Low Sound On Laptop - Reinstalled Sound Drivers
Oct 9, 2009i have a dell latitude d620 and the sound volume is very low. All the levels on everything are set on high but this makes no difference. i tried uninstalling the driver and downloading the driver from dell. Reinstalling the driver but this still made no change

Dec 30, 2007first off, never under any circumstances use a laptop in a machine shop to listen to music. ever. after a fall off a mill and onto the floor hdd failed. installed new one, put xp pro on it, began to get the updates and such from gateways website, first off, it still has no network connections other than my sprint air card, and my 1394 port. so i am missing my local network and wireless network. second massive problem, is have no sound. under the sounds and audio devices window in the volume tab, it says no audio device. under device manager it says audio codecs and legacy audio drivers (twice) none have any error. when i clicked on the troubleshooting tab it gave the question of weather the the volume was muted, i clicked on volume link it brought up an error stating no mixing devices were found.

Oct 7, 2007It worked just fine yesterday.I have Dell Inspiron 9200 17" with windows XP I re installed the driver ( sigma C-audio ), but i still got no sound.The funny thing is .... it works if I use external speaker / headset.

Sep 16, 2005I have a Gateway 400VTX laptop running windows xp pro. Sound suddenly stopped on it; I don't know exactly when or after what. It was working during the initial days of Hurricane Katrina because I was listening to the news feeds on it, so sometime in the last week or so I noticed it stopped.

I found the drivers that are supposed to work but still the sound is not working (seems like everything else does).I've tried both kinds of drivers that are available one was Realtek AC 97 something and the other one Sound MAX something none of them works anyway.

Oct 20, 2009I started facing a problem recently with my 3 years old laptop GATEWAY MX6453.
I have looked in the forum, but couldnt find someone with the exact problem.
My laptop suddenly started to freeze (temporarily) when I try to load any application. The freeze time could take 2 to 5 min (while the hard disk led is lit solid). I cannot hear the hard disk sound during this freeze. I could move the mouse but cannot click on anything. It just stops responding for about 5 min before the application loads and works normally.

May 12, 2006I have a Toshiba Satellite with a Celeron M, 1.4Ghz, 1.5Gb RAM, and XP Home. In the past few days, it has slowed down to a crawl. Programs like Sound Forge that opened almost instantly now take a minute or more. I ran a complete virus scan and found nothing. System Restore won't work - even in Safe Mode. It's like everything is in slow motion. The CPU is active even when I'm doing nothing.

Apr 11, 2007This started last night, the only thing that I did that was out of the ordinary was ran Avast's thourough scan fully, but even after that my sound worked, so it didnt delete the driver to my knowlege, but when I do a dxdiag and look at my audio, it doesn't exist, there is no sound card installed, and allI use is my DFI Lan Party UT RDX200 CF-DR mother boards on board sound. I tried installing the driver again fom DFI and to no success, now when I went to install the drive again, I got an error saying that this device isnt approved by Windows. Could windows be preventing my audio card from working?
Sound Problem In XP, Realtek Works But Sound Is Gone
Mar 3, 2007When i start my pc skype says that he hasn't found recording hardware. Itunes doesn't work, like Windows Media Player, Winamp etc. The sound is gone. I tried to fix it myself, cause i disabled a driver that seemed to have a problem, but i don't remember what the name was. Now not only the programs have no sound anymore, but windows is silent too. It sure wasn't the driver of my sound card. I installed Everest and he doesn't find any Windows Audio, and says the realtek has "noDB". When i am in the music tab of the "Diagnostic help program for DirectX" "windows synthesizer" test sound doesn't play, but the realtek does.

Apr 9, 2008This is about sound issues from the computer as in cant get sound from the computer.Went to computer properties then multi media controller has yellow question mark next to it so tried to update driver it goes to the wizard but it will not find any drivers for it without a cd which dont have. Tried roll back drivers says no drivers are backed up on file. Went to sound audio video game controllers audio codecs says all the codecs are working for this computer. Control panel sound audio says no sound device is connected. The sound card is realtek ALC655 AC 97 enhanced audio controller. Again got these drivers from foxxconn and exactly same issues. Extracted the files easily enough from wizard but when go to exe run folder the run it says cannot find setupfilex.dll. Then go to gxdver it dont do anything. Go to exe icon run and logger then it goes cannot run please find the setup exe file from the directory. In the folders cannot seem to find anything that will install the actual drivers without a conflicting issue somewhere. So everytime download this compressed driver folders for the drivers it has problems when the files are extracted.The sound card is enabled and mutli media controller says code 28 drivers not installed.

Nov 16, 2007I can play an DVD movie and the video works fine but I have no audio. I can play an music cd and the sound works fine. I tries it in media player and nero. Media player is a pain half the time it won't play an movie because of some rights problem. The movies are legal out of the store. I use to run a audio cable from the cd and dvd's to the motherboard in the old days, but haven't in a while because the audio would work either way. This is new MSI board with on board audio and works fine with music cd's but no audio on video's. I did get sound to work with movies but only after installing WinDVD7. I noticed that it installed a DVD Audio driver. Why don't the other programs have that like Media player, nero, realplayer. I thought that a fresh install and update of XP would have all the drivers for DVD as long as we have been using them
