I still have this problem now and then. Not all the time. I am using WLM. Problem: Sometimes when I opened a music attachment from my WLM, Media Player would not show up, although music would come on. I had to open the Media Player manually. When that happened, I had to re-start the computer, and everything would be normal again. Note: default program settings had not been changed.
when I opened the music attachment from an e-mail, the Media Player will also appeared, automatically. Today, not anymore. Still have sound, but no Media Player window, not unless I opened it manually.
Im having problems with Windows Media player 11. Basically, when I select a album or list of songs to play, they are nto shown anywhere within Windows Media Player 11. The only thing I see is a blank screen when i open WMP11, and when i play songs I just get the visualisation - no album informtation or anything. How can I resolve this issue. I have been through every option I can think of but can't find anything.
Just reinstalled Vista (32) Untimate. Was haveing trouble installing SP1 and needed to get rid of a lot of junk so did a complete new install. Now WMP 11 will not play. Get a msg that says the following "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Get this msg when trying to play MP3, WMA and WMV's. Worked fine before reinstall. I tried ripping a track and it worked fine but after ripping would not play the file - rip both to MP3 and WMA. Downloaded Winamp and it works fine and plays all the files.
wmp stopped working. here is my problem info .. Problem signature Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: wmplayer.exe Application Version: 11.0.6001.7000...................
When I try to play a video at itv.com or virginradio.co.uk, all I get is the downloading bar and to close the window I have to kill it in task manager. Similarly for audio at capitalradio.com.
Whenever I click any wmplayer playable files I get a popup saying: "C:Program FilesWindows Media Playerwmplayer.exe" "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." Tried deleting and restoring files, changing permissions, taking ownership, downloading windows media player 11. Whenever I try right clicking the shortcuts that explorer window freezes. Tried installing old version too, with no success. my pc is virus and malware free I even am the adimstrator
I am not able to view picture in a video on Windows media player 11 and Vlc Media player. I am trying every thing out, but nothing works. I have a new Sony Vaio-VGN FZ21Z
Can anyone explain this: 3219. The screenshot shows the folder view (in Windows Explorer), and a directory listing (in a Command Line window). Why is the Explorer window showing different filenames than the command line window? It's not so much of an issue, as I'm currently completing a scheduled backup of this drive using Nero Burning ROM, and will be formatting it soon.
I'm new to vista and i'm just wondering...just media center require media player to work? If not is it possible to remove wmp11? On that note, is it also possible to remove IE7? As I am a devoted Firefox user
i'm trying to figure out why Window's ReadyBoost isn't showing up in my Autoplay options. I have all the requirements, updates etc, and im using a microSD chip that should work with it. i have a friend with the same computer (Gateway p-7811fx) and he uses the exact same chip and it gives him the option.
I cannot now open any wav file with Medic Player. The shortcut on the start menu does not start Media Player. If I go to the directory that contains the media player exe files and click on any one of them (e.go. wmplayer.exe, wmlaunch.exe, wmpshare.exe, morph.exe etc. ).nothing happens. Also I recently noticed that email containing Power Point formats do not open.
I don't know if they are related but a couple of weeks ago I down loaded from the Microsoft site programs for reading the newer versions of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.
I have tried to find the Media Player software on the Microsoft site thinking I could reinstall it but all I can find is updates to it. I don't even know what version of Media Players I have. I am using Vista, with all current patches.
For some reason my Windows Mail has stopped showing html. As late as 5PM this evening I was able to see stationery posts , but now all I get is text.=20...
I like using Media Player 11 for Vista, but currently every time I try to open up the Media Player, I see the Hour glass, it goes away, and nothing opens.
Windows media player stopped opening and I was wondering what the hell was wrong with it. It won't let me try to reinstall, it says I already have most recent version.
We have a security camera that takes a short video when motion activated. The file is then emailed to the tech guys. I cannot view the video. It opens Windows Media player and then just sits there with a blank screen. I can use XP and the file plays just fine, just not on my Ultimate computer.
First of all I'm on vista home basic, second of all wmp was already installed on my pc when I received it. Lastly, it's always had this problem When I click on a mp3/avi/any wmp associated file it will launch the file audio, I can hear it BUT wmp doesn't open, I have to manually launch wmp before I can stop the file or do anything else.
I googled the problem many times and tried solutions but never got anywhere. I reset the assiociated files, I've checked for updates , I've run out of ideas. I was even going to unistall and reinstall it. Yet I can't seem to get a vista version from the microsoft webpage ?! So I don't want to uninstall it and loose it, or even try using wmp 10 instead, I'm worried it will mess up my machines default settings and/or media center!
Each time I put an audio CD into the cd drive Window Media Player comes alive and starts to play it. Many times I just want to rip the CD onto my MP3 player with software that comes with the MP3 player. I'll even have the ripping software loaded and ready to view the first Cd into the drive but Media Player still jumps ion over everything and starts playing the Cd. Is there some way I can make Media player just stay still until I want it and launch it myself?
I got the following message when playing DVDs on Vista home premium with Windows Media Player. The same problem happens to media center. Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with digital copy protection between your DVD drive, decoder, and video card. Try installing an updated driver for your video card. I can play those DVDs on PowerDVD or VLC player. I installed K-Lite codec. It still doesn't work. It looks like it is not codec problem.
I am unable to open WMP 11 and only get the options to close program or search for answers and close. Is there a way of reinstalling WMP 11 or repairing it?

All of the issues with IE7 crashing, Media Player Crashing, I am going to attribute to the ASUS P5N32 E SLI motherboard I was using. It just blue screened and died 2 days ago after forcing me to re-activate a 3rd time with the same board.
I have a Builders OEM of Ultimate 32 bit. My biggest problem is will my copy of Vista still be valid for a change out? I tried ASUS for the first time in 12 years instead of Intel. That would seem to have settled my curiosity for good. The board didn't even last 6 months on stock settings and normal to low use............
When I attempt to open media player or open a media file WMP11 fails to start, no error messages or anything in the event log. So far the only option appears to be available is to reinstall Vista, this is ridiculous as a fix I would rather install a third party media player.
i can't get media player to play dvd's it tells me to ''lower my resolution'' which is set at 1680 x 1050. i do this and nothing i take the resolution all the way to 800x600 and nothing gives me the same message so i surmized that their was another problem. I recently just upgraded my motherboard and ram and ended up having to rebuy vista as my computer was previously factory built.
I have been trying to rip the music from a CD with media player. The CD has 27 songs, I was able to get the 1st 11, but on each of the rest it says ripping for about 10 - 15 minutes, then it says error and moves on to the next song. There is no explanation as to what the error is. I have tried rebooting and starting over with the unripped songs but they still will not rip. Would this work better with media center?
Hbj2IHA.4004@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl> I recently bought a new Compaq Presario with Vista for my wife. I transferred some mpg files to it from this computer (XP) and tried to play them. A 9 minute file screeches through in about one second with only a weird audio noise like a robot talking into a tin can, and no video at all. So I installed GomPlayer on her computer and it plays the files perfectly. What do I need to do to get Media Player to play mpg files??
One some of our computers we havea problem with media player 11. Sometimes starting a video it won't show the footage cause media player is already running in the background also sometimes when we quit the program it keeps on playing the sound. Only way to pass the problems is killing media player in the taskmanager. It's very annoying. Anyway to fix this?
Media player stops playing CDs exactly 1 minute and 3 seconds in. It says: Windows Media Player cannot read the CD. The disc might be dirty or damaged. Turn on Error correction, and then try again. I've turned on error correction, it didn't help
