View 14 RepliesToshiba Satellite A135-S4407 and hate the Visat OS. Has anyone here removed the Vista and installed XP SP2/3?I have legal OS disks for both. I am worried about the drivers for hardware devices. I am going to perform a total backup on a external HD before anything else.
View 13 Replies View RelatedLaptop came with Vista, but I decided to put Windows XP on it instead, everything went alright, until the ATi Display drivers came in, since the Toshiba website doesn't have any XP drivers for this laptop, I've tried many many different driver packages and none of them have worked, the chipset is ATi Radeon Xpress 200M, even the drivers on the ATi website for that chipset for XP wouldn't work. What could be going on and can it be fixed?

View 4 Replies View RelatedThe Toshiba Power Saver is set for the screen and HDD to shut off after 30 minutes of no activity. The screen saver is set to go after 10 minutes but after 30 minutes the screen saver stops and the normal screen comes up. I tried setting to a different power setting by right clicking the desktop and going to properties and setting it to "Portable/Laptop" but it did the same thing. Is there a way to fix this? My OS is XP Media Center and my Toshiba Satellite is a A100/A105 series.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have Windows XP Home Edition on a Toshiba Satellite A35-S159. When I open My Computer, there is a category named Other and under it there is a hard disk icon I think with a red circle over it. In the red circle is a white question mark. I have tried to use disk manager to delete it but it does not show up there. I have also tried using partition magic t delete it but it doesn't see it until I create a AF format partition. Then when I restart, it claims to be it but I still can not delete it in partition magic, on rebot, it says it is not visible and even when partition magic sees it, disk manager does not. Has anyone encountered this and know how to get rid of it. I have also tried ad-aware and hijack this but neither found it. Please help, this thing is driving me nuts!

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a Toshiba Satellite A205-S5000 with Vista home on it and it works OK, but I bought a larger HDD and I thought that I would put Windows XP PRO on it, I went from a Hitachi 160GB 2.5" SATA drive to a 250GB drive, same Manufacturer, the only difference in the drives is the original was a SATA 1.50 and the new drive is a 3.0, BIOS see's the drive and the XP disk does al the usual stuff, then it asks if you want to Install windows on it, so I click OK and then it says the windows cannot detect any HDD and aborts the installation, I know that the 2 SATA's are compatible and the only draw back is that the 3.0 may operate in the 1.5 mode in the worse case scenario, but windows doesn't see the drive at all.

Here are some drivers we know we need but cannot find: realtek rtl8139/810x family fast ethernet NIC Trident Cyberblade XP2 AGP 4x The major issue is no internet connectivity means we cannot use one of the driver scanner software out there. View 4 Replies View RelatedI purchased a SIIG PCI firmware adapter. It has no drivers and says that it will use Win XP drivers. Well I installed the board and booted the pc, Win XP
recognized the hardware but could not find any drivers. I tried unplugging it manually, installing it in another card slot with no luck. I took it back to
my pc dealer and he plugged it in his system and had no problems. I decide to try another brand, an IO Gear GIC1394.
I want to reinstall Windows XP on our Toshiba laptop but I don't want to reinstall from the Toshiba disks due to the bloatware that the disks installs (like the disk utility, antivirus, etc software). I'd like to install the OS from a Microsoft Windows XP CD but wondered if the Microsoft disk would even install onto the Toshiba and if so, would the laptop function properly? Thanks.

Does anybody know a way in which I can get around this.

I do use the SATA-II/SATA-3G connection on the board, I run two 300GB Maxtor Diamondmax 10 SATA drives. View 9 Replies View RelatedI recently went through a "Blond Moment". I decided I was going to update my SIS IDE Driver on my computer. I downloaded the newest drivers from my motherboard manufacturer, saved them to file in the C: drive Now, here is the blond moment:
I uninstalled the old sis IDE driver (rather than changing it to standard IDE driver) and it prompted me to reboot on completion.(Blond again) I clicked yes, I meant to install the new driver before doing this, but I didn't read it right so the computer rebooted. Now on boot up I get a BSOD. It basically asks me to check my hard drive (which I know is good, its new) or reinstall the IDE drivers (which I don't know how to do outside windows) or run a virus scan (done) to be sure that isn't causing the error.I went into recovery console with hopes to restore the SIS or standard IDE Driver, but Im lost, and don't know how to do that exactly. Is there anyone who knows how to install these drivers (remember I cant boot to windows safe or otherwise)OR Should I just do a repair install and will that even fix this dumb thing Ive done?
I have windows xp home and sometimes windows will just randomly forget drives that I have installed and I have to install them again. This dose not happen on my other pc why and how can I stop it on this pc?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got an Intel DG33FB motherboard, Intel E8400 CPU and SATA hard drive and I dual-boot with gentoo linux.
So basically, the last time I installed XP, I had to slipstream the AHCI drivers as well as SP2 into an image of an XP CD, then burn it and install from that disc. When I did it last time I had a handy little utility that would automatically make the required changes to the .iso and put all the files in the right spots, etc.
