Volume Licensed WinXP Pro is obviously the official name as has been pointed out ad nauseum. "Corporate Edition" doesn't exist (allegedly, actually I personally don't care if it exists or not), is seemingly subject to more demands for proof of existence than God himself and of couse the term "Corporate" means its a pirated version of the said Volume Licensed WinXP Pro which has also been screamed about like its in the bloody constitution or something. I call Volume Licensed WinXP Pro "Corporate" because its easier to say and write for that matter than "Volume Licensed WinXP Pro". Thats it it, just works better nothing more.
In all the time XP has been on release and I have been working with it in the industry I have never yet heard anybody at all refer to "Volume Licensed WinXP Pro" or anything remotely similar; they all from IT managers to shop floor builders call it "Corporate" or similar....

the computer hibernates just fine if i start it up and hibernate immediately... but if i open anything, even if only for a few minutes and then close it again, then when i try and hibernate, it'll act like it's starting to hibernate and then give me the message:

Happens during a simple COPY/PASTE routine. We get this error code copying anything into WORD.
Both systems have more than enough "resources" available.

I have a Lite-On SHW-160P6S DVD drive. Just recently reinstalled windows and reformatted and was in the process of gradually getting everything set up and installed, when my drive disappeared. I don't know exactly when, but it was gone. I checked the device manager and it said the driver was corrupted, no updated driver available, so I uninstalled and restarted. Now, I'm discovering in the DNS event log at regular intervals errors about how the computers in the internal domain are unable to register in the DNS server of the web domain of the same name. So, my question is whether there is something I can do to change the Active Directory domain so that I don't get those errors anymore.
They're running Windows 2003 server standard with Active Directory, roaming profiles, routing and remote access for VPN, DHCP server, standard fileserver, and print server. I may have missed one or two things but likely I haven't. The server has itself as the primary DNS server though it's not the 127 address it's the actual IP. The secondary server is the router but I have the DHCP giving out the servers for opendns.com as options 3 and 4 after the Domain Controller and the router but I had the problem before adding the opendns.com entries.

I recently formated my hard drive and reinstalled XP operating system. I no longer have sound on my computer. When I go to control panel- sounds it says no driver found. I have a Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device. I tried reinstalling the driver from the cd and the control panel still shows no driver installed. One time I tried using the resource cd and the sounds worked in both speakers.

It is my understanding that this edition can only be installed on a single machine - and even changing the hard drive or major hardware component will de-activate it. In the process of trying to fix a BIOS issue, the dang thing reset the SATA controller from the RAID 1 I had setup back to normal SATA. I finally got that fixed - but it somewhat hosed the Windows install - it wants to do diskcheck every time it boots and always find some errors - but if I bypass the diskcheck it boots fine - but there are other problems. if the system builders edition can be reinstalled on the exact same machine with the exact same hardware - or would I have to buy yet another copy?

OK no problem. I go and try to open WIndows Firewall to open ports. It says "Windows Firewall Settings cannot be displayed, because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection (ICS) Service?" I click "yes". "Windows cannot start Firewall/Internet Connection (ICS) Service."I try to start Firewall...nothing happens. Then I found another topic saying that I should go to run "services.msc". I do it. There, I find Windows Firewall and click "start". I get an error saying:"Error 1075. The dependecy service does not exist or has been marked for deletion". I have no clue on what to do now! Without fixing that stupid firewall I cannot connect my 360.

I haven't checked the box (yet) because I'm afraid I won't be able to ever launch the Utility. However, everytime I go to the screen, the area where the little calender that has all your restore points, is gone and blank. I have tried restarting; nothing. View 11 Replies View RelatedI had probs, so I did a system restore. When rebooting after that, it asked me for passwords to get in, both my account and Guest. Niether of them should have actually had passwords on them, therefore I can't get into the pc now. Tried everything, including using Administrator and password blank, still doesn't work. So on some peoples advice, I decided to do a Xp reinstall, choosing upgrade instead of formatting (so I don't lose everything). When going through that process, it gets to the point where I choose R for repair. It then askes which version to install on, so I say option 1 - Windows. THAT is when more probs come in. It now asks for the Administrator password. I've never given one in the past, and if I have then it's one of two options - either my surname or the word 'computer', so after trying both of those, and also trying a blank password, it then restarts the computer because I've given 3 incorrect passwords. The point is that there IS NO password!! I can't understand why it's asking for one??!! This is really getting me down.
