploading. I use Verizon DSL.

I store all my Outlook Express email in an external hard disk and plug and play between my office desktop and laptop when travelling.
Could I still do the same after changing to Vista since I just bought a new laptop?
If laptop is Vista and my office desktop is XP, are they still compatible?
I mean using new Window Mail in laptop but still store the mail in an external hard disk, then connect the external hard disk back to desktop in office.
Pls help and shed me light on how to do the new switching and procedure and setting.
