I have an IBM Thinkpad T-40 with Windows XP SP2, 1500 MHz, 1.50 Ghz, 256 MB RAM. After I reinstalled Windows the computer doesn't recognize any of my drivers and hardware. I no longer have sound.

View 8 Replies View RelatedIt's a Compaq presario 700 laptop, XP SP2 home edition, 486mb ram AmD athalon and for some reason just recently the sound is not working right.If I'm playing a music file the sound that comes out is all broken up.This just started happening within the last week and I did uninstall (delete) the sound drivers and when I rebooted they re-installed, but I have the same problem.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis problem is kind of wierd I was having problems with my video card. When I went to boot up the screen would go black. New drivers would not fix the issue. So I bought the same videocard again, thinking that something was wrong with the old one. The new videocard still doesn't work, but in the process of trying to boot up it did something to the registry, so now if I try to boot up I see a blue screen which says there is a registry problem and it shuts the computer down. Getting frustrated I thought it was best to just reinstall XP - so I started the process, only when it got to which partition you tell it to use I got the same blue screen with a registry error. So now what? How can I reinstall XP I thought that when you were installing XP it was basically "running" off of the install disc, so how could the registry be effecting it?

View 9 Replies View RelatedMy friend's computer was really messed up last week, and the only way to fix it was to reinstall XP. Once I did so, the monitor and sound did not work right. After messing around, I got the monitor corrected (the computer could not find the drivers) but there still is no sound. The sound card is on the motherboard itself (not removable), but the computer does not see anything but a generic sound card.How can I fix this? Do I open the computer up and try to find the specs on the motherboard, or is there another way? Plus, I don't have access to the computer for a couple days, so I can't tell you what all the specs are.

I am going to school tomororw and needed this off my computer. So I decided to wipe the hard drive clean with the Dell CDs that came with this purchase. I downloaded Windows XP and some of the drivers. Some of the drivers that i tried to download say they downloaded but then do not come up. Broadcom440x10/100 is saying the network cable is unplugged, I have no idea what that means and internet will not work. What can I do manually to make this work?

View 1 Replies View RelatedHi, yes, I did something really stupid! I was having major issues with laptop and as a last resort decided to reinstall Windows [should have been Vista]. However, I have two Dell Inspiron laptops and apparently used the wrong disc! I installed Windows XP. Now I have no internet as the Ethernet driver, and a few others, are showing errors. I looked in Device Manager etc and about 8 or 9 drivers were not installed. Oh, and the correct Windows disc is in US with my computer wiz son, and I'm over in UK! So . . . . is there anyway to install the missing drivers? Or even get Dell or Microsoft to help me get the correct version of Windows to reinstall?

I have a Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device. I tried reinstalling the driver from the cd and the control panel still shows no driver installed. One time I tried using the resource cd and the sounds worked in both speakers.

The digital sound is built into the Gigabyte mobo and I made sure I reloaded the drivers. Everything looks okay in the Device Manager. I've looked at everything I can think of, but I can't get the sound to work. When I plug in my USB headphones, they work fine. I keep thinking it's something simple I'm missing.

Earlier I formatted a PC with windows XP on it, the minute I plugged it up, a notification came up and said "This device can perform faster on a high speed 2.0 USB port". It says that when I plug them up into any USB port on the computer itself. The thing is, it will pretty much hang the system until I disconnect the external HD. It won't freeze 100%. It's responsive but no applications will open while it's trying to recognize the external.
It sounds to me like a USB driver problem or something because I'd assume it'd still recognize the drive even if it wasn't performing in a high speed 2.0 USB port... Any way to reinstall USB drivers? Never done that before. I have to use Hiren's Boot CD if I want to transfer files, simply because Windows XP won't recognize it and keeps popping up the notification.

View 2 Replies View RelatedThis is about sound issues from the computer as in cant get sound from the computer.Went to computer properties then multi media controller has yellow question mark next to it so tried to update driver it goes to the wizard but it will not find any drivers for it without a cd which dont have. Tried roll back drivers says no drivers are backed up on file. Went to sound audio video game controllers audio codecs says all the codecs are working for this computer. Control panel sound audio says no sound device is connected. The sound card is realtek ALC655 AC 97 enhanced audio controller. Again got these drivers from foxxconn and exactly same issues. Extracted the files easily enough from wizard but when go to exe run folder the run it says cannot find setupfilex.dll. Then go to gxdver it dont do anything. Go to exe icon run and logger then it goes cannot run please find the setup exe file from the directory. In the folders cannot seem to find anything that will install the actual drivers without a conflicting issue somewhere. So everytime download this compressed driver folders for the drivers it has problems when the files are extracted.The sound card is enabled and mutli media controller says code 28 drivers not installed.

Everthing's working fine now from what I can tell, except sound. the troublshooting provided by windows so far hasn't turned up anything and the updating from windows' site hasn't helped either. my control panel says that only my usb device is being read although the speaker system is hooked up exactly as before.

The icon was not showing up on the toolbar currently running programs( which it usually does ). Then went into ADDRomove programs to uninstall. I recieved an error " The RPC server is unavailable ". I then saw that sound devices in Properties said it was not working properly, well after everything I thought a SYSTEM REPAIR would work that didn't work eighter. Then i saw in MSCONFIG there was one Service that was unchecked DCOM server process, this service would stay that way evertime i restarted. So I then reinstalled the sound software from a CD. In installation the error code 110, RPC "server unavailable or has been corrupted".

View 10 Replies View RelatedI was just experiencing a little minor problem with some pop-ups and last Saturday I decided to backup my files and format my comp.The first time I just formatted the C drive and left D, E, and F untouched. It took me 3 hours to install Windows XP. So the second time I wiped all partitions and make new C and D drives.. this time it took about 2 1/2 hours. THe last time I borrowed my friend's copy of Windows XP and reinstall it, formatted all my drives again, and took about 2 1/2 hrs again. Then this time I decided to reinstall/update all my drivers, windows update, etc Use ad-aware, Spybot, CWS Shredder, and Ewido to scan my comp.. nothing. Installed BitDefender and scanned, nothing.I'm running P4 2.0GHz with 512 RAM. I checked the CPU temp in the BIOS Menu it says 40C. I'm currently trying to run Windows Registry Repair Pro to see if any registry problem.. But my comp is running so slow. Start up takes forever and running programs take even longer. The interesting thing is that my CPU usage is hanging around 100% most of the time, no matter when it's right after I reinstall my windows or when i'm running programs. Please help, it's been 2 days and I can't solve this on my own.

While I was deployed my wife inserted an Mini SD card in to the card reader built into the computer. When she removed the card windows locked up, as soon as she reinserted the card windows worked fine. She removed the mini SD card from the adapter to use in her phone, and windows still worked fine, but as soon as she removed the Mini SD adapter from the card reader windows locked up and the windows would hang during start-up with out the adapter. Reinserting the adapter cured the freeze and hang, but windows ran very slow.I removed and reinstalled the card reader drivers and was able to remove the adapter, but windows still hangs on start-up with out the adapter placed in the slot.

But when it tells me to plug the camera in the windows screen comes up with install new hardware and it cant find the drivers even though they have installed so it won't work.
