Mar 23, 2008I have recently added another identity to my server and was told to put the incoming pop3 as pop3.xtra.co.nz port 995 and the outgoing SMTP as send.xtra.co.nz (use 554?) port 465 and enable SMTP server authentication. I put the pop3 and SMTP info in and forgot to enter the different ports, voila i got my mail but couldnt send any. So i went in and put the ports in, voila couldnt send or receive. Have put the ports back to default and now get my mail again but when i send get this message: The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: Welcome to Snapfish', Account: 'pop3.xtra.co.nz (1)', Server: 'send.xtra.co.nz', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Dec 27, 2009I'm a Windows Vista Ulitimate 32 user since 2008. I've always updated the system using "Windows Update" but since two weeks ago, the system jut don't show the list of updates available. It tells me I have new updates (system tray icon) but when I open it, I cant see nothing. Here is the printscreen: The gray background is just my personal configuration... So, I can see I have 41 optional updates, for example, but there is no list of them! quite strange.

Mar 11, 2009I have some mpg files that I have burned to dvd and deleted from the folder. When I do a search for *.mpg those files show up in the search window. Then when I go to delete those from the search window, I get an error "Item could not be found". The files are actually gone, but shows up in the search window and cannot be removed. Are these tags or what? How can this be cleaned up.

Jan 12, 2009I'm running a laptop with Vista Home Premium, and just recently some of my folders like My Computer and other various folders are opening yet show a blank window, like literally blank. There's not even a URL there, just a blank window. I played around with some registry values (which I shouldn't have) and I believe that's the cause of this problem. Also, when i try to delete some of the files inside folders that manage to open before they crash, the delete prompt stalls at 0. Explorer.exe also seems to have multiple holds on single processes. how get my comp back to shape! (Ps. Did like 3 system restores and a virus scan with no results)

Mar 23, 2008I use a Vista Business OS installed but am unable to see thumbnail preview in my taskbar. When I check the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties it shows as greyed but deselected and I have not found a way to enable this option. Similarly under Notification Area Tab the Power option inder System Icons also is greyed and deselected. Can anyone tell me how to select this 'Show Window previews (thumbnails)' and 'Power' options.

May 19, 2008I'm trying to network my new Optiplex 740 with Vista Business (32bit), and Norton 360, to my old Euro PC with W2K Pro. and SystemWorks, using basic Belkin /Realtek cards and yellow ethernet cable. My broadband connection is through my old machine and works perfectly, as does the network card installation.
My new machine also indicates that its card is correctly installed and functioning correctly. BUT the Network and Sharing Center window shows this computer as linked to an Unidentified network and no connection to either the other computer or broadband connection.........

Mar 25, 2008I have over 20 different Groups set up. In the good old Outlook Express Address Book, I could open a Contact and in the "Other" tab. I could see a list of all the Groups that the person belongs to. In Windows Mail Contacts. I successfully imported all my Contacts and Groups. But. is there a way to find out which Groups a person belongs to? It's too time consuming to manually search through each of my 20 groups. The Help section claims that Windows Mail has all the features of Outlook Express. but the list of Groups a person belongs to is obviously missing. It looks like Microsoft is selling us a degraded product ("Address Book Minus" instead of "Address Book Plus") and is calling that an improvement!!!!
Please prove me wrong. Show me that I can display a list of Groups for each person. I rely heavily on Groups. Just for example, if I have multiple entries for the same person (with different email addresses), I can tell which one is the most current by looking at which email address is part of a recently set up Group. If Microsoft Mail is unable to show me a list of Groups for any one individual Contact, is there a way I can continue using Outlook Express under Windows Vista Ultimate x64?
