I've recently install a tv tuner card in my pc running on windows xp sp2.while it recieves the cable signal properly but the screen is continuosly shaking and vibrating all the time.why this occures ,is it the problem of the tv tuner card or my pc?
This problem just came out of no where today. i installed a TV tuner card, cinema 4D (3d render program) And i think i formatted a HDD (40gig) as well. but overall my computer is being much slower that it ever has.
My OS is win XP MCE 2005, recently re-installed following crash. Problem: Cannot access any MCE TV capabilities, as i get message from MCE settings: "Tuner card not found...." Can play DVD's however. OEM Tuner card is ATI Theater 550 Pro. Not recognized in device manager. Have downloaded & installed driver for this tuner. Have spent hours online looking for solution. Also, noticed I am missing both "Media Center Scheduler Service" & "Media Center Receiver Service" from my services directory, and think this may be related to problem. Any thoughts overall on how to fix, and specifically, how to restore both of these missing services files?
Firstly I have a pc which I installed Win XP Prof onto. All worked great. Then took out modem card and replaced with ethernet card. Again no problem. However, when I went to boot the compute up a week or so later it went through the boot process and then just before I would expect to see the Windows logo with blue sky background appear I "sometimes" get a blue screen flash up with a message which you cant read unless you can slow down time and then the PC restarts and goes through the whole procedure again. I did manage to start in Boot logging mode and watch to see where the problem was. It seemed to be something to do with the Display adaptor. I found the appropriate solution on the web and although I now get further on into the boot, it still restarts. When i try to run the logging thing (!) it does not want to play any more and just boots in the normal fashion. I have tried defaulting the BIOS, checking the file system for damaged sectors etc all to no avail.
i recently have done a reinstall of windows xp but the system cannot seem to be able to find the systems video card drivers and i have checked on the properties under adapters and the whole list says n/a so i have no way of find out what drivers i need to download. I have an emachines 5250 if that is any use.
so my Radeon Sapphire X1600 Pro (256MB) crapped out on me mainly the video feed. So I purchased a new one didn't really look at it very well but its a Geforce 7300GT 512MB and when I install the latest drivers and promptly restart the computer it freezes on the Windows is now loading screen.
Now I have 1 guess as towhy its doing this is insufficient RAM but I'm not sure.
using windows xp with no problem til this morning. computer normal til shut down then returned a short while later. both edges have wavy lines with black showing plus screen is blurry. monitor is about 6-7 years old while computer about 3years. feel like been on all night drunk looking at screen with a drop of booze.

I have no idea what my sister and her friends were doing on the comp for a couple of days that i decided not to use it, but now:a few programs take forever to load or don't load at all, but they do show up under the processes tab in the task manager - after pressing Ctrl Alt Del, the task manager icon appears in the system tray, but the thing only shows up a minute later - my system recovery is "not able to protect my computer," and restarting does nothing - actually, when restarting or shutting down Windows, it stops at where it only shows my desktop background and cursor [which is still able to move] and nothing else after that, so i have to hold the power button and force it to shut off - when I right click the desktop and click on "Properties..." [or something similar to this action] it doesn't show up at all, and whenever I try to open any application after that, they don't even load at all either
when I was formatting his pc (for win xp) through bootable cd i formatted his C drive keeping xp cd in drive, later i came to know his drive dsn't read cd properly and unable to complete installation, he dnt have floppy drive. I can't get the streaming videos to work when viewing pages from the internet. I have installed QuickTime 7.0.3. Instead of seeing the videos, a faded QuickTime symbol with a question mark appears. I am assuming that there is a plug-in problem, but can't seem to get it to work. I tried reinstalling Macromedia Flash as well, but it does not install properly. I get an error message asking me to make sure I am connected to the internet, when I already am.
I would like to know why certain web pages cannot display properly, especially the images. They tend to appear as 'x' and it won't show even I right click on 'show picture'.May I know how to configure my setting in order to solve this problem?I am running on windows XP.
After installing the software (which he has now uninstalled) that came with his new Canon camera. When he opens a folder of pictures (all jpgs) and his display default is set to "Thumbnails", he gets SMALL images (but not quite as small as "icons.") It also is VERY slow to display the images. If he changes the display to anything except thumbnail and then back to thumbnail, he gets the proper thumbnail size on all pics. If he just double clicks on the small image to open it and then closes it, all the images in the folder change to the correct thumbnail size.

Right after my computer is finishes booting, suddenly there's a prompt telling me that Internet Explorer wants to change my Internet Protection settings. Then it asks me if I want to give IE permission to change these settings. Of course not (I think?). And the problem is still there. I connect with Verizon DSL, but when I go on Internet Explorer, the browser doesn't work properly- it says "Web Page Unavavailable While Offline"- what's up with that?! I even checked the status of my connnection- "Connected"! It's just retarded.
In need of some major help, whenever i load up my computer everything loads up fine untill i get to the status bar screen which just loops and loops over and over again and nothing happens from that point onwards not only that but it knocks out all my devices i.e keyboard, mouse etc. I can open it in safe mode no problem and in this i have done numerous system restores. If i leave my computer off or idle for about 12 hours it worls again after that but about 2-4 days later the problem happens again this has happened aprox 7 times now. I really need someones help as this is my main computer and i have everything on it
XP PRO, sp3: Was working on a friend's computer. Slaved his hard drive to my system. I put in Windows CD and hit Enter to repair an existing installation. I decided to give it a run, so I started the repair process. And of course, as soon as I did, I realized I was on the WRONG INSTALLATION (mine, which was working - not my friend's)! The operation hadn't yet started - at least according to the progress bar - and the screen said something like, "Setup is loading" or "Setup is preparing" or something like that.
I suddenly encountered a problem yesterday. Alot of images/icons wouldn't display properly. When i try to play a video it starts flashes green stripes every 0,4 second(rough estimate) . After reading a bit on these forums. The most probably conclusion was that there was a problem with my graphics card. Is there anything else that could have caused this?
i'm using window's xp. whenever i start my i-tunes program, i get an error message telling me "i-tunes has detected a problem with your audio configuration. audio/video lpayback may not work properly." at this point, i no songs will play, and the sound doesn't come through the speakers when i'm watching any videos on the web either. Every once and a while, my monitor will flicker, then power down, leaving me with no choice but to manually shut the pc down. in addition, the desktop and browser graphics have begun to deteriorate. they almost look like somethign from windows 95. i have no idea where to start,
There was recently a power surge in my nieghborhood and it effected my computer. My hard drive and internet card were fried completely. When I disassembled my computer we found that the heating fan on my graphics card had broken, keep in mine the graphics card had worked perfectly fine. Also i do not use any games on my computer so the card does not undergo vigorous use. We bought the new parts and i restarted the brandnew clean hard drive and i went on the internet and did a search on google to find that when i scrolled down it moved in bars rather than a smooth flowing motion and when i minimized the screen and moved it around it lagged around quite a bit. ...
and I have no idea how to fix it. I checked the display settings but everything is how it's supposed to be. And I don't think it's a video card problem; I have a ATI card to watch tv and the tv works just fine.
Any idea what could be causing this and how to fix it?
All of a sudden my Dell laptop (just over a year old, go figure) has started acting funny. Here's some of the issues that started happening all of a sudden -It runs super slow at times and freezing up, svchost.exe seems to be taking a lot of resources up when that's happening -The memory card reader doesn't work. It makes the noise that a new device has been recognized when I put one it, but it never shows up in My Computer. The memory card reader does appear to be working properly in device manager. -Both firefox and IE aren't loading some sites. I'm connected to the internet and some sites load just fine and others never seem to load- and it's not that the site is down. The list of sites I can't access I'm starting to discover is big, and which sites can be access and which ones can't doesn't seem to follow any pattern- I can access google & gmail, but it won't perform a search (either from the page or from the search toolbar in both IE and firefox). I can access and log into my banking sites, ebay, and other random sites (some secure, some not). But I can't access weather.com, the Neosmart forums, the Dell community forums, dell.com, and others. I can access facebook.com, but I can't log on.
My first thought was I have some type of spyware even though I'm very good about not downloading stuff so I ran a ad-aware scan and it came up with nothing. I also ran a hijackthis scan and everything was normal there too. I'd been noticing recently that some windows processes in task manager are using what seemed like a large amount of memory. I then looked my other computer and on the problem one Explorer.exe is running around 99,000 - 120,000 kb- on my other computer it only runs around 14,000-35,000, that big of a difference between the two machines (both running xp- the problem one pro on a laptop, the other home on a desktop) is not normal...........
I have disabled my ATI video card and then the one that comes up after that. Now when booting up the log in screen doesnt come on but i can still log in and then still no display when in windows...I think I just need to enable a video card driver but cant see anything on screen so i have no clue on what to do.
when I am using my computer, some of the buttons don't appear. The names of icons aren't there. One day my wife was working on a word document, and some of the text disappeared. When she scrolled down, then back up, some of it was back. The text was there, we just couldn't see it because of the display being weird. Dual core 3.4ghz Dell, 2gb RAM. Fairly new machine, XP pro.
When I open up Display properties on my computer, I have a few problems. On the appearances tab, when I click on effects, it doesn't work. Additionally, I have two themes tab. I recently installed desktop architect on my computer, but then uninstalled it, but the second themes tab still remains. I suspect that that tab is from desktop architect, because it uses its same icon. I am not so worried about the second themes tab since it doesn't bother me, but I really wanted to use my effects tab for a theme I am creating.
xp boots past the login screen, but doesn't display any icons, taskbar or start button. On ctrl/alt/del and task manager - new task, I can run some apps. If I try to run explorer.exe I get 'cannot find....path not found...etc'.If I run cmd prompt, I can change to c:windows and dir for explorer - it's there but size is 1008640 bytes. I rename it to .old and run sfc which puts explorer.exe back - size 1004032 bytes. Now new task - explorer.exe loads my desktop icons, taskbar, and everything else. This is fine until I reboot, and then the problem recurs. Each time explorer.exe is replaced with the bigger file.
Disk Management describes that on my physical Drive (WD5000AAJB) drive is "Dynamic Unreadable" and doesn't display any info about its contents. The drive is a data disk (not the boot disk) and has an NTFS format. It hasn't been partitioned at any times. HOW i recovery some data from that disk? I try eg. GetDataBack NTFS and i see that there is right data, but how i recover it with out buy expensive license(~100EUR). Is that ISO imgage only way be cause only file straight copy is not allowed(license), BUT i dont have enough free space my other HDD to make ISO image file!
My WD Passport doesn't display anything I have stored on it. It still says that there are things stored on the external drive, but when I click on the icon, nothing shows up.I have another WD that is working just fine. Also, the icon for the drive changed from the blue "WD" back to the default.
everytime i shut down my comp, when i turn it on again i get an error message that says 'insert boot disk' on the startup screen. i'm not sure what the exact message was, but it was something about boot disk i should have written it down anyway, i turned the comp off, and shook the CPU a bit and then tried again and it started. I did a virus scan and every things clear l. i don't know much about these things lol so doing the virus scan must sound a little silly.so then anyway, i had to turn the computer off again and then when i switched it on i got the same error message. i pushed the off button and then put it on again and it worked. how do i prevent getting the error?
When I upgraded to XP I had to go to WMP 11. WMP 9 had radio tuner to get to streams such as "therocker.us", with WMP 11 I can't find how to do this. Search has not helped.
