my yahoo messenger keeps popping up on the monitor. I close it but shortly it pops up again. Kind of annoying. It never did this before just the last couple of days. I've had it on my computer for a long time and no problems before.
View 4 RepliesI added a second monitor to the GeForce 7100 GS using a DVI-VGA adapter and for the life of me cannot get it to display anything, the monitor is just in sleep mode. I've got the latest driver, Windows is up to date, checked the cables, tried another adapter, tried everything but, still nothing. The second monitor shows up in the device manager and in the Nvidia control panel. It's enabled and set to extend desktops. It seems the system knows it's there because I can move the mouse over, but cannot see anything. The power light on the second monitor just flashes. I've swapped monitors over, to make sure there's not a problem with the display and it's fine. When I do that, the main monitor is then plugged in to the DVI adapter and then that one goes to sleep. Just seems whichever monitor is plugged in to the DVI-VGA adapter just doesn't want to work........
View 9 Replies View Relatedi have only one monitor, and somehow it is being treat as though its the secondary monitor in a dual monitor set up. i cannot view my start menu, or view any programs being opened, as when i try to open them, they presumeably open on the phantom primary monitor. even when i try to open display settings, i cannot see the box. i am able to move my mouse to the left border of the screen and move it off into oblivion, and occasionally drag random folders and short cuts over to view.

I keep all my sidebar gadgets to the other monitor so I can monitor temps and system diagnostics. Today, my sidebar is on my main monitor and no mater what I do it won't go back to monitor-2, no mater what the setting is in the sidebar properties. What is going on here?

I am having a persistent, but intermittent problem with a reminder screen popping up with say 150 or more 'reminders'. All of which are overdue, and none of which were actually set as I do not set them. It pretty much locks up outlook, I click on dismiss repeatedly and it keeps coming up. Office version 2007.

I have no idea why Real Player is popping up randomly. Not when I boot up from a shutdown or restart, just doing usual business on my laptop. I imagine you want me to take note when this happens, but it is really strange behavior. I thought my default player was Windows Media Player, but I could have changed that because I was having problems gettng my iPod to sync.

If I press tab, it gives me the option to get into windows memory diagnostic. How do I disable all of this to boot straight into vista without having to press enter? this is vista home. Last night, I decided to connect my HDMI cord to the laptop and watch a few episodes of Lost with my friends. Now, the HDMI button ('F8') wasn't working properly after my little mishap a few months earlier. When I pressed it, the usual, nice little pictures of different laptop-tv settings did not appear. Instead, I tried FN+ALT+F8. This seemed to work. But after we finished, I couldn't get the screen to return to normal again. It's all fuzzy and big, as if I was still connected to the tv.
** I tried personlization, and fizing screen resolution and stuff. It made things a little better, but the screen STILL isn't the same. Funny thing though. When I use print screen, the screen looks NORMAL. This morning, I rebooted my laptop. (Probably the stupidest thing I've ever done) I thought everything would be back to normal, but the screen is still the same, the nice little extras about Vista I was missing before have not returned, and my internet connection is gone.
I have just been reading previous solutions to this problem and understand it is to do with HP. Unfortunately I do not have a disc to insert as I have changed from XP to Vista and the CD I received with my HP printer is for XP, I therefore downloaded the install of the printer from the HP website for Vista. Everything was working fine just 3 days ago. I don't have a clue. Sound is turned up on my volume control and turned up on the mixer under the msn messenger. my sound card is an IDT High Definition Audio CODEC. I'm using the built in mic and cam on a Sony Viao VGN-AR670E laptop. I believe that is the correct information. More specs if necessary are listed in my profile.

It will go almost all the way thru the download and install process, then stops. The error message says that it is not a WIN32 program. I have searched everywhere for an answer, but can't find one. View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen ever I first sign in, whenever I open an IM window or get an IM, whenever I do anything in Live Messenger it freezes for like 20 seconds and then I can use it. After it freezes it won't freeze again until I come back into it. So if I minimize it or open Firefox or IE and then come back, it freezes for like 20 seconds again.
Why is it doing this? I have no idea why... it just does. It did it even before my last format of my HD. I run Vista Ultimate SP1 with all available updates before SP2 including most optional updates except for Dreamscene, sound schemes, and extra games. Also, I have used Windows to delete games and printer services since I never play the games and do not use a printer. I run the latest version of Live Messenger and have NOT modded it or used any sort of cracks on it. I read on another forum that there's a crack for it that does something and it can cause this, just wanted to make it clear that this is the original version from the website.
