Dependecy Service Does Not Exist

Oct 31, 2006

I recently reinstalled my Windows MCE 2005 after trying out Vista.I downloaded the XBOX 360 Extender and it says that the PC cannot connect to 360, because the ports are closed. OK no problem. I go and try to open WIndows Firewall to open ports. It says "Windows Firewall Settings cannot be displayed, because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection (ICS) Service?" I click "yes". "Windows cannot start Firewall/Internet Connection (ICS) Service."I try to start Firewall...nothing happens. Then I found another topic saying that I should go to run "services.msc". I do it. There, I find Windows Firewall and click "start". I get an error saying:"Error 1075. The dependecy service does not exist or has been marked for deletion". I have no clue on what to do now! Without fixing that stupid firewall I cannot connect my 360.

The Specified Service Don't Exist As Installed Service

Jan 29, 2004

1) I have seen this problem posted on another forum in the past, but the thread never led to a solution.2) This problem has occurred with both a EIDE hard drive and a USB camera. I have also seen reports of it happening with other drives.
(NOTE: the items I am referring to use native WIN XP drivers; I have posted this problem on other forums and the first responder always tells me to go to the manufactrer's site to download the latest drivers.)3) The problem: every time I reboot, the Hardware installation wizard reports the following: "The specified service does not exist as an installed service."4) Once this dialog box is closed, the yellow warning diamond appears nect to the device in hardware manager, and the driver "disk.sys" is NOT installed, although "partmgr.sys" is.

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) - Specified Service Does Not Exist

Nov 8, 2006

I'm trying to share my internet connection with another connection. It's a wifi dongle for a wireless handheld. In order to get connectivity on this dongle, I need to share my connection. But when I attempt to do this, I recieve an error: "An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled This specified service does not exist as an installed service."

I'm using WinXP SP2 and I've searched on the Windows.com site for a while and downloaded some help files. But, it gives no indication on how to get ICS if you are getting this error. Does anyone have any tips or ideas on what I can try or how to get ICS? I've also reinstalled SP2, but I'm still not able to share my connection and recieve the same error. In Services I have Windows Management Instrumentation and Remote Access Manager but I don't have Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing listed.

Upon restart, Windows recognizes the drive and begins to install it

Uninstall Does Not Exist Oledlg.dll

Feb 25, 2008

When I try to install any program on pc I get the error that application failed to start because oledlg.dll was not found. Try to reinstall. So I go to my program list and look for this to uninstall, and it does not exist. (not that I can find anyway) So when I go on the premise that it isn't on the system, and I try to download oledlg.dll, it brings me to this .dll file already downloaded. When I click on that file, I only get a FAQS page from microsoft telling me about file names.

I just installed XP Pro SP2 onto this toshiba laptop (fairly good;1.4ghz intel celeron M,512 ddr ram, wireless nic,ati graphics and such) and it seems that standby and hibernate wont work AT ALL. Standby is grayed out in the turn off computer menu and the hibernate tab does not exist in the power options utility in control panel. I've googled around a bit and found no specific option in the BIOS to enable or disable it and as far as i know this laptop SHOULD support it...i mean come on what kind of laptop doesn't standby or hibernate?

The thing is there are three operating systems on the list, i thought i uninstalled them, when i try to load them up, it says they don't exist, but they just stay there, wasting my time every bootup. I'd quite like to completely get them to go away, not make it just choose to boot up from the top one automatically.

Volume Licensed WinPro - Corporate Edition Doesn't Exist

Sep 7, 2005

Volume Licensed WinXP Pro is obviously the official name as has been pointed out ad nauseum. "Corporate Edition" doesn't exist (allegedly, actually I personally don't care if it exists or not), is seemingly subject to more demands for proof of existence than God himself and of couse the term "Corporate" means its a pirated version of the said Volume Licensed WinXP Pro which has also been screamed about like its in the bloody constitution or something. I call Volume Licensed WinXP Pro "Corporate" because its easier to say and write for that matter than "Volume Licensed WinXP Pro". Thats it it, just works better nothing more.

In all the time XP has been on release and I have been working with it in the industry I have never yet heard anybody at all refer to "Volume Licensed WinXP Pro" or anything remotely similar; they all from IT managers to shop floor builders call it "Corporate" or similar....

It's Mass Hysteria! Temp Files Found That Don't Exist - Spyware Removers Gone Wild

Apr 29, 2007

I was running The Cleaner for the first time and it found several files to delete that I can't seem to find on my system. It shows them to be temp files but I like to be sure so I went searching for them. They're not visible. I've enabled the see all files so it should be there. But it's not. I did however find these files and am wondering why they would be found under IE5 which I haven't used now since the rebuild. And I don't think that was even under this hard drive! Is it safe to let it delete, or is that stuff I shouldn't delete?
C: Documents & Settings: User: Local Settings: Temporary Internet Files: Content.IE5: 3I1TVRX8, 4NM0HAS5, 7D8UQMOE, index.dat

Also I'm concerned by this message that keeps coming up saying Browser Help Objects have been detected - The following BHO has been added to your system: {BDF3E430~B101~42AD~A544~FADC6B084872} and I can either remove it or keep it. I ran a program called BHODemon to check it out and it found several BHO's but they were all legit. Could this all just be from a conflict from having SpywareGuard and Spybot both on my machine? Spybot seem to be going crazy asking if I want to change things. I can't stop them from popping back up when I close one another comes up. The error messages are always different too which is really confusing.

Uninstalling "Ghost Programs" Or Programs That Do Not Really Exist.

Sep 27, 2007

How can a program that is not even present on my C-drive (but once was) appear in the control panel when I open "Add or Remove Programs"? My registry is somehow holding onto this old program even though it does not really exist on my C-drive. I am trying to reinstall the program properly but when I finish the installation, Windows XP will not let me open it! It says my file path is invalid, apparently a reference to the "ghost version" of the program that I cannot get rid of! So my question is: how can I get my registry to realize that the program is GONE so that I can reinstall it successfully
