To get rid of the Window I have to enter my details and password to gain access to Windows Mail.
Any tips please on resolving this problem. I am using Vista 32 bit. ISP Tiscali. AVG email scanning incoming.
A few months ago, I had that lovely virus called Antivirus 2010. It got so bad that eventually, whenever I turned my Intel Pentium laptop on, the screen would just be black and there would be nothing except the virus window popping up with all the 'viruses' I had on my computer. Last night, I decided to connect my HDMI cord to the laptop and watch a few episodes of Lost with my friends. Now, the HDMI button ('F8') wasn't working properly after my little mishap a few months earlier. When I pressed it, the usual, nice little pictures of different laptop-tv settings did not appear. Instead, I tried FN+ALT+F8. This seemed to work. But after we finished, I couldn't get the screen to return to normal again. It's all fuzzy and big, as if I was still connected to the tv.
** I tried personlization, and fizing screen resolution and stuff. It made things a little better, but the screen STILL isn't the same. Funny thing though. When I use print screen, the screen looks NORMAL. This morning, I rebooted my laptop. (Probably the stupidest thing I've ever done) I thought everything would be back to normal, but the screen is still the same, the nice little extras about Vista I was missing before have not returned, and my internet connection is gone.
I'm trying to help my husband with his mail because I'm a mac user. Out of the blue the infamous pop up windows mail security box is asking for user name and password. It has been entered over and over. Rebooted, created new email account, verified username and password with server.
No avail. Still the pop up box appears and no outgoing mail is allowed. It is mac mail address and verizon but has worked perfectly for months. what is this popping up during rebooting my computer? During rebooting my computer there is windows popping up tells me that Microsoft Windows - Dashboard Module has stopped working. A program caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I have no idea why Real Player is popping up randomly. Not when I boot up from a shutdown or restart, just doing usual business on my laptop. I imagine you want me to take note when this happens, but it is really strange behavior. I thought my default player was Windows Media Player, but I could have changed that because I was having problems gettng my iPod to sync.

View 8 Replies View RelatedAbout 40% of the time when I either choose HIBERNATE or the standard SHUT DOWN, the computer just keeps on running. Although it seems WINDOW has shut down, the "ON" light is still on and I can hear the fan running. When this happens I am left with no other option but to use the "emergency shut down" method - pressing the ON button for more than 4 seconds (ASUS laptop, using Vista Home Premium). Presumably this method would damage the computer in some ways in the long run?
I assume WINDOW is shut down because the next time when I turn on the computer it doesn't say the "WINDOW is not properly shut down". So can any kind souls please help me with this annoying problem of turning off the computer completely?
Cannot reply, forward or send attachments. Have worked on this for 2 days within the Windows Mail Forum. Something is causing a delay in getting mail to the server. This appears to have something to do with security. Has anyone seen a resolution?

Unable to send mail problem was sporadic. Had Norton 2007. Took it in to tech support for service and they upgraded to 2008. At forum suggestion, deleted Norton and used the symantec utility to remove the remaining pieces. Replaced Norton with CA Suite. One person thought the Norton proxy may not be able to be removed................
ive got windows vista home premium 32, it was all running fine with McAfee internet secuiryt no problems at all, then all of a sudden my McAfee could'nt update and asked me to reinstall the software, so i uninstalled it all and tried to reinstall it, but when i started to it came up with download error 12029. after looking around people said i might have a virus or spyware, downloaded malwherebytes and removed the viruses and spyware, then downloaded AVG free version and did another scan it found more stuff which now it has removed, i then ran another scan and it says the computer is clean. now other problems are occuring
1. still getting the download error from mcafee (ive also used the removal tool and preinstall from there site)
2. window won't update, just keep getting errors
3. windows defender won't turn on
4. some programs update and some won't
I moved my computer (Vista Business x32) from a domain (no longer available) to my work group. My domain account had local admin privileges on the machine so I was able to move the machine from the domain to the local work group (domain, admin, domain admin account are all gone). However, I forgot to create a local machine account before I rebooted and now I can't log in at all.I can log in or would I need to reinstall the OS?

Up until yesterday everything has been working fine for the past month since I built a new system. Now all of a sudden my computer is crashing on me. No BSOD. Just shuts down and reboots. Looking in my events log all I can see occuring at the times of the crashes is this information: Code integrity determined that the image hash of a file is not valid. The file could be corrupt due to unauthorized modification or the invalid hash could indicate a potential disk device error.

I don't use windows firewall as I use the firewall built into Trend Micro Internet Security 2008. Checking though that programs logs shows nothing happening at the time of the crashes. After googling this and looking on Microsoft's site I am stumped at what I can do to resolve this. I do have windows updates on automatic and I recall an update occuring 2 days ago.
