I reinstalled windows Xp and for some reason my copmputer is real slow now,also I tried to reformat and it won't let me . I was wanting to know if anyone can help get back to the day i bought it ? After I reinstalled the Xp I have no restore points.

View 10 Replies View RelatedI reinstalled Windows XP on my Dell Dimension 3000 and now the Internet is not working. Some background-- the installation disk I used came with a different model Dell computer that I no longer have. I didn't have an XP disk or any driver disks for the Dell Dimension 3000. I went and installed the following two drivers on the computer (which I downloaded to a disk from Dell's website on another computer) based on suggestions from other forums but it's still not working: the Intel Chipset Software Installation Utility and the Intel (R) PRO/100 VE Network Connection. When I go to device manager, under other devices there are yellow question marks next to "Ethernet Controller" and "Multimedia Audio Controller." Note that my internet connection is a cable connection and the motorola modem is hooked up to a belkin 54g router. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem so I can get back on the Internet?

View 1 Replies View Relatedmy computer has been running incredibly slow, so I decided to reinstall windows professional and start all over. it works a little better now, but it is still slow on start up and in performance and all the features seem to be larger as if it were in safe-mode, but it is in normal mode. I defragmented the hard drive, checked for errors and even cleaned out the dust inside the computer itself (I don't know if that has any affect on its performance.).also one of the cd drives doesnt seem to work well.it cant find the disk sometimes, could that effect how the xp was installed? i also can't seem to get the internet (broadband) to set up
View 2 Replies View Relatedmy girlfriend had been adamant about not updating her computer because she claimed that is a way to get viruses.I scoffed and updated it anyway.I downloaded almost 2 years worth of updates over a two week period, the last update was the XP Service Pack 2 update.The very first time the computer was started after her SP2 update it loaded extremely slowly. The mouse doesn't work correctly (I can only right click) and most programs are inaccessible. I tried to System Restore (which is no easy task without a mouse) but it fails each time. I ran a virus scan with AVG but had no luck finding any infections.

View 9 Replies View RelatedWell I reinstalled XP SP2 then after working for awhile i noticed my sound was not functioning. The icon was not showing up on the toolbar currently running programs( which it usually does ). Then went into ADDRomove programs to uninstall. I recieved an error " The RPC server is unavailable ". I then saw that sound devices in Properties said it was not working properly, well after everything I thought a SYSTEM REPAIR would work that didn't work eighter. Then i saw in MSCONFIG there was one Service that was unchecked DCOM server process, this service would stay that way evertime i restarted. So I then reinstalled the sound software from a CD. In installation the error code 110, RPC "server unavailable or has been corrupted".
View 4 Replies View RelatedI was just experiencing a little minor problem with some pop-ups and last Saturday I decided to backup my files and format my comp.The first time I just formatted the C drive and left D, E, and F untouched. It took me 3 hours to install Windows XP. So the second time I wiped all partitions and make new C and D drives.. this time it took about 2 1/2 hours. THe last time I borrowed my friend's copy of Windows XP and reinstall it, formatted all my drives again, and took about 2 1/2 hrs again. Then this time I decided to reinstall/update all my drivers, windows update, etc Use ad-aware, Spybot, CWS Shredder, and Ewido to scan my comp.. nothing. Installed BitDefender and scanned, nothing.I'm running P4 2.0GHz with 512 RAM. I checked the CPU temp in the BIOS Menu it says 40C. I'm currently trying to run Windows Registry Repair Pro to see if any registry problem.. But my comp is running so slow. Start up takes forever and running programs take even longer. The interesting thing is that my CPU usage is hanging around 100% most of the time, no matter when it's right after I reinstall my windows or when i'm running programs. Please help, it's been 2 days and I can't solve this on my own.

I have a Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device. I tried reinstalling the driver from the cd and the control panel still shows no driver installed. One time I tried using the resource cd and the sounds worked in both speakers.

It is my understanding that this edition can only be installed on a single machine - and even changing the hard drive or major hardware component will de-activate it. In the process of trying to fix a BIOS issue, the dang thing reset the SATA controller from the RAID 1 I had setup back to normal SATA. I finally got that fixed - but it somewhat hosed the Windows install - it wants to do diskcheck every time it boots and always find some errors - but if I bypass the diskcheck it boots fine - but there are other problems. if the system builders edition can be reinstalled on the exact same machine with the exact same hardware - or would I have to buy yet another copy?

For few weeks internet hasn't been working properly. It has slow upload rate and webpages and games are unplayable because of the lag. How can I figure out what is causing this? I called the Rogers HiSpeed and they reset my connection but it didn't help the problem. I have Rogers HiSpeed and WindowsXP Media Center.
View 6 Replies View RelatedFirstly it's veeeeeery slow booting up, when on the xp loading screen the scrolling blue bars will stop, sometimes for over a minute. When it eventually gets to the user log on screen it again takes forever to load. Secondly. I removed a couple of progs. msn and google search bars and motorolla phone tools. On restart it just kept rebooting after getting a BSOD. I started in safe mode and took the check out of automatically restart in startup and recovery, and it now seems to be ok. Thirdly. my keyboard isn't working, I am having to use the onscreen keyboard which is a pain.

It seems to be secure pages mostly (every time I want to order something online, or when I go to a company's application center and try to apply for a job.I am on my second printer (HP 3740). Granted, it's not top of the line, but I just bought it because my old one was broken (I thought) and now it is starting to have the same problems as the last one, and the problems started about a week after I bought it. It started with the printing getting faded, like the cartridge was running out of ink, then it went through the motions of printing but no ink was on the paper. Next it will stop moving, even though the power light comes on.

Then, when it actually starts installing whatever game I try, Winamp plays at half speed, pops and hiccups, and becomes unlistenable. Firefox takes between 10 and 30 seconds to load an instance, and typing is slow, and shows up on screen in bursts. Furthermore, even my System sounds (right clicking, for example) become slow and broken.
