I was surfing on the web and my computer froze on me (Everything froze besides my mouse). So when I restarted my computer, everything was fine until I got to the loading screen (screen with the windows logo and the loading blue bar). I've waited for the longest time ever but the blue bar would keep moving while windows doesnt even bother to load up.I've tried running Windows in safe mode but its still stuck at the loading screen.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have searched for some weeks now and have seen an increase in people who also found that while viewing in the Full Screen option on You Tube and/or Hulu.com that the "Press Esc to Exit Full Screen" message that appears in the center of the screen does Not fade away after a few seconds. Of course that makes Full Screen viewing unacceptable. I posed the question to the site itself and have never received a reply. One general forum said something about Unlocking certain Files (Adobe) that were found locked because of cookie handling upon installation, but as a novice that is beyond my comprehension.In any case, is anyone aware of a fix for this problem? (That message is not suppose to stay there) I am using Win XP IE8. I tried viewing using the Firefox Browser (3.5.2) and it did not help.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI think some files are lost after I improperly shut down the laptop by hold down the power button. So when I start up computer, it stays at Window XP welcome screen, the bar keeps moving continuously, but it goes nowhere. It's a Toshiba Satellite and it comes with a recovery disc, but after it finish loading the disc, nothing happens but black screen and a mouse pointer. I also tried to reinstall everything from that recovery disc but can't.(also tried to hold down C key when laptop is powering up to reformat). When I try to go to safe mode, it shows blue screen then restart again after it stops loading the file. so anyone got any other ideas?it always stays at the welcome screen so i can't even login..

Every week I get a pop up balloon message from sys. tray warning me anti-virus needs updating - no problem there but after I close the reminder PART OF THE BLACK OUTLINE REMAINS ON DESKTOP! Only solution is to reboot - what could cause this? It's a tad distracting. ALSO How do I insert an animated gif as my signature? When I click in insert pic it asks what text is to be formatted?

View 6 Replies View Related Well i am trying to install a fresh copy of XP and the CD is bootable and the CD drives all work ok, i have tried 3 different CD Drives but when i goto start the boot sequence i get an message saying:
Searching boot device
No emulation
Press any key to boot from CDrom....
I press a key and the cd drive starts off but the screen stays black and does not do anything.
I have never seen the message No Emulation under searching boot device before
I've recently purchased an HP G50 laptop, and decided to wipe off Vista and install XP - I did this with a few laptops before, no problem. However this laptop is proving to be a real headache. It won't boot from the Windows XP install CD at all The furthest I get is at the "Press any key to boot from CD" prompt, then the screen stays black. I booted without the hard drive to see if this was causing the issue, but the problem persisted. The CD had no problem booting on 4 other machines. I tried a different CD and that didn't make the problem go away. The laptop will boot any Linux install/live cd I shoot at it, yet it refuses to boot the Windows XP install CD.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI got this inspiron 1100 off ebay it didn't come with a hard drive so I put the hard drive from my inspiron 9300 into it and when you turn it on the the power light is on and the hard drive light blinks once and stays off. The screen remains black and when i tried to hook it to a montior still nothing black screen. was wondering if i used the wrong kindof hard drive?or am I looking in the wrong direction.

The specs that i know for sure) are:I booted my comp a few dyas ago and out of nowhere I get a BSOD before that screen with Windows XP comes up. I say to myself "ok, maybe its just one time" and reboot. I get it yet again and reboot. I finally get to the windows log in screen and I get ANOTHER BSOD after it finished loading. Restarted again, worked fine. I analyze my minidumps and it said the most probably cause of these crashes was hardware. At this point I recall a computer technician saying the capacitators on my mobo were bursting, but this was a good 8 months ago, so Im not sure if its FINALLY giving out or if my RAM thats failing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X and I've instaled Windows XP with Bootcamp. I tend to run more often on XP than Mac OS X, I tryed looking for some new themes for XP and installed "UXTheme Multi-Patcher 5.0.exe" and copyed across a few new themes wich I liked. they all worked fine till I restarted the system. An error message apears saying that it cant locate the file "UXThemes.dll" so all i see in windows now is my wallpaper with no startup menu, the keyboard and mouse's right and left clik do not respond at all. I have tryed puting in the Windows instal CD but it wont even read the CD/DVD drive all is there is the wallpaper background.

When I start the computer, it asks if for the choice of Safe Mode, w/ Networking, w/Command Prompt or Normally.
I've tried them all and if I try it normally, it won't get past the XP loading screen. It's loading and then it flashes a blue screen for a second and then restarts the computer again.
I tried pressing F8 at boot and selected 'Disable automatic restart on system failure' and this is what I get

I have this strange problem:I can't see my Bios loading .The screen is totaly black untill the windows' welcome screen , and then everything is back to normal.
It happened when I updated my motherboard Bios (Gigabyte GA-8N-SLI ,Rev. 1.0) through the original vendor's Website
My dads pc was fine then all of the sudden it just restarted.And it came up to the options:restart in safe mode estart in safemode with networking estart in safe mode with networking Last known working config Normal But when he tries any of them.. None of them work The windows loading screen will come up flash a blue screen super fast (cannot read it no matter how hard i try) then go back to boot option screen.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI couldnt start up windows. It would hang at the windows loading screen and go no further. So I was told to try a repair-install. And thats where even more trouble has started. So I started to repair-install. During the Windows Install setup, it gets almost to the point of being completed, but gave me a blue screen error STOP message at around the "18 minutes left" mark. During "Registering components". It would do this every time at the same spot. So I searched a bit about how to solve the problem. One suggestion I found on the interwebs was to try it with only one stick of ram installed, I have four overall at 2gb. So I tried that, next time I boot up to the comp, it loads up the bios, and then goes to the black windows loading screen with the loading bar, then starts with a blue screen saying "Setup is being restarted" So I figure its restarting my windows installation since it never was completed, after that message, the screen goes black with a cursor, and stays that way forever. I immediately put all the ram back in, and no luck, same thing. I tested each individual ram stick, same thing, just goes black. So now, I can't even seem to re-install windows. Did my hard drive just crap out? Some hardware issue? Im already thinking about buying a new fresh hard drive, installing windows on there, and just moving all my files from the old hard drive over to the new one. Though that would be a pain, I really want to save my current drive! And all the data on it.

It just goes black. The hard drive will run continually as if it's searching for the rest of the information, but can't find it.

View 1 Replies View RelatedIt is just a backup drive to be used for video editing -not a primary drive. However, once rebooting I get as far as the windows boot screen and then it hangs. The screen goes black, my monitors power down and nothing happens. Occassionally it reboots on it's own accord but instead of seeing the usual dos prompt screen all I get are some nastly looking blocky patterns. I usually have to turn the power off at the wall when this happens. I get no error messages on the screen at any time.
The good news is I CAN BOOT IN SAFE MODE! This is the difference I have found with other similar problems posted. I can boot in 'safe mode' and 'safe mode with networking' no problem. I can see all my HDD's and everything seems fine. From here I've tried doing system restore several times with no effect.
I am sorry i cannot give you the complete specs for the pc that is in trouble. However it runs an 80gig, cd drive, is about 4 years old, 64mg graphic card, 1.25g ddr ram 133, running xp. not sure home or pro. I would think home version. This system belongs to a friend who knows less than i. He recently had troubles with his system and I ran a few cleaning programs and made some adjustments to the system for better performance.Simple things such as choose for best performance, ccleaner, defrag the system and thats about all. Though I could not defrag drive D partition. A message said it had errors and needed or recommended it be scanned upon restart. So we did.
It all went well. Finished 5 of 5 then the next part it stuck at 0% and didnt recover from it. We waited say 40 minutes and still nothing so we restarted the system. It loads but hangs at the loading screen.I cannot use the xp recovery disc as it needs a password to get access and we do not have one. The system was bought from someone long ago. So recovery is out.Safe mode hangs when it gets down to mentioning the graphic card details and no other option will fully load either.Can anything be done here to get XP to boot?In the mean time I am currently setting up xp on another hdd and am going to try and retrieve as much data as I can from the crippled system. But if I can get it working then I will not have to sacrifice a HDD and not loose all of the outlook data etc.
A few weeks ago, I was having virus problems on my computer, along with various other problems, such as Norton not working. One of these problems was that I would boot up my computer, and it would be stuck on the Windows XP loading screen with the little green bar forever and would not load the user screen. However, I could get the computer to boot up in Safe Mode with Networking and could get just about everything to work fine. Thinking that the problem with loading was a virus that had erased some of my system files, I reinstalled Windows and reinstalled Norton correctly along a Sygate firewall. Everything was running fine, I was running Spybot and Ad-aware every day and a full system scan weekly, but today, I started having the loading problem again. I have no idea where to start fixing it. I am currently running Safe Mode with Networking, so I can use the internet and most of my other programs, but I want Normal mode back for obvious reasons.

View 14 Replies View RelatedWell last night I was on my computer as normal, and accidentally knocked the monitor plug out of the back of the monitor when I was moving stuff around on my desk and tried plugging it back in to reactivate it to no avail, and then tried unplugging and plugging it back in again on the back of the computer itself.
I then decided to just restart the system by switching it off manually by pressing the on button on the front, which is a normal procedure I've had to do lots of times before when trying to get my monitor(s) to work properly. It then went to the Windows screen with the usual blue bar scrolling across and rebooted. I let it reboot again, and it came up with some options to:
(F1) Run Setup
(Esc) Boot-up Menu
(F10) System Recovery
I decided at this point (since I've encountered this problem before and had to boot the system up from a different drive), to press Esc to run the boot-up menu and tried each of the options in turn, since it rebooted again after each and every option I chose.............
my parents PC got infected with spyware and the browser was hyjacked. I tried all I could to fix this but I couldn't. I tried posting here for help but didn't get anyone who could fix the PC. So I tried the windows restore. So I went to start>All programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore. I chose the date and it ran. Once it got to the end it rebooted the PC and it came up with the normal strtup procedure untill it said "loading windows xp" or "starting windows xp" something like that, once that goes I get a black screen with just the curser visible. So I tried to reboot and it came up with the settings like start in safe mode, start windows normally, previous settings etc... I have tried all these and they all do the same, black screen after loading. Now the PC has no windows disc thanks to the companys stop supplying the discs and it also has no restore disc.

It lasts for approximately 5 minutes and then the Windows XP loading screen comes up and boots to the desktop. This load is really annoying and has never happended to me on previous installs of Windows XP. Please let me know how to resolve this issue

Then it goes black, and stays black. I CAN however boot in safe mode (not safe mode with networking tough), and it works fine. I am also having problems finding my CD, but have the License Code. So a No-CD Answer would be wonderful

I've been through the site looking for an answer to my problem with no luck so here goes:I am trying to reformat my drive by starting over with my XP disc. After initiating install from the CD all goes well with the boot (loads drivers, and configures devices,etc). When it tries to load Windows I get a blue screen that says:error problem has been detected and windows has shut down.If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart, if not , follow these steps. Check for viruses. remove any newly installed drives or hard drives. check that the hard drive is configured properly. Run CHKDSK/F to check for corruption, then restart.
