The computer has no driver cd with it a had to look for drivers on Toshiba support pages. I found the drivers that are supposed to work but still the sound is not working (seems like everything else does).I've tried both kinds of drivers that are available one was Realtek AC 97 something and the other one Sound MAX something none of them works anyway.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI was trying to install Vista in my laptop and it did not work for no reason, now the DVD-Ram driver dooes not work and I can not use my cd/dvd unit at all, does read nothing. I got a external unit and it does not recognized either. Of course I can not run winxp again, because the cd unit does nor work. Any suggestion is a Toshiba Satellite P105-S6084.

When i go to burn a dvd now or even a cd it tells me to attach an external drive, or the area where you choose which location to burn to is greyed out. I can't seem to look up the model number on the Toshiba website, the number on my receipt is A70wb200e, while the number i brought up using the system itself is mfwt020acp08.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I turn on the machine, the screen stay blank, no bios display, no windows boot logo, but the power light and hdd light flash away, AND once its up to the Welcome screen, the display kicks in and no further problems.She tells me it once did show a bios and Windows boot screen, and I can't seem to work out whats going on to blank the screen during this time. I can't even F2/F12 to a visible bios setup to see if its a setting, but I know its going in, because it stay blank forever

I tried to put a Netgear Card into the slot and it did not work so I went to Device Manager. It gave me a PCI ?. I dont know where to get a driver for the PCI slots because I dont know there names. View 6 Replies View RelatedThe Toshiba Power Saver is set for the screen and HDD to shut off after 30 minutes of no activity. The screen saver is set to go after 10 minutes but after 30 minutes the screen saver stops and the normal screen comes up. I tried setting to a different power setting by right clicking the desktop and going to properties and setting it to "Portable/Laptop" but it did the same thing. Is there a way to fix this? My OS is XP Media Center and my Toshiba Satellite is a A100/A105 series.
View 1 Replies View RelatedLaptop came with Vista, but I decided to put Windows XP on it instead, everything went alright, until the ATi Display drivers came in, since the Toshiba website doesn't have any XP drivers for this laptop, I've tried many many different driver packages and none of them have worked, the chipset is ATi Radeon Xpress 200M, even the drivers on the ATi website for that chipset for XP wouldn't work. What could be going on and can it be fixed?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP Home Edition on a Toshiba Satellite A35-S159. When I open My Computer, there is a category named Other and under it there is a hard disk icon I think with a red circle over it. In the red circle is a white question mark. I have tried to use disk manager to delete it but it does not show up there. I have also tried using partition magic t delete it but it doesn't see it until I create a AF format partition. Then when I restart, it claims to be it but I still can not delete it in partition magic, on rebot, it says it is not visible and even when partition magic sees it, disk manager does not. Has anyone encountered this and know how to get rid of it. I have also tried ad-aware and hijack this but neither found it. Please help, this thing is driving me nuts!

View 13 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5000 with Vista home on it and it works OK, but I bought a larger HDD and I thought that I would put Windows XP PRO on it, I went from a Hitachi 160GB 2.5" SATA drive to a 250GB drive, same Manufacturer, the only difference in the drives is the original was a SATA 1.50 and the new drive is a 3.0, BIOS see's the drive and the XP disk does al the usual stuff, then it asks if you want to Install windows on it, so I click OK and then it says the windows cannot detect any HDD and aborts the installation, I know that the 2 SATA's are compatible and the only draw back is that the 3.0 may operate in the 1.5 mode in the worse case scenario, but windows doesn't see the drive at all.

At first it just become really hard to hear, then barely audible, and now there is absolutely no sound.I hooked up some external speakers (which used to work in this computer), and I can't get any sound from them either. Given that, I figure the cause is not the internal speaker hardware.I've looked at all the sound settings I can find and none are muted and are all set at high levels. Not only can I not hear sound on websites and such, but also the sound effects for the computer (such as the chime I used to hear when an e-mail arrived).

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have an old Toshiba laptop. I bougth a laptop enclosure for this 2.5 size. In order to fit the enclosure I had to remove a bracet that was needed for the laptop. After removing it, I inserted it into the ide connector of that enclosure...fine, but I cannot close the enclosure the way it should. It misses by an 1'16 or 1'8 of an inch. Looking at the hd ( IBM ) it has a metal cover with 6 screws. It has all the specs of that hd. Its possible It may fit of I remove it, but I do not know if that is wise to the hd.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a brand new Toshiba Satellite A85-S107. 40 gig harddrive. 1.4GHz processor. 256 megs ram.
A system check using MSinfo32 indicates that I only have 16 megs ofavailable physical memory and only about half of the 512 mb virtualmemory available. The shared video card takes the RAM down to 191 megs. Even when I disable every single file under Startup (msconfig)it only raises the available memory to about 26 mb. So, with virtually nothing running I have about a 75 percent memory load. Can this possibly all be attributed to Windows XP?
I realize there are other processes running in the background but I am not sure how and what to do about them. And virtualy all of them seems to be windows files. Should I just add another 256 mb of ram and not worry about it?
I have a TOSHIBA SATELLITE A100 LAPTOP. PART NUMBER, PSAA8C-SK800E. It is not even a year old however i want to do a clean install of WINDOWS XP. The problem is, He nor I, never recieved a RECOVERY DVD when he originaly got this laptop last september. The laptop is still under warrenty until september 15th 2007, i just need to know how or where to get the recovery dvd. I searched the toshiba site, but i dont know where or what to do or go.

It's an Equium A60 as far as I can work out (similar/same as a Satellite A60?) running XP home. She can't find the recovery disk (if it even has one?) and I only have XP Pro, Can I use my XP pro the same way as I would on a normal desktop? Stick the CD in and boot from it to install a fresh OS? Is there anything I need to look out for on a laptop?

Even since my last windows update, it became awfully slow and it started giving me blue screen errors at boot time .once in a while. I would say that about 1 in 2 times, it wouldn't boot. Then I would try "last known good configuration" or just start normally and after a few tries, it would work. But since the last windows updates this morning (july 13th), I cannot boot without getting a blue screen error. The best I can do is boot in safe mode about once very two tries.
