Explorer Window Showing Different Filenames Than The Command Line Window
Mar 25, 2008Can anyone explain this: 3219. The screenshot shows the folder view (in Windows Explorer), and a directory listing (in a Command Line window). Why is the Explorer window showing different filenames than the command line window? It's not so much of an issue, as I'm currently completing a scheduled backup of this drive using Nero Burning ROM, and will be formatting it soon.

Sep 4, 2009I run a larger Yahoo Group 1000+ and Yahoo sends html group mails to all members wherby yahoo inserts system messages and sometimes ads at a fixed right border, about 80 charactes to the right. Whilst other e-mail clients insert automatic line breaks into the mail text befor the yahoo generated blocks, Windows Mail does not, the yahoo generated blocks overlay the text, the text continues behind those blocks and continues to the right side as long as a line takes. The only way to show all of the text is to switch to text only display.
I checked all possible option settings I could find but cannot find any option which controls this in Windows mail specific html behaviour. Befor I tell my Vista Users to use Thunderbird or Outlook or other clients- is there a way to change the html behaviour?
Window's ReadyBoost Isn't Showing Up

I have all the requirements, updates etc, and im using a microSD chip that should work with it. i have a friend with the same computer (Gateway p-7811fx) and he uses the exact same chip and it gives him the option.

Problem: Sometimes when I opened a music attachment from my WLM, Media Player would not show up, although music would come on. I had to open the Media Player manually. When that happened, I had to re-start the computer, and everything would be normal again. Note: default program settings had not been changed.

I have followed the help instructions as I wanted to change the font to another style, colour etc. However 'Help' tells you to format your signature in a WP package and save in html format. Easy, I thought! In Word 2007 when you try to Save As - the html option si not in the drop down menu. so i tried in Wordpad, no luck ther either. how I save to html in vista? I had no problems in W.XP. Wish I had not had to change!

Apr 4, 2009The problem comes from trying to install new applications i.e. firefox, winrar, and utorrent, are just a few that we have tried to install. The same error keeps occurring, it will automatically come to the error window stating that the program "has stopped working" and proceeds to search for a solution. So far I have run the program as an administrator, compatibility mode, and have tried searching the even id #1000 on the windows support forums. Also it is the same exception code every time occurring from application error 0xc0000005.

Apr 11, 2010Bought a Toshiba Satellite A100 from ebay with a cracked screen. I changed the screen yesterday, and the laptop worked well with no problems. Then today I decided to do a fresh installation of Vista because of all the previous owner had the hard drive in a bit of a mess. I installed using my normal Vista Anytime Upgrade disk and as soon as it finished installing I started getting all these messages like "Windows Modules installer has stopped working", "Desktop Window Manager has stopped working" and "TFncKy has stopped working". Things I've tried include reinstalling Vista from another disk. Using a different hard drive, changed the ram, installed all the proper drivers, installed vista updates (won't let me install SP1), staring at it menacingly & banging my head off the desk.

Last night, I decided to connect my HDMI cord to the laptop and watch a few episodes of Lost with my friends. Now, the HDMI button ('F8') wasn't working properly after my little mishap a few months earlier. When I pressed it, the usual, nice little pictures of different laptop-tv settings did not appear. Instead, I tried FN+ALT+F8. This seemed to work. But after we finished, I couldn't get the screen to return to normal again. It's all fuzzy and big, as if I was still connected to the tv.
** I tried personlization, and fizing screen resolution and stuff. It made things a little better, but the screen STILL isn't the same. Funny thing though. When I use print screen, the screen looks NORMAL. This morning, I rebooted my laptop. (Probably the stupidest thing I've ever done) I thought everything would be back to normal, but the screen is still the same, the nice little extras about Vista I was missing before have not returned, and my internet connection is gone.

Jul 2, 2008Vista Business, windows mail. Problem receiving. Receive hangs on one of the messages. I now have a number of messages received mulitple times, Windows mail then gets to 'receiving message 7 of (currently) 21, and hangs. Sometime I get an error saying that the server has timed out. (No response for a minute) Was Perfectly OK last week. (and for a few weeks since getting my new laptop with Norton!)
it downloads the first 6 messages, gets stuck and times out on the 7th, with or without Norton. And of course, since it gets stuck, doesn't clear from the server, which is why the first six keep coming down. I think I am now on SP1, have uninstalled Norton to no effect. I think the problem mail has an Access attachment about 2 meg in size. Anyway, was OK last week, not now. receive is from oneandone, send from either oneandone or eclipse makes no difference.
