Reformatted & Reinstalled System: PCI Device Not Found?

Sep 22, 2005

After formatting and installing W2k on a DEll 4100 PIII I'm getting the 'new device found' wizard and it says I have a PCI device not being found.. But all my devices are working (i.e. modem, sound card etc.) When I right click on properties in the device manager it says "PCI Bus 0, device 31, function 3" Anyone know how I can tell what device it's finding and can't locate a driver for?

No Bootable Device Found / Insert System Disk And Press Enter

May 15, 2007

I have given my 40GB ATA HDD to my friend to fetch some movies he has got in his 160GB SATA HDD. He configured my HDD as secondary master and copied all the movies to mine. Later he removed my HDD and rebooted the system to find that his HDD isn't booting up. He says that his HDD isn't being detected in the BIOS. The well known error message "No bootable device found. Insert system disk and press Enter" appears every time he tries to boot his system. What can the solution other than formatting?( Formatting isn't favourable as there is critical data in the HDD).

Audio Device Not Found / Listed In Device Manager

Aug 4, 2010

I had some trouble last night and today with getting rid of a virus. Now that it is gone, I am having sound problems (maybe related, maybe not). This morning, when I opened iTunes I got a message that there was no audio device detected. After trying several things, I rebooted. Magically, I could play music again. However, a short while later, I again got an error message telling me that there is no audio device found, even though it shows up in Device Manager as working properly. The problem goes away for a short time after I reboot, but returns. It is Realtek AC 97. Why won't my computer keep recognizing it? (It tried going to Realtek's site to download an update. It has updates for Windows 98, 95, etc., but not for XP. Or at least I couldn't find it.)

Reinstalled NIC Drivers With Latest Found

Aug 12, 2002

The tweak is simple.Beside the QoS and others around the Internet for the new XP Operating System,I found out that native drivers sometimes slow you down.So if you have applied all tweaks and you are still having slow downs try reinstalling your NICs drivers.I have reinstalled my NIC drivers with the latest found on their website, and now I can really appreciate all my available bandwidth. The difference is noticeable. My web pages now load almost instantly where they used to take even a minute. As allways, this tweak worked well for me, but may not work with everybody, just try.You can go back to native drivers anytime.

USB 2.0 Device - No High Speed USB Hub Found

Jun 29, 2005

I have installed a Belkin USB 2.0 PCI card in my box (pc only had 1.1 on the board). I have an external WD hard drive that is USB 2.0. When I plug the hard drive into the USB 2.0 port I get a dialog box that says "No High speed USB hub found.... HI-SPEED USB Device Plugged into non-HI-SPEED USB Hub." When I look at my devices, I do not see any USB device that specifies USB 2.0, only the 1.1 device that is built in and the new card whci says "OPTi 82C861 PCI to USB Open Host Controller".

I have unistalled ALL USB devices and reinstalled, and still the same. I am running XP Pro , with SP2. The device manager shows no errors and reports that all devices are working properly. I have checked with Dell and there is no new Bios for my pc (Dimension 4300). Everything I have read said XP should support this card without any additional drivers.

No Device Found / BIOS Not Installed

Nov 27, 2006

My sons friend dropped his computer off to be cleaned up. GOt into some areas that appears to have taken over his system and his Internet service canceled his account and told him to clean up his system. It was home built using a MSI mb MS6702 / K8TNEO FIS2R or K8TNEO FSR not sure which.I was going to format his system and reinstall his XP but as soon as you start the system you get the No Device Found message and then a BIOS not installed message. If you try to get into BIOS using MSI's instructions (DEL key) it will not go into BIOS so you can set-up the boot sequence etc. If you let the system continue to boot the system will boot into XP with no problem.

No Audio Device Found After Clean Installation?

Dec 2, 2009

I recently found an old Gateway desktop in my basement. It is from a few years back, but I figured I'd do a clean install of Windows XP on it and run it in an extra room.I copied the drivers over using a program called DriverMax, and it seemed to work successfully. I had the internet right away and everything else I tried worked. The only problem I am having is that there is no sound. It also says there is no audio device found. Device Manager says I have the most up to date Legacy Audio Drivers, but I am still having this problem. Is there another driver that I might need in order for my computer to recognize an audio device.

Primary Hard Disc Drive 1 Not Found - Unknown Device

Jul 6, 2004

I created a mess (but I'm learning more each day), and after a week got it going at least, but on boot got messagae "primary hard disc drive 1 not found" which required clicking F1 to continue. I ended up reinstalling XP, got everything up and running, but still have the HD message at each boot. I've passed all of the diagnostics in Set-Up, and found nothing on any of the troubleshooting sites that helped. Set-up says: Primary Drive 0 - Hard Drive; Primary Drive 1 - Unknown Device; Secondary Drives 0 adn 1 are both CD-ROM Readers. Everything works just fine, but I'd like to figure the drive problem. I had to create a partition for the reinstall - had no choice.

I recently reinstalled Xp after formatting the hdd, since I was giving a friend in need this computer. Everything went smooth and I left the computer in her possession. A few weeks later I was visiting her and was using the computer when I noticed there was no sound, where there had previously been sound. Upon opening sounds properties box I found a message stating that there was no audio device installed.I opened the device mgr and there was a yellow exclamation mark under "video controller" which was under "display." After doing some research, I came to the conclusion that the chipset driver needed updated or re-installed.

Can Pro System Builder's Edition Be Reinstalled?

Nov 12, 2008

I'm building a new machine for a friend using WinXP Pro system builder's edition. It is my understanding that this edition can only be installed on a single machine - and even changing the hard drive or major hardware component will de-activate it. In the process of trying to fix a BIOS issue, the dang thing reset the SATA controller from the RAID 1 I had setup back to normal SATA. I finally got that fixed - but it somewhat hosed the Windows install - it wants to do diskcheck every time it boots and always find some errors - but if I bypass the diskcheck it boots fine - but there are other problems. if the system builders edition can be reinstalled on the exact same machine with the exact same hardware - or would I have to buy yet another copy?

Wireless Connectivity - More Than One Wireless Device Found

Mar 12, 2010

If i log onto my computer and just go into network connections, the computer is not able to look for wireless networks. if i hit the button to find networks, it gives me some strange error message. i have noticed though that i can fix the problem if i manually go into services and start the wireless zero configuration service myself. i configured this service to start automatically, and to keep restarting if attempts to start fail, but for whatever reason, the service does not start on its own when i boot the computer. once i start the service, i am able to connect without any problems.

The error message i get says something about finding more than one wirless device. i have a belkin usb wireless card, and before i installed the one i have now, i had another that coincidentally was the same size and also made by belkin. thinking that maybe some software was still on the computer, causing it to find both, and consequently not being able to connect to either, i uninstalled all the software for both routers and deleted all the related program files off of the computer. then i reinstalled and...got the same exact problem.
