It worked just fine yesterday.I have Dell Inspiron 9200 17" with windows XP I re installed the driver ( sigma C-audio ), but i still got no sound.The funny thing is .... it works if I use external speaker / headset.
Is this hardware problem?
i have a dell latitude d620 and the sound volume is very low. All the levels on everything are set on high but this makes no difference. i tried uninstalling the driver and downloading the driver from dell. Reinstalling the driver but this still made no change
View 8 Replies View RelatedMy friend's computer was really messed up last week, and the only way to fix it was to reinstall XP. Once I did so, the monitor and sound did not work right. After messing around, I got the monitor corrected (the computer could not find the drivers) but there still is no sound. The sound card is on the motherboard itself (not removable), but the computer does not see anything but a generic sound card.How can I fix this? Do I open the computer up and try to find the specs on the motherboard, or is there another way? Plus, I don't have access to the computer for a couple days, so I can't tell you what all the specs are.

The error message, 'There are no active mixer devices available. This is only to be used on HP Consumer PCs preinstalled with Windows XP. Your PC does not meet this requirement, so update is being aborted. but my PC was preinstalled with Windows i've just had to reinstall it again!

I have a Unimodem Half Duplex Audio Device. I tried reinstalling the driver from the cd and the control panel still shows no driver installed. One time I tried using the resource cd and the sounds worked in both speakers.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just did a fresh install of XP on my new PC and now, for some reason there is no sound coming out of the speakers. It worked before I did the reinstall. The digital sound is built into the Gigabyte mobo and I made sure I reloaded the drivers. Everything looks okay in the Device Manager. I've looked at everything I can think of, but I can't get the sound to work. When I plug in my USB headphones, they work fine. I keep thinking it's something simple I'm missing.

However, a windows disk didn't come with the computer so I used the one that came with my desktop (dell xps 400). It's running fine and all that jazz but I am clueless on how to set up my wireless connection. When I first bought the computer the first time I opened it it automatically picked up the wireless connection and all I had to do is type in a password and such. Now I guess I'm starting from scratch... There's no webcam software on it or anything like it came with. The resolution doesnt even fit the same after adjusting it. (It's close but still a little stretched out)

Everthing's working fine now from what I can tell, except sound. the troublshooting provided by windows so far hasn't turned up anything and the updating from windows' site hasn't helped either. my control panel says that only my usb device is being read although the speaker system is hooked up exactly as before.

So i did a clean install of windows xp. Now though, my video card isn't recognized. Under Adapter Type Properties, it's listed as VGA Save. My brother doesn't know what kind of video adapter it is and i don't know how to find out either. Attached is a screenshot of the info i have with regards to video adapter.

The icon was not showing up on the toolbar currently running programs( which it usually does ). Then went into ADDRomove programs to uninstall. I recieved an error " The RPC server is unavailable ". I then saw that sound devices in Properties said it was not working properly, well after everything I thought a SYSTEM REPAIR would work that didn't work eighter. Then i saw in MSCONFIG there was one Service that was unchecked DCOM server process, this service would stay that way evertime i restarted. So I then reinstalled the sound software from a CD. In installation the error code 110, RPC "server unavailable or has been corrupted".
View 4 Replies View RelatedI decided to "reinstall" Windows XP on my laptop. I stuck the reinstall disk into the computer and let it go. After about 1 hour of "reinstalling", the computer restarted, after that, the window was only one half the size and I couldn't change the monitor resolution size. (but, it showed the old desktop information so I knew right away that I hadn't actually reinstalled to the original state, but just reinstalled over the current desktop).
I restarted the computer to see if the window screen would enlarge to the full size. It did return to the full screen size, but Now, it freezes at the part of startup where the screen says "Windows is starting up". I left it on for 20 minutes and it was still frozen. SHould I insert the Windows XP disk again, to start over or what? Or click reboot after hitting the F2 button??
Laptop has no sound. New XP install. Divers installed. Device enabled. Device working properly. Still nothing.
View 13 Replies View Relatedfirst off, never under any circumstances use a laptop in a machine shop to listen to music. ever. after a fall off a mill and onto the floor hdd failed. installed new one, put xp pro on it, began to get the updates and such from gateways website, first off, it still has no network connections other than my sprint air card, and my 1394 port. so i am missing my local network and wireless network. second massive problem, is have no sound. under the sounds and audio devices window in the volume tab, it says no audio device. under device manager it says audio codecs and legacy audio drivers (twice) none have any error. when i clicked on the troubleshooting tab it gave the question of weather the the volume was muted, i clicked on volume link it brought up an error stating no mixing devices were found.

I found the drivers that are supposed to work but still the sound is not working (seems like everything else does).I've tried both kinds of drivers that are available one was Realtek AC 97 something and the other one Sound MAX something none of them works anyway.

It hit the power cable, modem and sound We were able to buy a new power cable and buy a modem to go in the card slot But nobody there seemed to have a clue regarding the sound. I have looked in the forum, but couldnt find someone with the exact problem.
My laptop suddenly started to freeze (temporarily) when I try to load any application. The freeze time could take 2 to 5 min (while the hard disk led is lit solid). I cannot hear the hard disk sound during this freeze. I could move the mouse but cannot click on anything. It just stops responding for about 5 min before the application loads and works normally.
I have a Toshiba Satellite with a Celeron M, 1.4Ghz, 1.5Gb RAM, and XP Home. In the past few days, it has slowed down to a crawl. Programs like Sound Forge that opened almost instantly now take a minute or more. I ran a complete virus scan and found nothing. System Restore won't work - even in Safe Mode. It's like everything is in slow motion. The CPU is active even when I'm doing nothing.
View 13 Replies View RelatedI left in a hurry yesterday and forgot to close some programs (specifically, Outlook 2003) and run a full virus scan. When I checked the computer this morning it looks like Windows XP had reinstalled itself! The items listed below are all DIFFERENT than what I normally see on my computer. To wit:
1. My Desktop was totally rearranged; all the icons were placed on the left side of the screened and arranged in alphabetical order.
2. A pop-up window appeared that sayed something like Setting Preferences and proceeded to set preferences for such things as Outlook Express (which I never use), etc.
3. Control Panel was no longer in Classic View.
4. The Taskbar was rearranged and the Quick Launch bar had disappeared.
5. The Start panel showed only IE, Outlook, MSN, Windows Media Player, Windows Messenger, Tour Windows XP, Files and Transfer Wizard. This is usually what the Start panel looks like with a new Windows XP installation but is nothing like what my Start panel looked like the day before!
6. The Language Bar was showing.
7. All Folder views were showing as icons. I previously had all my Folder views set to display Details.
8. The Event Logs seemed to be missing. The System Log showed no log entries after 5/29/2008. The Security Log had ONE entry (Audit) dated 7/21/2006. The Application Log had no entries dated after 5/15/2008!
I did a full virus scan using PrevX and BitDefender. No malware showed up. Finally, I decided to do a System Restore back to a restore point taken on 4/28/2010 (two days ago). Everything now looks as it did BEFORE I got onto the computer this morning.

Reinstalling a sound driver for onboard sound from a pre-packaged XP, I've tried for days to locate my driver with no success.

After a while my sound will cut out and when I try to play things in Winamp or anything it will stay stuck @ 0:00The sounds will sputter for a second and then freeze. Also when the sound dies, sometimes programs will start to freeze up to the point I can't even kill them in tskmgr. System sounds don't play either.I've tried updating to the latest drivers. Everything else is working fine, good audio for all playbacks.I don't have a system speaker attached to the motherboard. The sound comes thru my Sound Blaster powered speakers, even with the volume off.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am having problems with IE7 crashing. I have run all spyware and adware programs, I even uninstalled them as well as some other programs that I thought might be causing problems. I disabled the shell extensions that were not Microsoft or Windows IE.
I monitor calls on a site--I call up popups that contain the calls--I go along fine and then out of no where the windows freeze up and I cant get out. Then i get the "IE needs to close"I have been working on this site for 3 years now and never had a problem. I do this at my day job too and I haven't had any problems. I am running Windows XP, Serv Pak 2, IE7 and Bellsouth DSL FastAccess Extreme
