my media player stops working every tiem i open up the video.
View 4 Replies View RelatedSuddenly media player just won't launch, even with run as administrator. I tried downloading media player for vista but it won't install saying there is already a Newer (?) version on the computer. So I tried uninstalling the existing version but it doesn't even show on the list of programs for uninstall. Not sure where to turn. This happened once before but a reboot fixed it.

I can't track down the correct files at the MS site to reinstall, and I'd rather not use System Restore since I'm not sure how far back to go or how many things would be undone.
i open windows media player and putsomething to play, a small windows pops up and says that windows mediaplayer has stopped working and it says its looking for a solution. After a while it says " a problem caused this program to stop working correctly, Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." then it closes the program with my consent. This never happened to me on my xp pc which had WMP 11. This is happening on my new vista pc that's just a few days out of the box and i even have full norton anti-virus protection. So is there any way to fix this problem or do i have to use some other program?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI also have a network sharing service problem - Vista displays, occasion (and I havent worked out WHAT occasions yet): "windows media player network sharing service stopped working and was closed" - followed by some bulls£$t about windows informing me of a solution when it becomes available. This pop up appears relentlessly - about once every 30 seconds, and i can see the system performance hitting 100% CPU for 5 seconds or so each time it does.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI still have this problem now and then. Not all the time. I am using WLM. Problem: Sometimes when I opened a music attachment from my WLM, Media Player would not show up, although music would come on. I had to open the Media Player manually. When that happened, I had to re-start the computer, and everything would be normal again. Note: default program settings had not been changed.
View 8 Replies View RelatedIm having problems with Windows Media player 11. Basically, when I select a album or list of songs to play, they are nto shown anywhere within Windows Media Player 11. The only thing I see is a blank screen when i open WMP11, and when i play songs I just get the visualisation - no album informtation or anything. How can I resolve this issue. View 9 Replies View RelatedJust reinstalled Vista (32) Untimate. Was haveing trouble installing SP1 and needed to get rid of a lot of junk so did a complete new install. Now WMP 11 will not play. Get a msg that says the following "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." Get this msg when trying to play MP3, WMA and WMV's. Worked fine before reinstall. I tried ripping a track and it worked fine but after ripping would not play the file - rip both to MP3 and WMA. Downloaded Winamp and it works fine and plays all the files.

View 4 Replies View Relatedlately my Media Player stopped playing DivX/XVid files. Prior to that I've installed PowerDVD in order to play a VOB file on my Vista machine. I think it is since then that the Media Player stopped functioning properly. Now I can play WMV/MP3 etc but not AVI. I've removed PowerDVD now; reinstalled DivX pack; reinstalled XVid codecs. Still no use.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI recently did a system re-build, as per my specs. I've been having awful crackling and sound stutters which sometimes appear to be causing lag spikes in games too. (Having said that, I get it even when doing simple taks like listening to music or watching movies on iTunes/Windows Media Player.) I've done all the usual things like updating to the latest BIOS/drivers, but still it won't go away. I've moved the sound card to another PCI slot and checked there's no IRQ conflicts too...
View 3 Replies View RelatedThe problem comes from trying to install new applications i.e. firefox, winrar, and utorrent, are just a few that we have tried to install. The same error keeps occurring, it will automatically come to the error window stating that the program "has stopped working" and proceeds to search for a solution. So far I have run the program as an administrator, compatibility mode, and have tried searching the even id #1000 on the windows support forums. Also it is the same exception code every time occurring from application error 0xc0000005.
