Suppressing Mail Server Security Certifcate Warning

Jul 2, 2008

I am experiencing is related to the lack of a security certificate for an email server from which I am receiving mail with Windows Live Mail. I want to know if there is a way I can suppress the warning message I receive from Windows Live Mail every time I start the application, or I can otherwise tell the program that this is a trusted server even though there is no certificate. Since I can simply dismiss the warning each time and receive mail I am looking for an automated way, short of requiring this server to install a certificate, to indicate to Windows Live Mail that this is a trusted server.

Windows Security Log-In - XP To Vista

Mar 29, 2008

Seen lots on this - have tried to follow advice and even uninstalled McAfee and recreated mail account from scratch on Windows Mail - still no luck - still get the windows security prompt. Cannot download or send any emails. V. frustrating - especially when going through the risk of unistalling protection (which came pre-installed).

Is there a published document from Microsoft on this problem? Some definitive, clear, step-by-step advice for those who simply want to transfer from XP to Vista wihtout these unexpected, business damaging issues.

When I opened the Security Center Alert it was indicating that my firewall was off and also that it could not detect any anti-virus software on the computer. The computer came with McAfee Security Center and when I open that it indicates that I'm totally protected. It of course has a firewall and anti-virus, etc.

Why Am I Suddenly Getting The Windows Security Alert

Jun 28, 2009

I have Vista Home Premium/2GB RAM/Core 2 duo I got this security alert today when I booted. When I open Windows Security Center it shows the problem that Windows Defender and Spyware Doctor are both turned off. That's as it should be and as it has always been. I have BitDefender Internet Security 2009 and it shows "No issue affects your
computer."

I used an elevated command to check that WMI and it shows as consistent. So
why did this alert suddenly start showing up?

I know I can turn the alerts off, but I'd much rather find out what caused
this problem and fix it.

Even my Norton antivirus software were disabled and the system won't allow to install again. Is this cause by a virus? If so is there a free program in Microsoft web site to remove it. Norton or McAfee said they can remove the malware for a fee ($100.00) even though I am using their software. Or I have to format the computer and reinstall everything. Can someone out there went through the similar problem please share your exprience and solution?

Windows Security, Logon To POP.EAST.COX.NET

Mar 27, 2008

Bought a Toshiba laptop 10 months ago and everything worked fine. With MS updates (only downloaded defender and Vista related items) things started to happen. Have worked through every problem except can not recieve emails. (Can send with no problem.) Have Cox internet and they determined I can recieve emails through their website so it is Vista interference. Spent two hours yesterday with Toshiba tech service trying to isolate and repair problem. Was not successful.

The problem is this: When Windows mail comes up, or when I hit send and receive, I get a box that says "Windows Security, Logon to POP.EAST.COX.NET" and the appropraite places to put in my Username and Password. When this is done, It just comes back with the same Windows Security box. The Toshiba Rep tried numerous things with accounts and the usual settings, changing passwords, setting up a new account and trying to use that and all resulted in the same "Windows Security" box. He feels that there is something in Windows Security that is out of whack and said to try to delete that program but could not find it to delete it. (I have router so no firewall is not a problem and AVG antivirus.)
